As you may know, Monika, the wife of my younger brother and sometime co-blogger, Ted, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and elected to undergo double mastectomy to minimize the possibility of re-occurrence. The operation was today, and reports are favorable so far:
Surgery started about 1000 and both teams were done by 1630 or so. I was allowed to stay with her in recovery, after she woke up around 1825. We were safely ensconced in her room by 1930.Keep Monika and the rest of the family in your thoughts.
Monika honestly does not remember very much if any about yesterday from the time the anesthesiologists started prepping her to this morning.
Monika is in quite a bit of pain today, it is hard for her to get up or move but she has gone on one major walk around the nursing wing and several shorter ones.
We will probably be on our way home sometime tomorrow afternoon, if all continues to go well.
