Beach Report, Saturday 3/3/12

The storms that hammered the center of the nation yesterday, killed as many as 40 people, and destroyed whole towns glanced off us last night, producing an ugly commute home, and rain that lingered into the morning.  We gave up waiting for the last clouds to disperse and went down to the beach, and had a few slight showers along the way as a result.
Almost immediately, Georgia found this nice Mako Shark's tooth.

I answered her with this fine, rare specimen, the classic jar filler...

South winds with the storm had produced an unusually high tide, and we were forced to walk up into Calvert Beach and around the cliff to get to the far side, only to find we couldn't cross the stream at Matoaka Cottages (and still keep our feet dry).  Therefore, I don't know if the Tundra Swans are still here.  We got this view of the beach from the top of the cliffs, though.

The only people we met on the beach this morning were another couple that we meet frequently.  We talked a while, and they showed up their finds today.  They cheat, they use scrapes to reach out into the surf and grab all the big ones...

The Buffleheads are still here, though.

Just some silly Husky tongue.  Skye is limping around this evening because of all her exertions on the beach. Georgia and I are limping around because we worked in the garden in the afternoon
