Rule 5 Saturday - Little Joey - Katie Holmes

A Dawson's Creek veteran, Katie Holmes was born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1978.  She began acting with "The Ice Storm" in 1997, which managed to lose it's makers a 10 million bucks, making it a 0.01 John Corzine equivalent.  I can't say I've seen the movie, and from the description of the plot, I can't say I'm anxious to, despite an impressive cast. She reportedly turned down the role of Buffy, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that same year, and thereby gave us Sarah Michelle Gellar.

In 2000, she had a tough role as a dead girl in "The Gift", a film based on Billy bob Thornton's mother's alleged psychic powers.
She won her part in Dawson's Creek (1998-2003), in which she played Joey Potter, by sending a basement tape to the director by Fedex.  Dawson's creek turned out to be a challenging role:
"Sometimes before we read a script, I have to get my dictionary and call people to make sure I'm pronouncing some of the words correctly."
In 2005, she starred in "Batman Begins", to critical reviews...
"Holmes is OK",
She was nominated for a Golden Raspberry for "worst supporting actress" for the film.  In the same year, shes characterized her film career as being a string of "bombs."

"Usually I'm not even in the top ten ... It's not like I have a lot of stuff that's great just waiting for me to sign on to.
Her most recent role was "The Slutty Pumpkin" in "How I Met Your Mother" in 2011.

In 2005 (apparently a big year for her), she dropped Kevin Klein, and took up with Tom Cruise. She converted to Insanity Scientology and they were married in a castle in Italy in 2006.  They have a daughter "Suri". No word on whether she has a fringe on top.

That's enough.  More pictures of Katie below the fold.
