Tattoo Thursday

It seems that Jennifer Lopez has removed her “commitment” ribcage tattoo amid her divorce from Ben Affleck.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, the 55-year-old Atlas actor stunned in a gorgeous disco ball-esque gown with black ties – which many have dubbed a revenge dress. The silver dress was designed by Tamara Ralph and was paired with a metallic Judith Leiber clutch, Hassanzadeh jewelry, and Dolce & Gabbana platform heels.

The gown’s side openings strategically showcased Lopez’s bare ribcage. The dress also revealed that Lopez’s tattoo, which she got to commemorate her union with the 52-year-old Oscar winner, was seemingly gone for good.
So much for commitment.

Random Celebrity News

For some values of "random," "celebrity" and "news." avid Strom at Hat Hair claims Taylor Swift Is Not a PsyOp: Human Events@HumanEvents, "It's no secret that Taylor Swift is immensely popular among the younger generation, but is the media helping push her and the DINK (dual income, no kids) lifestyle she promotes on Americans? Jack Posobiec and Evita Duffy say yes."

The theory is based on an obvious fact: you can’t escape Taylor Swift these days. She is always on TV–even hanging out with Mr. Double Jab Travis Kelce-MaAuto. She graces the cover of Time Magazine. And her music is everywhere.

For some reason, many in Trumpworld have decided to take aim at Swift and declare her sudden ubiquity in the media to the scheming of nefarious actors. I attribute it to the fact that she attracts eyeballs in a valuable demographic.

As something of a Swiftie–well, maybe not, but I liked her album 1989–I can confidently say that Taylor Swift’s ubiquity is nothing new. It is only notable because a new demographic is being exposed to her–the viewers of Kansas City Chiefs football games.  This, it turns out, is a demographic less likely than most to pay attention to the comings and goings of Swift, so it may seem odd that she appears to be everywhere.

It isn’t. It is called celebrity. Few conservatives that I know are deeply invested in celebrity culture, but then again, few Millennials are deeply invested in the NFL or read Time Magazine, so it washes out.

Swift, who stayed out of politics for most of her career, has come out as a liberal, and this seems to be a key point in the conspiracy theory.

A liberal celebrity? Knock me over with a feather! Beege Welborn at Hat Hair cites Zero Hedge: Anyone Notice Lady Gaga Shilling for Pfizer?

The genocidal profiteers trafficking in human misery in Pfizer’s marketing department, before whom Josef Goebbels would flush with envy, recently hijacked one of my YouTube crust punk videos (wrong demo, no disposable income) to sell migraine pills — this time featuring Lady Gaga.  Via Pfizer:
“An Academy Award®, Golden Globe® Award, and 13-time Grammy® Award-winning actress and philanthropist, Lady Gaga was diagnosed with migraine when she was 14 years old, and it has had a profound impact on her life.

‘Lady Gaga’s story is a powerful reminder of how significantly migraine affects the lives of so many people,’ says Angela Lukin, Global Primary Care and U.S. President, Pfizer. ‘We believe that this collaboration will help raise awareness of this often ‘silent’ disease and inspire those living with migraine to have conversations with their healthcare providers about the best way to manage their condition’”

By showcasing Lady Gaga’s experience, Pfizer hopes to help people better understand the effect migraine can have on their lives and to show people living with the disease that they are not alone.”
Translating the PR speak: “By showcasing Lady Gaga’s plastic-surgeried-to-hell avatar for NPC millennial/zoomer rubes on DeepStateTube, Pfizer hopes to open new profit-generating avenues with a non-geriatric audience that has thus far avoided our ads that saturate CNN or Fox News.”

[Gives me the willies. She looks like a Saran-Wrapped lizard woman out of a really bad original Star Trek episode. ~ Beege]

Laura Lynch (c)
She has migraines and likes money, Pfizer has a useful drug for migraines, and lots of money. Seems like a natural fit to me. To Beege, at least you noticed her, right? At Da Caller, Founding Member Of Dixie Chicks Killed

A founding member of the Dixie Chicks, Laura Lynch, was killed Saturday in a car accident in Texas, according to a press release. Texas authorities stated that the 64-year-old musician had gotten into a head-on collision with another vehicle that was attempting to pass on a two-way highway.

A preliminary report indicates Lynch was driving eastbound on U.S. 62 when another driver traveling westbound attempted to pass another vehicle on a “two-way undivided portion” of the highway, according to the press release.  Following the head-on collision, the westbound driver’s vehicle caught fire while Lynch’s vehicle rested inoperable in the wastbound lane. The Dixie Chicks founding member was pronounced dead on the scene by authorities, according to the press release. The other driver was rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities reported.

She quit before they went woke. Stacy McCain. ‘Oh, We’re Halfway There’ "Why has Jake Bongiovi proposed to Milly Bobby Brown so young?"

Because I don’t watch much TV except news and sports, I know almost nothing about Millie Bobby Brown, one of the stars of a popular Netflix science-fiction series, Stranger Things. As for her fiancĂ©, well, his dad used to be kinda popular in the 1980s, and maybe still is, if you count karaoke singalongs. When their engagement made headlines in April, there was a good deal of journalistic chatter: “Oh, they’re so young!”

Georgia and I weren't a lot older when we got engaged, back in the 70s.

Really? During the 1950s, the median age at first marriage for women in the United States was 20.3 years, which is to say that nearly half of weddings involved teenage brides. Such was life in the Golden Age of middle-class America, when Dwight Eisenhower was president. You would probably risk a United Nations human rights investigation if you advocated a return to the 1950s status quo ante, what with all the propaganda directed toward denouncing “child brides” (by which they mean any girl marrying before age 18). This is why Millie Bobby Brown’s engagement at 19 was “controversial,” as if she were a helpless child in a Third World village being bartered off by a tribal leader in some kind of primitive exchange where the father of the bride gets a herd of goats.

She's worth at least one small herd of goats.

Tattoo Tuesday

Joe Jonas got a telling new tattoo following his split from Sophie Turner and their subsequent custody battle.

Jonas debuted serval new pieces of ink at a Jonas Brothers concert in Edmonton, Alberta Tuesday night — including one about being “broken.”

The “Sucker” singer put his heavily-tatted body on full display in a white ribbed tank top, revealing a newly inked William Stafford quote on his bicep.

“I have woven a parachute out of everything broken,” the simple black lettering read.

The quote was written in all capitals, placed right on the inside of the 34-year-old’s arm.

Shouldn't he be worried about a red wedding or something?

It's Good To Be the King!

Thai king Maha Vajiralongkorn anoints his mistress as his official concubine: Army nurse and former bodyguard becomes the royal consort... in a bizarre ceremony attended by the new queen
Thailand's King has made his mistress a royal consort in a ceremony attended by his new wife, marking the first time the country's modern monarchy has publicly admitted to polygamy.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X, made his former bodyguard Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi, 34, his chao khun phra (royal noble consort) in a ceremony on his 67th birthday.

Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi

Queen Suthida was sitting next to him throughout the unusual ceremony and showed no emotion despite the fact she now has an official rival for the King's attention.

He poured ceremonial water over Ms Sineenat's head to officially anoint her a concubine during a televised service on Sunday.

Well, He Won't Be Able to Say He Wasn't Warned

Bad Gamblers and Bisexuality
Have you ever heard of the TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine? It’s a comedy. Anyway, this was the news in People magazine last October:
Wedding bells will be ringing soon for Stephanie Beatriz — the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress got engaged to Brad Hoss over the weekend.
“Brad and I hosted our first party together this weekend: his friends, my friends and my sister all came,” the actress, 36, tells PEOPLE exclusively about the surprise proposal. “During the party, Brad pulled me aside. I’m thinking he’s going to tell me how great the party is going, that we make a great team … the usual lovely supportive thoughts he shares with me and really everyone who knows him.”
I've heard of it, but I haven't watched any.

However, Hoss’s words were a bit sweeter than usual.
“He starts to pull something out of his pocket. My initial thoughts as a member of Bachelor nation is, ‘Oh my goodness, is this the moment where he asks me to marry him in front of a bunch of people?’”
Indeed, Hoss popped the question, and “the words were barely out of his mouth” before Beatriz said ‘yes,’” she adds. “I then started laughing … a lot!”
What would you estimate the odds of success of this marriage to be? Well, how about if I informed you of some more recent news?
Consider the fate of celebrity guys who married bisexual women. Angelina Jolie wrecked Brad Pitt’s life, and Johnny Depp was riding high until he made the mistake of marrying Amber Heard. It doesn’t matter who you blame for those Hollywood divorces; the point is that there is a negative correlation between bisexuality and marital permanence. The odds are clearly against long-term success, and if Stephanie Beatriz’s fiancĂ© thinks he can beat those odds, well, good luck with that.

How many previous lesbian lovers has Stephanie Beatriz had? If her attraction to women is so persistent that she’s “bi till the day I die,” why didn’t she end up with a woman? Shouldn’t we suspect that Brad Hoss is marrying a woman so crazy that no lesbian wanted her? Like, the only woman he can get is one from the “Rejected by Lesbians” pile?
It’s like a bad gambler, shoving all-in on a pair of threes.

On the other hand, he’s 36 and bald, and his acting career hasn’t been very successful. If you’re an unsuccessful actor in Hollywood, probably you don’t have a lot of options, but I can’t imagine that being a desperate bald guy improves the odds of your marriage succeeding.
Eh, it's Hollywood. The chance of both the marriage being serious and her really being bisexual are sufficiently low that I don't think we need worry about it excessively.

Silly Hats from the Royal Wedding

I don't give a damn about "royal" weddings (though, best of luck to Harry and Meghan, the royal life is almost not worth the trouble), but I do get a kick out of the silly hats English women wear to the events.  A delightful tradition to keep people from thinking about what's happening. Starting out with a somber Queen Lizzie:

I have to sit through this shit again?

Crystal Left Out in the Cold?

Or, as cold as it gets in Southern California? Hugh Hefner's wife Crystal Harris, 31, 'will inherit nothing after signing an ironclad prenup before their wedding and was never added to his will'
Hugh Hefner's wife Crystal Harris will inherit nothing due to an ironclad prenup that means she was never added to his will, it has been reported.

The couple, who shared a 60 year age gap, tied the knot on New Year's Eve in 2012 at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles.
We covered the marriage back in 2012.
Before the nuptials, Harris was said to have signed an 'ironclad' prenuptial agreement.

A source told US Weekly that while the blonde beauty will be taken care of, she won't receive a penny of his fortune.
We discussed the prenup in previous blog posts.  But, of course, the proof of an "iron-clad" prenup lies in a court of law.
Instead, his estimated $43million estate, will be divided between his four children, the University of Southern California and a list of charities.

That number doesn't take into account the Playboy Mansion which was sold in 2016 for $100 million.

The $43 million figure was first revealed back in 2009 when Hefner divorced his second wife Kimberly Conrad.

At his peak, the Playboy magnate was worth upwards of $200 million, but as the magazine's popularity tanked, Hefner lost millions.

Comme ci comme ça
By the time of his death the 91-year-old held 35 percent of the Playboy brand and still completely owned the magazine.

He had $36 million worth of stocks and bonds and $6 million in a joint account with an unnamed person.

His monthly earnings from the magazine only totaled $100,000, with the rest coming from his pension.
I'm sure someone kind can find a job for a hot 31 year old model.

Alas, No More Brangelina to Kick Around

Angelina Jolie files for divorce from Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences.

According to the court documents, the pair separated on September 15, two years and one month after they married in August 2014.

Jolie is seeking physical custody of their six children and asking the court to grant Pitt visitation.
My goodness, another Hollyweird break up? Whodda thunk?
She is also asking to keep "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects" as well as any earnings from after the date of their separation and other separate assets to be determined later.

Already there is speculation that a tabloid-friendly, child-unfriendly custody battle may ensue over their six children. But a source close to them asserted that both sides want a cordial breakup.
Good for them. It's not like they won't have enough assets no matter how the kids are distributed. But we'll see. I've seen better people fight over kids.
"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids," Pitt said Tuesday in a statement to CNN. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Jolie's camp is also focused on the children. "Angelina will always do what's in the best interest to protect her children," Geyer Kosinski, Jolie's manager, told E! News in a statement Tuesday. "She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time."
OK, just one for the girls:

Floron du Jour

Man Drove Six Miles With Wife Atop Car - Floridian, 69, claimed not to realize spouse was on roof
According to investigators, Richard Addy, 69, and his wife Elizabeth argued early Tuesday morning after they had consumed “several drinks over the course of the night” at a pair of bars. Richard told cops that he eventually decided to “leave the scene” without his 50-year-old spouse.

Addy said that he drove away in a 2011 Toyota Sequoia, but “did not realize that his wife was on the roof of the vehicle.” It was only when he stopped at a traffic light that he “heard her banging on the roof and realized that she was there.”

However, instead of stopping, Addy drove on, he claimed, because he “did not have a cell phone to call the police.” Addy said that he went by the county courthouse in the hope of finding a “police presence,” but when he spotted no officers, he continued driving.
Not looking too sorry.
Do you stop and apologize to an angry Grizzly Bear?

Addy finally came to a halt when Officer Christopher Ruediger of the Stuart Police Department spotted Elizabeth atop the auto and pulled the car over. Elizabeth, the cop noted, “was yelling for help and waving her hands at me.” The vehicle was stopped at an intersection six miles from where Addy began his trip.
. . .
While Ruediger noted detecting “a strong odor of alcoholic beverage” coming from Addy’s breath, Addy was only arrested for reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and permitting a passenger to ride on the exterior of a vehicle. The reckless driving citation issued by Ruediger noted that, “Wife riding on roof for several miles.”
Awe, come on, it could happen to anyone. In Florida.

Never Marry Anyone Crazier than You

Another example of assortative mating? People with Mental Health Disorders Often Marry Each Other. I'm sure you all know a few examples from your life, too.
People with psychiatric disorders may be likely to marry and have children with other people who also have psychiatric disorders, according to a new study from Sweden.

The study did not examine why people with psychiatric conditions, such as schizophrenia and depression, may tend to mate with other people with such conditions, and therefore, the mechanisms behind this phenomenon are not clear, said Ashley E. Nordsletten, a co-author of the study and a postdoctoral research fellow at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.

But one possible reason is that people may simply select partners who share certain traits with them, she told Live Science.
. . .
It turned out that people with psychiatric disorders were more likely to marry and have children with people with either the same disorder as they had or a different psychiatric disorder, than they were to marry and have children with people without psychiatric disorders.
Could it just be that sane people avoid crazy people, leaving them to marry each other? Some questions are just that simple.

Love, Oregon Style

Oregon's first lady admits illegal marriage to Ethiopian immigrant
John Kitzhaber and Cylvia Hayes

No, it's not quite what you might think. The "First" Lady of Oregon is not married to the governor, she's merely the fiance thereof, although she has the official title (How very French!). And it turns out she once sold her hand in marriage for a herd of goats few thousand bucks.
Oregon first lady Cylvia Hayes admitted Thursday she illegally married an Ethiopian immigrant because she needed money and he needed help to stay in the United States.

Hayes said she married 18-year-old Abraham Abraham in 1997 during a "difficult and unstable period in my life." She said she was ashamed and embarrassed by the marriage, and for that reason, she never disclosed it to her current fiance Gov. John Kitzhaber.

"This is the most painful part for me," she said. "John Kitzhaber deserved to know the history of the person he was forming a relationship with. The fact that I did not disclose this to him meant that he has learned about this in the most public and unpleasant way."

Hayes' admission comes after the Willamette Week discovered she had been married and divorced three times - not two - and that the previously undisclosed third marriage was to Abraham. She told Willamette Week that Kitzhaber did not know about the third marriage until Tuesday afternoon.

The marriage with Abraham took place on July 19, 1997 in Washington state when Hayes was 29 years old, according to the Washington State Department of Health certificate of marriage.

"We met only a handful of times. We never lived together. I have not had any contact with him since the divorce finalized in 2002," Hayes said.

Immigrants can obtain citizenship in the U.S. through marriage, but the U.S.government doesn't recognize relationships as marriages if the purpose is to evade U.S. immigration laws.
As pointed out by Jazz Shaw at Hot Air, this isn't just picking on the Democratic governor's girl friend because it's easy, she is actually a political player in Oregon:
Hayes isn’t just the governor’s squeeze; she’s a political consultant who’s “taken an active role in . . . developing the governor’s energy and environmental policy.”
All I want to say is that America's a great country; where else can a girl go from flat broke and selling herself to foreigners to political power 16 years?

It Seemed Inevitable

Polygamy effectively decriminalized in Utah as judge strikes down ban in victory for husband and his FOUR wives who appear in TV show ‘Sister Wives’
A judge has ruled that parts of Utah's law banning polygamy are unconstitutional, effectively decriminalizing the practice, in a victory for the family that appears in the reality TV show 'Sister Wives'.

Kody Brown, who stars in the TLC reality show with his four wives, filed a lawsuit against the state after leaving Utah fearing prosecution after the programme aired.

Now a federal judge has issued his final ruling in the case that strikes down parts of the state's anti-polygamy law.
The next question is why one would want multiple wives (or husbands). One is complicated enough. However, if a good looking Russian or Thai women was to volunteer to keep the house. . .?

Under the ruling, multiple marriages were not deemed legal, but the co-habitation with multiple unofficial wives (spouses?) was not to be discriminated against.

I've never been interested enough to watch the show, but it looks like the pro-agonist is more of a hippy than a Mormon. I've always maintained that the problem with polygamist marriages would be how to permit it for hippies and Muslims, and forbid it for Mormons, who are not a favored minority.

What's next? Consensual incest and necrophilia seem like the logical choices, as both are clearly victimless crimes.

Secret of Happy Marriage Revealed at Long Last

Yet another 6 AM Eye Opener (TM) inspired by Wombat-sochos "Live at Five" meme:

Jessica Alba (an early Rule 5 special, to whom I did not dedicate nearly enough digits) has revealed the route to domestic bliss as she sees it. Having Girls' Nights Out to Complain About Your Husband
She's telling it like it is! Jessica Alba reveals the secret to a harmonious family life in the latest issue of Self Magazine—making sure you make time to go out with your girlfriends and moan about your husband!
Yeah, that probably works.  Goodness knows men bitch about their wives to other men, and find it a lot less pleasant when they do it to their wives. At least that's my experience. Just don't take it too seriously.

She also reveals diet secrets:
“I have the same food philosophy for myself as I do for my kids," she explained. "We eat mostly lean protein and fresh fruit and vegetables, nothing processed or from a box, if we can. For me, when I don’t eat a ton of carbs, I have more energy. But I’ll for sure have a piece of chocolate. I will mow through a bowl of guacamole. If I’m not going to have dessert, I’ll have a martini.”
Not too bad, looks like a workable scheme, but how much guacamole can you eat without chips? I also see my problem is combining my ice cream bar with my bourbon and diet coke. But no, I'm not giving that up. I don't aspire to Jessica Alba's figure:
