Flotsam and Jetsam - Nate Says No
At Da Wire, Prominent Pollster Nate Silver: Biden On Track To Lose To Trump, Dems Have
‘No Plans To Fix The Problems.’ Mike Miller at RedState, Nate Silver Drops Truth Bomb on White House for Trying to Hide Biden's
Cognitive Decline Althouse, Nate Silver poses "A simple challenge to the White House" to prove Biden's
fitness as a candidate.
At Substack:
Over the course of the next several weeks, Biden should do four lengthy sitdown interviews with “non-friendly” sources....Yeah, of course, it's not too much to ask, but I think we all know in our heart it is too much for him to do. It's hard to picture him even doing 2 of these things. Or one.
For instance, Biden could pick... • A lengthy sitdown interview with the Washington bureaus of the New York Times or Washington Post. • An interview with 60 Minutes.... • An interview with some sort of center-right print or digital outlet... say the Wall Street Journal op-ed page.... • Wild card.... Go on Ezra Klein's podcast? Go on Rogan? Just kidding, I think. But Bernie Sanders did it....
This really isn't too much to ask.

A handful of states might grant an exception, but the state Democrat parties would have to shift to a caucus system instead -- and even that would be tricky, and likely wouldn't provide any other candidate with nearly enough delegates to win a nomination. Second, there is another DQ motion on the table over Fani Willis' public comments about the case and the principals in it, whom she cast as "racist" in remarks that got widely publicized in the jury-pool area. Forget It Jake, It's Baltimore
Da Sun, The Baltimore Sun purchased by Sinclair’s David D. Smith "Business leader uses own funds in deal, returns Sun to local ownership"
The Baltimore Sun, the largest newspaper in Maryland, has been acquired in a private deal by David D. Smith, executive chairman of Hunt Valley-based television station owner Sinclair Inc.
Smith said Monday that he acquired Baltimore Sun Media on Friday from investment firm Alden Global Capital, marking the first time in nearly four decades that The Sun will be in the hands of a local owner.
Smith decided to personally buy the newspaper, along with the Capital Gazette papers in Annapolis, Carroll County Times, Towson Times and several other Baltimore-area weeklies and magazines, because of the publications’ focus on local news in the Baltimore area.
“I’m in the news business because I believe … we have an absolute responsibility to serve the public interest,” Smith said in an interview. “I think the paper can be hugely profitable and successful and serve a greater public interest over time.
. . .
Smith would not disclose how much he paid for Baltimore Sun Media. He purchased the newspaper group independently of Sinclair, which is known for its ownership of television stations and local news programming across the U.S. and a recent failed foray into regional sports network ownership. The Sinclair empire started with Baltimore’s WBFF Fox 45 television station.
Through his purchase of The Sun, Smith said he aims to help turn around a struggling newspaper industry, a decline he blamed on the industry’s inability to adapt to a changing market and to the internet, which has upended consumption and delivery of news and advertising.
He said he believes he can grow subscriptions and advertising for The Sun and its other publications by focusing more heavily on local and community news and investigations, boosting the use of video and social media, and integrating technology in ways other print media companies have been unable to do.
Smith criticized “mainstream media” in general for focusing on issues he said affect only a few people as opposed to those affecting greater numbers, adding that he finds it “curious that the mainstream media in this town often chooses not to cover things that affect everybody,” in particular concerning problems and corruption in government.
He said his first step will be to meet with staff and management of The Sun and its affiliates Tuesday to begin to understand the publications’ mission and operations and start discussions around future vision.
Capt. Ed at Hat Hair comments "This sounds exciting. It’s the first major newspaper purchase by a conservative owner that I can recall for a very long time. Smith says he wants to focus on local news and fact-based reporting as a model for profitability, almost exactly the opposite approach Jeff Bezos took with the Washington Post. It will be very much worth watching, especially for Williams’ contribution."
I usually have low cost leader e-subscription to the Sun which I use mostly for Chesapeake Bay related content. If it actually does become a more conservative paper, we might have to drop the WaPoo and pick up the Sun. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Random Celebrity News
For some values of "random," "celebrity" and "news." avid Strom at Hat Hair claims Taylor Swift Is Not a PsyOp: Human Events@HumanEvents, "It's no secret
that Taylor Swift is immensely popular among the younger generation, but is
the media helping push her and the DINK (dual income, no kids) lifestyle she
promotes on Americans? Jack Posobiec and Evita Duffy say yes."
The theory is based on an obvious fact: you can’t escape Taylor Swift these days. She is always on TV–even hanging out with Mr. Double Jab Travis Kelce-MaAuto. She graces the cover of Time Magazine. And her music is everywhere.
For some reason, many in Trumpworld have decided to take aim at Swift and declare her sudden ubiquity in the media to the scheming of nefarious actors. I attribute it to the fact that she attracts eyeballs in a valuable demographic.
As something of a Swiftie–well, maybe not, but I liked her album 1989–I can confidently say that Taylor Swift’s ubiquity is nothing new. It is only notable because a new demographic is being exposed to her–the viewers of Kansas City Chiefs football games. This, it turns out, is a demographic less likely than most to pay attention to the comings and goings of Swift, so it may seem odd that she appears to be everywhere.A liberal celebrity? Knock me over with a feather! Beege Welborn at Hat Hair cites Zero Hedge: Anyone Notice Lady Gaga Shilling for Pfizer?
It isn’t. It is called celebrity. Few conservatives that I know are deeply invested in celebrity culture, but then again, few Millennials are deeply invested in the NFL or read Time Magazine, so it washes out.
Swift, who stayed out of politics for most of her career, has come out as a liberal, and this seems to be a key point in the conspiracy theory.
The genocidal profiteers trafficking in human misery in Pfizer’s marketing department, before whom Josef Goebbels would flush with envy, recently hijacked one of my YouTube crust punk videos (wrong demo, no disposable income) to sell migraine pills — this time featuring Lady Gaga. Via Pfizer:
“An Academy Award®, Golden Globe® Award, and 13-time Grammy® Award-winning actress and philanthropist, Lady Gaga was diagnosed with migraine when she was 14 years old, and it has had a profound impact on her life.
‘Lady Gaga’s story is a powerful reminder of how significantly migraine affects the lives of so many people,’ says Angela Lukin, Global Primary Care and U.S. President, Pfizer. ‘We believe that this collaboration will help raise awareness of this often ‘silent’ disease and inspire those living with migraine to have conversations with their healthcare providers about the best way to manage their condition’”
By showcasing Lady Gaga’s experience, Pfizer hopes to help people better understand the effect migraine can have on their lives and to show people living with the disease that they are not alone.”Translating the PR speak: “By showcasing Lady Gaga’s plastic-surgeried-to-hell avatar for NPC millennial/zoomer rubes on DeepStateTube, Pfizer hopes to open new profit-generating avenues with a non-geriatric audience that has thus far avoided our ads that saturate CNN or Fox News.”

| Laura Lynch (c) |
A founding member of the Dixie Chicks, Laura Lynch, was killed Saturday in a car accident in Texas, according to a press release. Texas authorities stated that the 64-year-old musician had gotten into a head-on collision with another vehicle that was attempting to pass on a two-way highway. She quit before they went woke. Stacy McCain. ‘Oh, We’re Halfway There’ "Why has Jake Bongiovi proposed to Milly Bobby Brown so young?"
A preliminary report indicates Lynch was driving eastbound on U.S. 62 when another driver traveling westbound attempted to pass another vehicle on a “two-way undivided portion” of the highway, according to the press release. Following the head-on collision, the westbound driver’s vehicle caught fire while Lynch’s vehicle rested inoperable in the wastbound lane. The Dixie Chicks founding member was pronounced dead on the scene by authorities, according to the press release. The other driver was rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities reported.
Because I don’t watch much TV except news and sports, I know almost nothing about Millie Bobby Brown, one of the stars of a popular Netflix science-fiction series, Stranger Things. As for her fiancé, well, his dad used to be kinda popular in the 1980s, and maybe still is, if you count karaoke singalongs. When their engagement made headlines in April, there was a good deal of journalistic chatter: “Oh, they’re so young!”
Georgia and I weren't a lot older when we got engaged, back in the 70s.
Really? During the 1950s, the median age at first marriage for women in the United States was 20.3 years, which is to say that nearly half of weddings involved teenage brides. Such was life in the Golden Age of middle-class America, when Dwight Eisenhower was president. You would probably risk a United Nations human rights investigation if you advocated a return to the 1950s status quo ante, what with all the propaganda directed toward denouncing “child brides” (by which they mean any girl marrying before age 18). This is why Millie Bobby Brown’s engagement at 19 was “controversial,” as if she were a helpless child in a Third World village being bartered off by a tribal leader in some kind of primitive exchange where the father of the bride gets a herd of goats.
She's worth at least one small herd of goats.

"Mostly Peaceful Protesters" Sack CNN Atlanta
When they were rioting in Minneapolis, they were thugs and hoodlums, but attacking CNN? Civil rights heroes:Unlike most of the people whose businesses have been damaged or destroyed by the vandals that CNN has rooted on, I have zero sympathy for CNN.
A protest erupted at CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta Friday amid nationwide demonstrations following the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd, with many of the protesters seen vandalizing the entrance of the building in videos posted to social media.Terrible? No, it’s beautiful. Karma is a beautiful thing.
A crowd gathered in front of the CNN Center and grew over the course of several hours, initially breaking windows and spray-painting the CNN sign, and later throwing objects — including what appeared to be a firecracker that exploded — and reportedly shooting BB guns into the lobby.
The iconic CNN sign, a popular tourist destination in the downtown area, was covered with graffiti and others were seen jumping on top of the structure.
A CNN journalist captured footage of a window being shattered by the crowd, which can be heard sparking cheers.
Law enforcement eventually cleared the area, pushing the crowd further down the street.
Reporting from CNN correspondent Nick Valencia showed multiple police cars that were set ablaze and Georgia State Police entering the scene.
“This is terrible to witness, it’s terrible to witness,” Valencia told CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.
If you were hoping to see the mob dragging Brian Stelter’s lifeless corpse through the streets or parading with Jake Tapper’s head on a pike, however, you’ll be disappointed, because Jake works out of CNN’s D.C. bureau and Stelter’s in New York, not the Atlanta headquarters.
