Beer Drinking for the Bay

Fordham Brewing, founded in Annapolis but now located in Delaware, is donating some of its beer profits to help an Eastern Shore museum.

A portion of the proceeds from the company’s Rosie Parks Oyster Stout is being sent to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael’s, the company announced.

The money will help with the restoration of the Rosie Parks, a 1955 skipjack being restored by the museum.

Skipjacks are wooden sailboats used to dredge oysters from the Chesapeake Bay. Once the dominant boat in the oystering fleet, there are just a handful of watermen still harvesting with skipjacks.

The Rosie Parks Oyster Stout is available in a limited run of 22-ounce bottles sold in Maryland, Virginia, Washington and Delaware. The beer contains bay oysters and shells “contributing a slightly briny taste in the beer” that pairs well with oysters, according to the company.
Another oyster beer for charity?  I'd drink it.  Fordham makes decent beer.
