The Monday Morning Stimulus

At Times News, You can grow your own cup of coffee indoors, just not very much:
About 20 years ago, while on vacation in Nashville,, I saw my first coffee plant growing inside a greenhouse. I was fascinated to learn that its red “cherries” grew in bunches and that each cherry contained two seeds, which are what we call coffee beans.

I was also surprised to learn that coffee can be grown indoors and, with proper care and some patience, will even produce beans that can be roasted (or toasted) for brewing, although likely just enough for a cup or two. Still, with its beautiful glossy green leaves, fragrant white flowers and shrubby habit, Coffea arabica makes a handsome and fun houseplant.

You should have no trouble finding it at larger nurseries and houseplant catalogs and websites.

RIP: Illya Kuryakin

Sharon Tate, Danica D'Hondt,
David McCallum and Jill Ireland
Aka David McCallum. Vanity Fair reports David McCallum, Star of ‘NCIS,’ ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,’ Dies at 90

David McCallum, who starred as Illya Kuryakin alongside Robert Vaughn’s Napoleon Solo in the 1960s hit spy drama “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and had a supporting role as pathologist Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard on the top-rated series “NCIS” decades later, died Monday of natural causes in New York City. He was 90.

His son Peter made a statement on behalf of his family, saying, “He was the kindest, coolest, most patient and loving father. He always put family before self. He looked forward to any chance to connect with his grandchildren, and had a unique bond with each of them. He and his youngest grandson, Whit, 9, could often be found in the corner of a room at family parties having deep philosophical conversations.

With first wife, Jill Ireland

“He was a true renaissance man — he was fascinated by science and culture and would turn those passions into knowledge. For example, he was capable of conducting a symphony orchestra and (if needed) could actually perform an autopsy, based on his decades-long studies for his role on NCIS.

“After returning from the hospital to their apartment, I asked my mother if she was OK before she went to sleep. Her answer was simply, “Yes. But I do wish we had had a chance to grow old together.” She is 79, and dad just turned 90. The honesty in that emotion shows how vibrant their beautiful relationship and daily lives were, and that somehow, even at 90, Daddy never grew old.”

With second and final wife, Katherine Carpenter
The James Bond-influenced “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” in which Vaughn’s Solo and McCallum’s Kuryakin battled the evil forces of THRUSH around the globe (thanks to the glories of stock footage), was quite the pop-culture phenomenon in the mid-1960s, even as the show’s tone wavered from fairly serious to cartoonish and back again over its four seasons. It spawned a spinoff, “The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.,” starring Stefanie Powers, as well as a few feature adaptations during the run of the TV series, “One Spy Too Many,” “One of Our Spies Is Missing” and “The Karate Killers,” that starred Vaughn and McCallum.

McCallum also guested as Kuryakin on sitcom “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies”; he reprised the role in 1983 for TV movie “The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.: The Fifteen Years Later Affair.”

With Pauley Perrette from NCIS

In an appreciation of “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” series in the Boston Globe in 2008, Mark Feeney wrote, “Where Vaughn’s Solo was chilly, McCallum’s Kuryakin was cool — very cool indeed. If Julie Christie had the ’60s’ sexiest lower lip, as she most certainly did, then McCallum was a distant second. Add in his blond bangs, high cerebral forehead, and penchant for dark turtlenecks, and a teen idol was born.”

I was a big of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", at least the first couple of seasons, and of the Illya Kurykin character in particular. IIRC, I even had a turtleneck or two, in imitation. I could never see him in any other role without thinking of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. However, I got used to him as "Ducky." Damn this makes me feel old.

Rule 5 Saturday - Ireland Baldwin - a Chip Off the Old Blocks

I was inspired to do this Rule 5 post by an aside in a "Flotsam and Jetsam post in which she appeared briefly:
At Yahoo! Ireland Baldwin: My Pregnancy Is Hard, And Having ‘Idiots’ In The Family Doesn’t Help.
Ireland Eliesse Baldwin (born October 23, 1995), also known as Ireland Basinger Baldwin, is an American fashion model. Baldwin started modeling and acting in 2013 and appeared in the film Grudge Match and in editorials for magazines such as Grazia. Baldwin is also a vocal advocate for animal rights and posed for PETA 24 years after her mother did.
With father, Alex Baldwin

I'll try not to hold that (or your father) against you.

Baldwin was born in Los Angeles to actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. She is also the niece of actors Stephen, Daniel, and William Baldwin and cousin to model Hailey Bieber. She has three younger half-sisters: Carmen, Lucia, and Ilaria; as well as four half-brothers: Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, and Eduardo; through her father's second marriage.

At age 11 in 2007, she gained attention in the media after her father left her an angry voicemail message, which became publicized. He stated that she was "a rude, thoughtless little pig".

With mother, Kim Basinger

To be fair to Alec, children often are rude, thoughtless little pigs. Some improve.

In Case You Hadn't Heard

Amber shit the bed, literally. Breitbart, Amber Heard Left ‘Defecation’ in Johnny Depp’s Bed, Bodyguard Testifies

Aquaman star Amber Heard left “defecation” in Johnny Depp’s bed after an argument — a move she referred to as “a horrible practical joke gone wrong” — the actor’s bodyguard testified under oath on Thursday at the Depp-Heard defamation trial.

Depp’s bodyguard Starling Jenkins told the court on Thursday that he and Heard “had a conversation pertaining to the surprise she left in the boss’ bed prior to leaving the apartment” while he was driving the actress to Coachella one day in 2016.

When asked to clarify what he meant by “the surprise,” Jenkins specified, “The defecation.”

Depp’s bodyguard went on to say that Heard had referred to the defecation as “a horrible practical joke gone wrong.”

Jenkins’ testimony corroborates Depp’s claim in the courtroom last week that Heard or one of her friends had defecated in their bed after an argument in which he said he was leaving her.

During his testimony, Jenkins also said that Heard “got sick” on “magic mushrooms” and red wine while attending Coachella.

“She was eating the magic mushrooms and drinking red wine on an empty stomach,” he said.

Jenkins also testified that before leaving for Coachella, Heard threw Depp’s belongings — including his phone — off the balcony and onto the street.

Mushrooms and red wine? I would have paired mushrooms with a nice Pinot grigio, but de gustibus non est disputandum.

The bodyguard explained how he tracked Depp’s phone using the Find My iPhone app, and eventually found the actor’s phone “on skid row,” in the possession of a homeless man, who he paid off with “$420, chicken tacos, chips, apples, [and] Fiji water” to get the phone back.

I've heard some references to the hot-crazy matrix with regard to  Amber Heard, but I'm not sure how well this applies to Johnny Depp, who is pretty clearly on the crazy scale himself, although in a different way.

Amber's beau prior to Johnny was Elon Musk, who is quite openly not a normal human being (whether or not he's better is still open to question.) Clearly, she has a type, and it's not normal.

Hilarious!

Megan Fox at PJ Media, Cultural Appropriation Alert: Alec Baldwin's Wife Torched for Faking Spanish Accent and Heritage

Hilaria Baldwin is married to Alec Baldwin, the mouthy star who does a terrible impression of Donald Trump for Saturday Night Live. Hilaria, or Hillary Hayward Thomas as she was known growing up in Boston, is on the receiving end of internet sleuths who seem to be out to cancel her for faking a Spanish accent and lying about where she was born. Page Six has the story.
Hilaria Baldwin has been forced to defend her fluctuating Spanish accent — and admitted that her name is “Hillary.”

The wife of Alec Baldwin took to Instagram Sunday morning after a Twitter storm erupted following a tweet which read: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person.”

Baldwin’s own bio on her agency’s speakers site states that she was born on the island of Mallorca, Spain, and raised in Boston. Her 2016 interview with Hola! magazine also stated: “Hilaria, who was born in Spain, has made certain to raise her children with her native language, Spanish.”

During TV appearances, she has spoken with a pronounced Spanish accent, and on one occasion during a cooking segment she even seemingly forgot the English word for “cucumber.”
Here’s an ABC video of her with a strong accent describing married life, and another of her “forgetting” how to say cucumber.
Here she is pretending not to know how to say cucumber in English 😭 pic.twitter.com/g8xYNktsNY

The Closer, One Degree from Kevin Bacon

Her favorite interrogation outfit in her

Yet another TV policewoman to celebrate before the power-that-want-to-be erase them. Kyra Sedgewick as The Closer.
Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965)  is an American actress, producer and director best known for her starring role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson on the TNT crime drama The Closer. For her portrayal of Johnson, Sedgwick won a Golden Globe Award in 2007 and an Emmy Award in 2010. The series ended on August 13, 2012, following the completion of its seventh season. Sedgwick is also known for her recurring role as Madeline Wuntch on the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Sedgwick married actor Kevin Bacon on September 4, 1988.  Sedgwick learned in 2012, via her appearance on the U.S. TV show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, that she and Bacon are ninth cousins, once removed. . . . The family resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Sedgwick and Bacon lost part of their savings in the Ponzi scheme of swindler Bernard Madoff.
That might help explain the Tremors movie franchise.

RIP: Kirk Douglas

EBL, Kirk Douglas, RIP, And The View from Lady Lake Douglas' best role - by my thinking - was in 'Lust for life' playing Van Gogh.
Kirk Douglas, one of the most famous American leading men of the mid-20th century remembered for his dimpled chin, chiseled features, and virile Hollywood roles, died Wednesday at the age of 103, his family announced.

"It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103," Kirk's son, Michael Douglas, wrote in a statement shared to social media.

He continued: "To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.
I particularly like the article Ann Althouse dug up at the NYT: "He was born Issur Danielovitch on Dec. 9, 1916... 'the son of illiterate Russian Jewish immigrants in the WASP town of Amsterdam,' one of seven children, six of them sisters."
"By the time he began attending school, the family name had been changed to Demsky and Issur had become Isadore, promptly earning him the nickname Izzy. The town’s mills did not hire Jews, so his father, Herschel (known as Harry), became a ragman, a collector and seller of discarded goods. 'Even on Eagle Street, in the poorest section of town, where all the families were struggling, the ragman was on the lowest rung on the ladder... And I was the ragman’s son.' A powerful man who drank heavily and got into fights, the elder Demsky was often an absentee father, letting his family fend for itself. Money for food was desperately short much of the time, and young Izzy learned that survival meant hard work.... [T]he summer after he graduated from college... he decided to change his name legally to something he thought more befitting an actor than Isadore Demsky. (When he chose Douglas, he wrote, 'I didn’t realize what a Scottish name I was taking.')"

From "Kirk Douglas, a Star of Hollywood’s Golden Age, Dies at 103/His rugged good looks and muscular intensity made him a commanding presence in films like 'Lust for Life,' 'Spartacus' and 'Paths of Glory'" (NYT).
103!

No Bones About It

Almost two years after Bones ended its run of more than a decade at Fox, the stars and executive producer of the crime drama have partially prevailed in their profit participation battle with the company, for now.

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz and EP Barry Josephson have been issued a hefty award of almost $179 million in the case, it was revealed today in a court petition by attorney Dale Kinsella and lawyers for the actors. However, the matter looks to be far from over as Fox is appealing the awarding of more than $128 million in punitive damages that it says are in contradiction to the initial contracts the actors and Josephson inked for Bones years ago.

“This is a tremendous victory for the Bones profit participants who created and starred in the longest-running drama series to air on the FOX network,” Josephson lawyer Kinsella said today about what is one of the largest awards in TV legal history (read the award here).
The "funny accounting" used in Hollywood is legendary. Good for Emily, David and Barry for taking the risk to try to get theirs back.
“The ruling by this private arbitrator is categorically wrong on the merits and exceeded his arbitration powers,” said 21st Century Fox this morning as the company filed its own paperwork disputing the award, which arbitrator and former Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lichtman ruled on earlier this month. “Fox will not allow this flagrant injustice, riddled with errors and gratuitous character attacks, to stand and will vigorously challenge the ruling in a court of law,” the company added, as it brought giant-slaying attorney Daniel Petrocelli plus Molly Lens of O’Melveny & Myers on board for the appeal.

While seeking to have the vast majority of the huge award tossed out, Fox is not contesting the non-punitive damages of $50,240,048 that a JAMS arbitrator handed out to the Bones EPs.

Slim Pickens at Russigate This Morning

Slim with MTM
Not a lot of Russiagate Today. But my Covington file folder runneth over the page. I'm still thinking about whether or not to do anything with it.

Over At lthouse: "Former FBI top lawyer James Baker just admitted involvement in FISA Warrant and further admitted there were IRREGULARITIES in the way the Russia probe was handled."
"They relied heavily on the unverified Trump 'Dossier' paid for by the DNC & Clinton Campaign, & funded through a big Crooked Hillary law firm, represented by her lawyer Michael Sussmann (do you believe this?) who worked Baker hard & gave him Oppo Research for 'a Russia probe.' This meeting, now exposed, is the subject of Senate inquiries and much more. An Unconstitutional Hoax."

Trump tweets this morning — here and here.

Here's the news as reported by Fox, "Former top FBI lawyer personally involved in FISA warrant for Trump aide, other Russia probe irregularities, transcript shows."
How dare Trump object to having his 4th Amendment rights violated! At CNN Mueller wants to know about 2016 Trump campaign's ties to NRA
"When I was interviewed by the special counsel's office, I was asked about the Trump campaign and our dealings with the NRA," Sam Nunberg, a former Trump campaign aide, told CNN.

The special counsel's team was curious to learn more about how Donald Trump and his operatives first formed a relationship with the NRA and how Trump wound up speaking at the group's annual meeting in 2015, just months before announcing his presidential bid, Nunberg said.

Nunberg's interview with Mueller's team in February 2018 offers the first indication that the special counsel has been probing the Trump campaign's ties to the powerful gun-rights group. As recently as about a month ago, Mueller's investigators were still raising questions about the relationship between the campaign and the gun group, CNN has learned.

A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Unless it concerns the Russians, its none of his business. Now appoint a Special Prosecutor to ask the Democrats relations with Planned Parenthood, or any of a large number of shady lobbying groups.

Da Caller, OLIVER: BuzzFeed’s Flub Reveals Mueller May Not Have A Lot On The President — And Never Will
There are two significant points in this story. The first is that the special counsel thought it necessary to do something to counter the BuzzFeed report. Even that is extraordinary, given the tight-lipped practice of Robert Mueller’s operation.

What was the point of the special counsel’s statement? Presumably to negate a report that would hobble the president from carrying out his presidential duties.

But the real significance of the special counsel’s unprecedented statement is what it tells us about Robert Mueller. If Mueller thought it necessary, in the interest of allowing the president to carry out his constitutional responsibilities, to scotch the BuzzFeed report, it suggests that he would not pursue his investigation into the Russia collusion business past the point where he had found sufficient, convincing evidence of impeachable behavior by President Trump.

If, say, five months ago, Mueller had found sufficient evidence to lead to the cashiering of the president, his action today suggests he would have made that evidence public at that time.
Well, it's more flattering to Mueller than Mark Levin's theory that he's just covering his own ass. Both can be true simultaneously. At Politico, Supreme Court keeps cloak over mystery Mueller subpoena fight. Still fighting over a whether he has jurisdiction over what a Russian company, owned by the government, can do abroad. Treat spies as spies, not litigants.

WaPoo: Democrats to ask Whitaker whether the White House has interfered with Mueller’s probe. Interfered should be in "scare quotes". It's an administration probe, and it needs to be administered.
Nadler said he recognized the White House may seek to claim executive privilege and prevent Whitaker from answering. If the president plans to invoke such a privilege, Nadler wants at least 48 hours notice, he wrote.

He said that “short of a direct and appropriate invocation of executive privilege, I will expect you to answer these questions fully and to the best of your knowledge.” He also said, “I would view with considerable skepticism any effort to decline to answer on the basis that the inquiry is related to an ongoing criminal investigation.”
Which is the FBI and DOJs favorite dodge to Republicans.

AP, Trump, others agitated by Giuliani’s performance. Hot Air: “I Am Afraid It Will Be On My Gravestone. ‘Rudy Giuliani: He Lied For Trump’” One thought is that it's a version of the Hillary Clinton "old news" strategy. You heard it before, however garbled, so it's "old news." Or Giuliani could just be senile.

Lloyd Billingsley at Front Page, The Real Russian Agent: Suffice it to say he looks an awful lot like Barack Obama.

When in Trouble, Blame the Dead Guy

She’s following the first rule of crisis PR: When things look really bad, blame it on your now-dead boyfriend who just committed suicide.

Argento’s going to force #MeToo observers to wrestle with a hard question. Why should they give other sexual-assault victims the benefit of the doubt on their accusations but not her alleged victim? Is it a matter of numbers, i.e. there are 100 women accusing Harvey Weinstein versus one lone man accusing Argento? Or is it a matter of Argento supposedly being more credible because she’s spoken out passionately on victims’ behalf?
Jimmy Bennet (Left), John Robinson and Asia Argento at
"The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things" wrap party in 2003.

Neither one works. It can’t be that extolling #MeToo is a talismanic presumption of innocence on assault charges in the court of public opinion or else every pervert in the world will suddenly be a cheerleader for #MeToo. And it can’t be a pure numbers game, or else anyone who’s accused of assaulting “just” one person is exempt from the “Believe the victims!” rallying cry.
Asia Argento and Anthony Bourdain

If you want to beat back an accusation, explain with particulars why it’s false. She doesn’t do that here. What she does — and tell me if this sounds familiar — is attack the alleged victim as a greedy blackmailing liar looking for an easy payday.

Bennett was “undergoing severe economic problems,” she says (the NYT story yesterday noted that he had sued his parents over his earnings a few years before), and therefore she and Bourdain decided to “deal compassionately” with his demand for money. So they cut him a check for … $380,000, which was a lot of money to Bourdain and Argento. One of the shocking details revealed after his death a few months ago was that he wasn’t worth nearly as much as most people thought a TV star and author might be. His estate was valued at all of $1.2 million.

Which means, if it’s true that Bourdain picked up the tab for Bennett’s payoff, he gave the kid a quarter of his net worth. Does that seem likely?
Well, Anthony can't complain, right?

#NotHerToo, Apparently

Chris Hardwick and Chloe Dykstra
Chris Hardwick Rises From The (Talking) Dead After #MeToo Allegations
While he didn’t draw nearly as many headlines in the #MeToo saga as people like Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick also found himself out of work with AMC and other media outlets earlier this summer. The comedian and host of multiple talk shows and game shows was ejected from the Hollywood field of play after his former girlfriend, Chloe Dykstra, accused him of physical, mental and emotional abuse during their sometimes rocky relationship.
Oh, so she accused him of something awful after a nasty break up? Yeah, women never make up stories after something like that, do they?
At the time I expressed some serious doubts about the story. While nothing could be ruled out entirely and we can never truly know what’s in a person’s heart, Hardwick had always struck me as pretty much the direct opposite of the kind of guy who fit the Me Too mold. Also, the charges came entirely from a single accuser with many other women offering very different characterizations of him. On top of that, the accuser was someone who had allegedly been cheating on Hardwick near the end of their relationship and things didn’t end well.
Well, I never knew these two at all before this story, so I guess I can claim to be unbiased, except for my genetic white male, sexist patriarchal outlook which I can't help.
AMC has wrapped up what they’re describing as a thorough investigation done by outside experts (how does one become an “expert” in this field?) and concluded there was no basis to remove Hardwick. He will be returning to his previous duties next month. (NY Daily News)
So, did you know that Chloe was big into cosplay?
Chloe Frances Dykstra (born September 15, 1988) is an American actress, cosplayer, and model. She produces and co-hosts a web series Just Cos for the Nerdist Industries' YouTube channel and is a cast member of the SyFy show Heroes of Cosplay. She is also a freelance game journalist for a number of websites. She was featured in a Daily Dot article for her parody photo essay of Me In My Place pin-up blog photos. Dykstra was born in Los Angeles, California and is the daughter of American special effects artist John Dykstra. Dykstra had her first major acting role starring as Cello Shea in the film Diminuendo opposite Battlestar Galactica star Richard Hatch.
It's good to see that some #MeToo charges are at least reconsidered in the light of contrary evidence.

Charlie Sheen Spent $300,000 - $400,000 on Hookers

On June 9, 1993, Fleiss was arrested and charged with five counts of pandering. “The other players like Madam Alex were all working with the LAPD, giving lists of their clients on a weekly basis,” says Nick Broomfield, director of the 1995 doc Heidi Fleiss: Hollywood Madam. “Heidi wouldn’t play the game. She broke all the rules. She kind of did it for fun, which was why she was so successful.” The case went to trial, where Charlie Sheen testified he’d spent $53,000 a year on Fleiss’ services. A jury convicted her on three counts, for which she received a three-year sentence. That conviction was overturned in 1996, but a federal tax-evasion case the next year led to a 20-month stint in prison in Dublin, California.

Today, the 52-year-old Fleiss lives with dozens of exotic birds on the outskirts of Pahrump, Nevada. She spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her lasting place in show business infamy.
. . .
Why did Sheen end up going public as a client during your trial?

The only reason his name came out is that when I was arrested, I had travelers' checks in my purse with his name on them. On the stand he said a much lower amount than he actually spent with me. He probably spent closer to $300,000 or $400,000 on girls. He said something like $60,000.
Let that be a lesson to you. Don't pay for your hookers with travelers checks with your name on them.

#HimToo! Morgan Freeman Accused of Sexual Harassment

Chloe Melas
Women accuse Morgan Freeman of inappropriate behavior, harassment
. . . In one incident, she said, Freeman "kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear." He never successfully lifted her skirt, she said -- he would touch it and try to lift it, she would move away, and then he'd try again. Eventually, she said, "Alan [Arkin] made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn't know what to say."

Freeman's alleged inappropriate behavior was not limited to that one movie set, according to other sources who spoke to CNN. A woman who was a senior member of the production staff of the movie "Now You See Me" in 2012 told CNN that Freeman sexually harassed her and her female assistant on numerous occasions by making comments about their bodies.

"He did comment on our bodies... We knew that if he was coming by ... not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted," she said.

In all, 16 people spoke to CNN about Freeman as part of this investigation, eight of whom said they were victims of what some called harassment and others called inappropriate behavior by Freeman. Eight said they witnessed Freeman's alleged conduct. These 16 people together described a pattern of inappropriate behavior by Freeman on set, while promoting his movies and at his production company Revelations Entertainment.

The allegations of inappropriate behavior by Freeman are not limited to the confines of his company or to movie sets. Three entertainment reporters who spoke to CNN said Freeman made inappropriate remarks to them during press junkets, which are publicity events for journalists who cover new films, typically attended by the movie's biggest stars.

One of the three, CNN entertainment reporter Chloe Melas, the co-author of this article, says she was subjected to inappropriate behavior by Freeman more than a year ago, when she interviewed him at a press junket for "Going in Style." According to Melas, who was six months pregnant at the time, Freeman, in a room full of people, including his co-stars Arkin and Caine, shook Melas' hand, not letting go while repeatedly looking her up and down and saying more than once a variation of, "I wish I was there." She says he also said to her, "You are ripe." Cameras were on and recording during one of Freeman's remarks to Melas -- "Boy, do I wish I was there" -- but not for the rest. As is common practice with such junkets, Melas was the only CNN employee there at the time.
It's harder for the pregnant girls to run . . .
Afterward, Melas reported what had happened to her supervisor, who instructed her to inform CNN human resources. According to Melas, she was told that CNN HR contacted their counterparts at human resources for Warner Bros., which produced and distributed the movie, and which like CNN is owned by Time Warner. Melas said she was also told that Warner Bros. HR could not corroborate the account because only one of Freeman's remarks was on video and the Warner Bros. employees present did not notice anything. Melas and her supervisor agreed that she would not cover the movie.

Asked for comment, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. confirmed that what Melas was told was accurate, but declined to comment further. A representative for Caine declined to comment. A representative for Arkin said he was not available for comment.
I would have thought Morgan Freeman would be immune due to "Magical Negro" privilege. Well, it didn't work for the Cos either. And none of  the allegations rises to Harvey Weinstein, or even Bill Clinton levels. Sounds more like George H. W. Bush; age related lack of control issues.

Stacy McCain: Latest #MeToo Target: Morgan Freeman
Well, he didn’t drug them and rape them, as far as we know, nor has anyone (yet) alleged that Freeman masturbated in front of women, but there is no scale of wrongdoing in the Sexual Harassment Apocalypse — no standards of evidence, no due-process, no statute of limitations. Just one allegation by one accuser would be enough to destroy any man’s reputation and livelihood. Eight women? Sorry, Mr. Freeman.

Your career is over. How’s that #Resistance workin’ out for ya?

Femen Takes on the Coz

 Nicolle Rochelle
Former ‘Cosby Show’ actress protests topless at Bill Cosby’s sexual assault retrial
A topless protester who charged at Bill Cosby as he arrived at his sexual-assault retrial Monday morning has been identified as Nicolle Rochelle, a 39-year-old actress who appeared in four episodes of “The Cosby Show.”

The Associated Press reports that Rochelle jumped over a barricade outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in suburban Philadelphia and got within a few feet of the comedian, 80, who has been charged with drugging and molesting a woman in 2004. Rochelle, a resident of Little Falls, N.J., was obstructed by sheriff’s deputies and charged with disorderly conduct.

Rochelle belongs to Femen, an international feminist group whose name she had written on her torso in paint alongside the phrases “Women’s Lives Matter” and “Cosby Rapis[t]” and the names of more than 50 Cosby accusers. Femen leader Inna Shevchenko told the AP that Rochelle was defending the alleged victims and called her protest the group’s “contribution to the global revolt launched by #MeToo.”

Rochelle, credited as Nicole Leach, played a friend of Rudy’s on “The Cosby Show.” She also starred in children’s programs “Shining Time Station,” “The Baby-Sitters Club” and “Clarissa Explains It All” in the 1990s. Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt commended the deputies for intercepting Rochelle and told the AP, “You never know who’s going to want to make a name for themselves.”
I'm sure a good time was had by all.

Actress Nicole Eggert is accusing actor-director Scott Baio of having "molested" her repeatedly when she was 14 until she was 17.

In a series of tweets Saturday morning, the former Charles in Charge and Baywatch star told another Twitter user commenting on Baio's support for President Donald Trump, "Ask @scottbaio what happened in his garage at his house when I was a minor. Creep."

In subsequent replies to Twitter users commenting on her tweet, Eggert described herself as a "molested child" and said that she was 14, 15, 16 and 17 when the alleged incidents occurred. To another user, she described the alleged assaults: "What is ur explanation for him fingering me at age 14?"
Scott is 4 years older than Nicole, so yes, if true, 14 was kind of young, although in the picture above, they look of a similar age.
The pair starred together on Charles in Charge, which ran from 1984 to 1990, on which Baio played the title character and Nicole played Jamie, one of the children college student Charles became a caretaker for when he moved into a house off-campus.

In response, Baio's wife, Renee Baio, tweeted that his legal team had served Eggert with two cease-and-desist letters.

Baio added, on Twitter, "I'm about to do a Facebook live to prove her claims are 100% lies! #NicoleEggert."
I never watched "Charles in Charge", I'm familiar with her from "Bay Watch."
In his video, Baio, whose wife can be heard from off-camera, addressed Eggerts' claims, saying, "The reason I’m doing Facebook Live is because no one can edit me…. This is the truth."

He went on to say that in 2012 and 2013, when Eggert first made claims against him, the actress was promoting reality shows she appeared in. Baio said he opted not to respond to the claims at that time. He then produced two letters, dated from last year, to Eggert and Charles in Charge costar Alexander Polinsky, who Baio claims "decided to team up against" him, telling them both to go to the police if they had legitimate claims.

Baio ended his video by saying, "I don't know what else to put out there. She's my best friend in the world, then all of a sudden I'm the bogeyman. The problem with almost all he said/she said cases is they're he said/she said. Now, go prove it or disprove it...the real problem with this is people with legitimate claims aren't taken seriously, and that's too bad."
There is a problem with the statute of limitations here (assuming this occurred in California):
To seek damages for harm resulting from sexual abuse, an individual must file a civil lawsuit. If filing a civil sexual abuse suit against a private entity (i.e., an individual), a California victim must file the claim within 8 years of reaching majority. The age of majority in California is 18, so the person alleging abuse must file the lawsuit before reaching age 26.
A late hit.
