Flotsam and Jetsam - Will Musk Vote Himself Out?

The Musk/Twitter affair continues. Nick Arama at Red State reports Musk and Taibbi Demand Answers About FBI Asking Twitter to Track Americans, Nail Ted Lieu in Troubling Admission. Ted Lieu@tedlieu, Replying to @therealakeboshi and @elonmusk "Um, this is a public FBI program from 2017. So of course I was aware of it. Because I also can read." Matt Taibbi@mtaibbi "Instead of chasing child sex predators or terrorists, the FBI has agents — lots of them — analyzing and mass-flagging social media posts. Not as part of any criminal investigation, but as a permanent, end-in-itself surveillance operation. People should not be okay with this."  Da Caller reports Even Twitter’s Censorship Chief Was ‘Perplexed’ By FBI Demands,"Roth added “I’m not particularly comfortable with the Bureau (and by extension the IC) demanding written answers,” and asked coworkers how to “best navigate” the situation, according to Taibbi." Catherine Salgado at PJ Media, FBI Gives Dismissive Reply to Twitter Files Revelations of FBI-Twitter Censorship, ”The FBI regularly engages with private sector entities to provide information specific to identified foreign malign influence actors’ subversive, undeclared, covert, or criminal activities. Private sector entities independently make decisions about what, if any, action they take on their platforms and for their customers after the FBI has notified them.” Like internet jokes. At Am Con, Lessons from the Musking of Twitter. "If Twitter can survive without woke bureaucrats, maybe the national security state can, too."

At BBR, Sen Kennedy ‘Beating on him like he stole Christmas’: Senator says Musk has ‘oranges the size of beach balls’ Anxious is anxious about Musk's magical media-shifting machine "Why it matters: It's as if the New York Times editorial page suddenly flipped to the right. With the reins in Musk's hands, the right is gaining power in online spaces the left once dominated."

Althouse find the WaPoo whines "A confrontation between a member of Elon Musk’s security team and an alleged stalker that Musk blamed on a Twitter account that tracked his jet..." ""... took place at a gas station 26 miles from Los Angeles International Airport and 23 hours after the @ElonJet account had last located the jet’s whereabouts. The timing and location of the confrontation cast doubt on Musk’s assertion that the account had posted real-time 'assassination coordinates' that threatened his family and led to the confrontation...."  At Twitchy, Aaron Rupar finally learns how Twitter works after 11 years on the platformAaron Rupar@atrupar "The rules are so vague you can get banned for anything, which is probably the point" Bonchie@bonchieredstate, "Local man discovers how Twitter has always been."

At Da Wire, Elon Musk Suspends Leftist Taylor Lorenz From Twitter: ‘Such Shameful Behavior Will Not Be Tolerated’ "Lorenz claimed in a blog post that she “received zero communication from the company on why I was suspended or what terms I violated.”" Refer to Bonchie, above. KT at Haut Hair, Taylor Lorenz suspended from Twitter, points finger at Elon Musk (Update). Was it her relentless doxxing of conservatives, or her persistent use of Twitter to promote her other social media? Ed Driscoll at InstyTWITTER BANS PROMOTION OF ACCOUNTS ON OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITES, INCLUDING FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND TRUTH SOCIAL. "Why, it’s as if: Elon Musk makes it up as he goes." At Da Fed, Evita Duffy writes Corporate Media Can Stomp And Cry All It Wants, Its Special Twitter Privileges Are Ending. At Spiked, Oh, so now you care about Big Tech censorship? "Elon Musk’s suspension of journalists has revealed the depths of liberal hypocrisy." Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media notes how Musk Applies Twitter Rules to Libs and the Poor Dears Lose It. Jordan Boyd at Da Fed thinks Censorship’s Biggest Cheerleaders Will Always Be Our Corrupt Corporate Media with a big picture of Taylor Lorenz.

At PM, BREAKING: Elon Musk launches poll asking if he should step down as head of Twitter, vows to abide by results. "Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll," he wrote. At the time of writing, the poll results are not yet in." At Da Wire, Elon Musk May Step Down As The Head Of Twitter Pending Results Of New Poll. Jazz Shaw at Haut Hair worries about The end of Musk? (At Twitter, anyway.) Or the end of Twitter itself?. Althouse detects a semantic loophole, It depends on what the meaning of "abide by" is. Elon stepping down is currently winning 57-43%. Honestly, I don't see how Musk can pay as much attention to Twitter as he does and still run his empire. Does this mean, having re-established something like fairness at Twitter, he'd like to turn it over to someone else to steer the ship? In his position, I would.

Stacy McCain sees Secondhand ‘Stolen Valor’? As Lying Joe Invents Purple Heart Story About Uncle. Stacey Matthews at LI, ‘Fact Checkers’ MIA After After Joe Biden Tells Whopper About Giving Uncle a Purple Heart "Not only is there no record of “Uncle Frank” winning the Purple Heart in WWII, but “[t]he president’s father died in 2002; his uncle died in 1999.” Da Wire, Biden Claims His Uncle Won Purple Heart During World War II Battle, But Details Make Biden’s Story Impossible. Bob Spencer at PJ Media, We Knew Joe Biden Was a Big Liar, but This Is Ridiculous. At NYPo, Biden slings ‘anti-Irish’ words, claims to be Italian in gaffe-ridden speech. Mostly, people just don't take him seriously, he's been a liar for so long. Mike LaChance at LI, Progressive Group Begs Joe Biden Not to Run in 2024. “No amount of bravado from the White House can change the severe vulnerabilities that a Biden 2024 campaign would face.” Front Page eagerly anticipates The Coming War Over Hunter Biden, "The opposite of a heartwarming American story."

From the Conservative Brief, Schumer, Pelosi, Brag About Setting Up Trump While Dining During CNN Interview. Sundance at CTH, President Trump Warns GOP House, The Alternative to McCarthy Could be Worse. Entirely likely. Kangaroo court prepares criminal referrals against Trump is the Haut Hair headline for JTN's Jan. 6 committee preparing to vote on criminal referrals against Trump, "Former president may be charged with “insurrection” for brief Capitol riot." 'Bonchie' at Red State, Confirmed: January 6th Committee Will Jump the Shark With Final Move Against Donald Trump. Nick Arama at Red State thinks the GOP will Take Down Jan. 6 Committee With Their Own Report

The Republicans are going to issue their report, from their committee, made up in part of the Republican appointees who Pelosi refused to accept, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH). They will rebut the Democratic report and focus on real points about the failures of security as opposed to the purely political effort to get Trump in which the Democrats are engaged. They’re calling out the “official” report for the Democratic propaganda it is.

It won't matter because the MSM won't report it.  At Am Great, the redoubtable Julie Kelly  reports on how Justice Department Lies About Absent Prosecutor, "Just like everything out of Garland’s department, the notion that Jack Smith is in charge and his staff is “independent” is a total fabrication." The usual political hacks are doing the real work.

Dan Chaitin at Da Wire reports Georgia Election Inquiry Into Trump Nears Critical Juncture "The panel, which has the authority to subpoena witnesses and documents, but not to issues indictments, is now putting together a final report, which may include recommendations for criminal charges, sources told CNN. A group of Fulton County judges would first review the report from the 23 jurors before Willis would make a decision about whether to pursue charges by impaneling a separate grand jury, per The Wall Street Journal." Mary Sholl at Am Think thinks It's 'Trump Will Never Be President' All Over Again. Roger Kimball at Am Great, Trump, For a Limited Time Only "It’s hard to know what to make of Trump’s entry into the world of NFTs. But his commitment to free speech and limiting the activities of deep state censorship should be applauded." Mark Lewis at Town Hall asks Why Do Liberals Hate Trump So Much? Because he stole their candy when he beat Hillary in an election they thought they had cheated fair and square to win. And, well, they hate every Republican President with a burning passion. Brandon Weichert at Am Great thinks Only Ron DeSantis Can Win in 2024, "Ron DeSantis’ time is not in 2028. It is now, heading into 2024. Or it will never happen."

From Da Caller, ‘I’m Sick Of It’: Laura Ingraham Says ‘Old Turtles’ Partly Responsible For Midterm Results. Certainly true. At JTN, Grassley, Hawley slam DHS for redactions of disinfo docs: 'The people’s business ought to be public'. "Congress "a separate and co-equal branch of government," senators point out." At WaEx, 'I’ll let you know later': Manchin avoids questions on his future with the Democratic Party. Hmm.

Jazz Shaw at Haut Hair reports North Carolina supreme court strikes down voter ID law in absurd decision, ruling black and brown people are too stupid to get ID. Sarah Arnold at Town Hall, NC Supreme Court Rejects Voter ID Law, Claims It’s Discriminatory. David Thalheimer at Da Fed explores  How Arizona’s Attempt To Pass Voter ID Laws Ironically Failed At The Ballot Box. "If polls show strong bipartisan public support for voter ID laws at about 80 percent overall, why did this voter ID measure fail? Paul Gottfried at Am Great worries about Mail-in Ballots Forever, "Unless Republicans address Democratic election procedures decisively, they should prepare for another licking in 2024."

John Nantz at Front Page examines The FBI’s Heart of Darkness "A glimpse into subversive campaigns. . . . The real problem is, the boogie man is really a hydra. Chop one head off and a new one sprouts to replace it.

At WaEx, Prosecutors reportedly in touch with Democratic and GOP campaigns over FTX-tied donations. Claw that money back.

At the College Fix, Educator brags about indoctrinating kids, then complains about ‘right-wing’ reporting on it “All you right wing conspiracy theory nut jobs who seem to think the teachers are out here just indoctrinating children into some sort of woke agenda that you can’t actually define, I’m just going to come clean,” Godbout says. “I am, in fact, indoctrinating your children.” Don Surber worries that We are letting weirdos run things "The media hailed Sam Brinton as the first transvestite to serve as the deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the Office of Nuclear Energy. The rest of us knew bald, mustachioed men in dresses should not be running the government because if they cannot govern themselves, how can they govern others?"
