It would appear now that we are in a country run by an aging Mafia don. Our highest elected official stands credibly accuses of bribery and coercion, while the law enforcement arm of the government seek to cover up and minimize his crimes, and criminalize attempts at revealing scheme. And it's not clear we can vote our way out of this, even if we could find enough votes to do so. The thumb is on the scale everywhere, to the extent needed to maintain the façade that we have a choice. Moreover, the vast majority of the media is rooting and doing the bidding of the bad guys.
