The truth of the matter is that the progressive extremists out there see “diversity” as all that matters. Victoria’s Secret started bringing in transgender and obese models because that was more diverse and that’s all that mattered to anyone.
Maybe someone thought it would make the lingerie feel more accessible or something, but that’s kind of the point. They didn’t understand the brand or why people bought that brand.
They didn’t need to be shown overweight women wearing the same lingerie. That kind of killed the fantasy for many women. They could wear those products and envision themselves as a supermodel. No one was interested in feeling fat wearing expensive underwear that was supposed to make them feel sexy.
And let’s be real here, for all of Megan Rapinoe’s “misogyny” claims, do you know who buys an awful lot of lingerie? Dudes. They buy it because they want to see their ladies in that.
Yet it seemed that in their desire to appease the mob, Victoria’s Secret forgot what made their brand what it was.
The problem with the extreme progressives isn’t that they make demands. We’ve always had people with demands and we always will.
No, the issue is that they have captured just the right audience to magnify their views to the point that many believe that extreme progressivism is the mainstream opinion.
