Keeping Up with the Biden Crime Family

Where's Hunter these days? Cramming to teach his new course on media martyrdom? Mary Chastain at LI, Hunter Biden Will Guest Host Tulane U. Class on ‘Media Polarization’ "This is not a joke. Hunter will speak to a class on fake news. You cannot make up this stuff." Across da pond at Da Mail, Hunter Biden the PROFESSOR: President's son will guest teach a class on 'fake news' at Tulane University this fall for students interested in 'media polarization. "Deep Education" takes care of the "Deep State."

Continuing the story of Hunter's disappearing and reappearing gun, Henry Rodgers at Da Caller reports Republicans Call On Biden’s ATF Director Nominee To Investigate Hunter Biden For Potential Felony. As the Victory Girls note, Biden Demands Gun Control For You, Not Hunter.

Da Caller checked, and 100 Days Into Biden’s Presidency, Hunter Still Owns Stake In Chinese Private Equity Firm, Business Records Show. So who's going going to buy a business who's value depends on being the son of the President? It's a very limited market. Eric Trump? Digging into his records Seamus Bruner and John Solomon find Hunter Biden business ambitions in China included building SeaWorld parks, memos show "Deal involved a former U.S. ambassador to China, a former top Joe Biden aide and a Chinese state-owned bank. "We have all the pieces in place in China to move on this," one email boasted."

On other links to China Natalie Winters at TNP reports Top Biden Adviser’s Brother Lobbying For Tech Firms Linked To Huawei And Chinese Military. What's the point of having a brother in high places if you can't get some of that sweet Chinese cash (pun noticed)? She also points out how Biden Chief Of Staff’s Wife Openly Collaborated With Chinese State Media. Well, somebody has to help suppress the Uyghur genocide. Not everybody has the stomach for it. "I've signed an ethics agreement that requires me to divest of all of my individually owned stocks, like all federal appointees, within 180 days, and I certainly will do that," Granholm told Politico on Monday.
After she and Biden promoted the stock well upward. As Tom Lehrer says of the "Old Dope Peddler", doing well, by doing good.

Reason #92-96 Trump Should be Reelected

John Hawkins at Bongino, 5 Big Things Americans Can No Longer Take for Granted if Joe Biden Becomes President

1) That we’ll have 9 members of the Supreme Court: There have been 9 justices on the Supreme Court since 1869, but Democrats are so upset that Donald Trump got to pick 3 justices that they’re now seriously discussing packing the Supreme Court. Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have rather famously refused to say whether they’ll support that, so it’s a real possibility. Unfortunately, the moment the Democrats pack the court, the Constitution effectively ceases to exist, and the law becomes whatever the Democrats want it to be.

2) That the police will be there if there’s trouble: What you’re seeing in many liberal cities is regular rioting supported by government officials. The police aren’t allowed to use effective tactics to stop the riots and worse yet, in many cases, the district attorneys simply release the vast majority of the rioters without charges. In those situations, the police inevitably pull back because there’s no point in arresting people that will be on the streets free and clear the next day with the blessing of the DA. So, what happens when people with that mentality control the Department of Justice? Could you see the DOJ go after police departments for doing their jobs? Absolutely. Could you see the DOJ under Biden accuse police departments of being racist for not letting protesters block traffic or harass people in residential neighborhoods? Absolutely. There a lot of Democrats that want to turn every city in America into Minneapolis or Portland and under Joe Biden, they may increasingly get their way.

3) That you won’t be locked down again: The lockdowns were completely ineffective at stopping the Coronavirus and they did devastating damage to the economy. Although there’s no chance Trump would lock the country down again, Joe Biden has said he is willing to do it. As the Wall Street Journal noted:

4) That we’ll have a stable government: One of the other changes near and dear to the hearts of Democrats is getting rid of the filibuster in the Senate. If that were to happen and Democrats controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency, they could do anything they wanted. The Green New Deal, banning guns, reparations, making Puerto Rico a state, you name it. Of course, those moves would probably be unpopular, which could mean that the Republicans could take over, promptly reverse everything the Democrats did, and make their own sweeping changes. Those types of wild shifts would be bad for the public, bad for the economy, and would lead to instability.

5) That we’ll have another fair election: Of course, there would be a simple solution to the problem posed in #4. You change the rules so that the other side can never take power again. If the Democrats packed the Supreme Court (which they are considering) and got rid of the filibuster for legislation (which they are considering), it would be very easy for them to change the rules of the game to lock Republicans out of power. If the Democrats didn’t do it and Republicans got back into power, the GOP would be fools not to do it because eventually, the Democrats would. It’s an ugly scenario that would lead to the end of the United States as we know it, but there are quite a few powerful Democrats that would consider that a price worth paying for getting their way.

The second amendment concerns me too.

Los Angelenos Prepare to Swelter in the Sunshine

LA Mayor Declares Allegiance to the Green New Deal, Ditches Plans to Rebuild Natural Gas Infrastructure
Breitbart – Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has thrown caution to the winds, by announcing plans to cancel a vital multi-billion dollar dollar plan to rebuild three large gas plants.
Los Angeles ditches plan to invest billions in fossil fuels, Mayor Eric Garcetti says
By SAMMY ROTH, FEB 11, 2019 | 5:35 PM
Los Angeles is abandoning a plan to spend billions of dollars rebuilding three natural gas power plants along the coast, Mayor Eric Garcetti said Monday, in a move to get the city closer to its goal of 100% renewable energy and improve air quality in highly polluted communities.
The mayor’s decision marks an abrupt change of course for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, where top staffers have argued in recent months that the gas plants are critical to keeping the lights on in the city. Environmental groups have urged DWP to replace the aging facilities with cleaner alternatives, saying the gas-fired plants need to go because they contribute to climate change and local air pollution.
Los Angeles has steadily moved away from coal for electricity, divesting from the Navajo plant in Arizona three years ago and announcing plans to stop buying power from Utah’s Intermountain plant by 2025. But with coal, the most polluting fossil fuel, now nearly removed from the city’s energy mix, it’s time to start planning for a future with zero planet-warming energy sources, Garcetti said Monday — and that means no natural gas.
“It’s the right thing to do for our health. It’s the right thing to do for our Earth. It’s the right thing to do for our economy,” Garcetti said. “And now is the time to start the beginning of the end of natural gas.”
“This is the Green New Deal,” he added, referring to the sweeping climate change policies championed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) and endorsed by several contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination. “Not in concept, not in the future, but now.”

Who needs power system engineers? I mean they’re all pessimists, always telling leading climate visionaries like Mayor Eric Garcetti what they can’t do, instead of embracing our inevitable green destiny, and getting on with the job of saving the world, by building the clean energy system their mayor has demanded.
If he was for nuclear power, I could almost get on board, but the New Green Deal rejects nuclear power too. I grew up in Los Angeles without air conditioning. It's not fatal, it's just really hot sometimes.

They voted for it, I hope they like it. Sorry, bro.

At least the new governor seems to be willing to kill the train from Nowhere to Nowhere. Gavin Newsom Makes It Official: No to Statewide High-Speed Rail
In his State of the State address earlier today, California Governor Gavin Newsom sounded the death knell for the woefully planned and horribly administered high-speed rail system that had been favored by his two immediate predecessors.
“Let’s be real,” Newsom said in his first State of the State address. “The current project, as planned [from Anaheim to San Francisco], would cost too much and respectfully take too long. There’s been too little oversight and not enough transparency.”
The idea championed by Newsom’s predecessor, Jerry Brown, is years behind schedule. The latest estimate for completion is 2033.
Newsom, though, said he wants to finish construction that’s already under way on a segment of the high-speed train from Bakersfield to Merced, through California’s Central Valley, arguing it will revitalize the economically depressed region.
He’s also replacing Brown’s head of the state board that oversees the project and pledged more accountability for contractors that run over on costs.
The Bakersfield to Merced line will be of almost no practical use, unless you want easy travel to see the UC Merced Bobcats play the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners in men’s basketball. But perhaps now Gov. Newsom and his administration can prevail upon the zillionaires of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area to pony up and bring the line into San Jose. I hope the good people of the city of Anaheim don’t have buyer’s remorse over shelling out $185 million to reconfigure the tracks and build a beautiful new terminal only to now find out that they will just have the same old Amtrak and Metrolink trains chugging through, with daily ridership only about one-quarter of what had been expected.

I didn't even know this song existed; I was just checking to see if I was spelling "Los Angelenos" correctly.

Bwaaah Haa Haa!

From Stacy McCain: Mitch the Ninja Turtle Will Force Democrats to Vote on Their Own Plan

Amateur hour in the House Democrat majority — the blundering overreach of freshman Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez — gives Senate Republicans a chance to pounce and seize, so to speak:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the Senate would vote on the Green New Deal introduced last week by Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
“I’ve noted with great interest the Green New Deal, and we’re going to be voting on that in the Senate to give everybody an opportunity to go on record,” McConnell told reporters.
The proposal, which is not expected to pass the Republican-dominated upper chamber, could force some Democrats to make a politically awkward calculation.
Democratic liberals, including all of the senators currently running for president, have come out in support of the legislation, which calls for generating 100 percent of the nation’s power from renewable sources within 10 years. . . .
Democratic moderates have been less than enthusiastic about the proposal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi derisively referred to the House version of the resolution as a “green dream,” while only 11 of the 47 senators who caucus with the Democrats have signed on as sponsors.
(Hat-tip: Instapundit.) The clumsy attempt by Democrats to distance themselves from the crazy “Green New Deal” FAQ that has now been removed from Ocasio-Cortez’s website showed how the party’s brash young socialist celebrity was Not Ready for Prime Time. Even so eminent a progressive as Jonathan Chait has admitted that the problem with the proposal was not a “botched” roll-out, as some Democrats have claimed, but simply that the plan is a bad idea. And now McConnell, shrewd tactician that he is, will force Senate Democrats to vote on this idea.
People who can't pass a simple test on the three laws of thermodynamics should not be eligible for Congress.
