Random Celebrity News

Iggy Azalea
For some values of "random," "celebrity" and "news."

From Fox, Iggy Azalea claims Saudi Arabia authorities shut down her concert after ‘pants-splitting’ wardrobe malfunction. I would just assume it's part of the show.

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea suffered from a wardrobe malfunction during a performance in Saudi Arabia that she said caused her to end the concert earlier than expected.

After Friday night’s performance, Azalea, 33, took to social media to apologize to her fans for the concert mishap.

"Saudi Arabia please know to everyone at the show tonight… I LOVE YOU!!! And I’m soooooo sorry I wasn’t allowed to finish my show," she began on X, formerly known as Twitter. "It’s not the promoter who put on the shows fault so show them kindness because they are amazing people and we all wanted to continue but were not allowed by authorities because of my pants splitting."

The "Fancy" rapper additionally shared a video clip of her wardrobe malfunction on Instagram, as her leather pants are seen ripping as she bent her knees during her performance.

NYPo,  Former Olympic figure skater Alexandra Paul, 31, killed in multi-car crash as her toddler miraculously survives. That really sucks, but at least the kid made it.
Retired world-renowned figure skater and Olympian Alexandra Paul was killed in a multi-car crash in Canada on Tuesday as her toddler son was in the vehicle. She was 31 years old.

Paul was in one of the seven vehicles struck by an out-of-control truck that plowed through a construction zone in Melancthon Township, 70 miles north of Toronto. The truck allegedly failed to slow down in time before it slammed into the lineup of cars shortly after 3 p.m., according to The Canadian Press.

Paul’s 10-month-old son, who had been placed in the back seat, miraculously survived the crash and was transported to a nearby children’s hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Paul was pronounced dead at the scene, Canadian Press

Halley Pullos
She's not fat, and she's not openly gay or trans. Maybe SI is learning. At Da Mail, General Hospital star Haley Pullos, 24, is arrested for DUI after horrific wrong-way freeway crash with edibles and tequila in car: 'Aggressive' actress told firefighter to 'watch out for her $400 shirt' H/T EBL. A really Hollywood sweetie.
General Hospital actress Haley Pullos has been arrested for a DUI after being involved in a wrong-way crash. Pullos had been travelling on the 134 Freeway in California late last month and was involved in a reported head-on collision.

TMZ reported that the 24-year-old swerved on the freeway and flew over the median strip, before colliding with an oncoming car moving at 60 mph.

According to a report seen by the news site, Pullos was unable to exit her car and when firefighters did manage to rescue her she became aggressive, striking one and shouting: 'This is a $400 f****** shirt.'

Police then searched her vehicle and discovered marijuana edibles and mini bottles of tequila and was taken to hospital before being arrested for DUI. It is alleged that while in hospital she was aggressive and fought hospital staff, before she had to be sedated.

Maybe even worse, at Page 6, YouTuber Ruby Franke was arrested after ‘emaciated’ child with duct tape around extremities ran for help
YouTube star Ruby Franke of the “8 Passengers” channel was arrested Wednesday after an “emaciated” child with duct tape around their extremities escaped and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

The arrest record, obtained by Page Six Thursday, states that the child fled through a window of Franke’s business partner Jodi Hildebrandt’s house in Ivins, Utah, and asked the neighbor for food and water — but when the Good Samaritan noticed duct tape on the child’s ankles and wrists, they called police.

“The calling party stated the juvenile appeared to be emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds and duct tape around the extremities,” a statement from local authorities reads.

Police on the scene described the unidentified child’s wounds, neglect and malnourishment to be so “severe” that they transported the victim to the nearby Saint George Regional Hospital.

Elizabeth Olsen as Red Witch
From Bounding Into Comics,  Elizabeth Olsen Wants To Do More Than Just Scarlet Witch As MCU Dominance Quickly Declines: “There’s No Longevity In One Character”

Actress Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appears to see the writing on the wall for Marvel Studios as she recently shared she wants to play more characters than just Scarlet Witch.

Actress Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appears to see the writing on the wall for Marvel Studios as she recently shared she wants to play more characters than just Scarlet Witch.

Speaking with The Times (UK) about her acting future, Olsen made it abundantly clear that she wants to take on other acting roles outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She said, “I’m trying to figure out…Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want … it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character, but I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance.”

Olsen elaborated on this idea and tacitly blamed Covid for not allowing her to take on any roles due to her Marvel contract, “And then obviously Covid happened and I had Marvel obligations. Wind River and Ingrid Goes West were films that I was very proud to have selected and they were so different and you can’t compare them.”

“So I just want more of that in my life just because I get satisfaction from the variation,” she concluded.

Flotsam and Jetsam - Devin Archer's Turn in the Barrel

Well, that was interesting. As you may be aware, if you kept up the reading, that Devin Archer, Hunter Biden's business partner, who had been previously been convicted of defrauding the Oglala Sioux nation in a scheme unrelated to Hunter Biden (as far as we know), and sentenced to prison, but has been out on bond pending appeal, was scheduled to testify to the House today on his business deals with Hunter and his dad. Fox, Devon Archer, the man who will testify to Congress about his business dealings with Hunter Biden: Who is he? "Archer is expected to testify about meetings with Hunter also attended by Joe Biden." Wendell Husebø@WendellHusebo "NEW: @JamesComer provides 3 revelations today: 1. Archer could become a “hero” after testifying Monday 2. Treasury has 12 more SARS related to Bidens Comer must review 3. Joe Biden has knowledge of family’s money laundering, racketeering."

Well, for some reason known only to DOJ, they chose Saturday (what bureaucrat works on Saturday?) to send a letter to the judge in Archer's case, telling him that it was high time they actually arrested Devin and put him in the slammer (despite the pending appeal). Gee, what ever could their motives be? To remind Devin that he'll soon be in their hands, and that he might not want to say anything to piss them off? To remind the public that he is, for now, a convicted felon, and pre-discredit him as a witness? Matt Margolis at PJM, Biden DOJ Threatens to Arrest Devon Archer Before Bombshell Testimony. Twitchy, DOJ's latest move (arresting Devon Archer?!) to protect Joe and Hunter Biden is their SHADIEST yet. Schwartz said that they were aware of the speculation about the letter being an effort by the Biden administration to intimidate Archer. Schwartz said that “Archer does not agree with that speculation.” Schwartz said, “In any case, Mr. Archer will do what he has planned to all along, which is to show up on Monday, and to honestly answer the questions that are put to him by the Congressional investigators.”

It’s good if he doesn’t think that this is intimidation. Maybe he won’t be intimidated and will lay out the truth. It’s a lot to face, knowing the power that they might array against you. I hope that he’s not backing off. Let’s hope he sticks to his guns and doesn’t flip.

Then, finally, the DOJ issued a statement PM,  BREAKING: Biden's DOJ files NEW letter allowing Hunter's ex-business pal Devon Archer to testify in Congress Monday "The Government understands that the defendant is scheduled to provide testimony to Congress tomorrow, July 31, 2023." Last night, Ranking Member Raskin wrote an 11-page letter accusing us of "concealing" the former FBI Special Agent's transcript from the Democrats … except, we emailed it to them 10 days ago after we received it.

To save face, Raskin has resent his letter without those false accusations but now pretending not to know the Committee's operating procedure for releasing transcripts … You can't make it up.

The transcript is going through the normal review process where the witness and his/her counsel reviews it and is able to suggest any corrections needed. Once that process has been completed (and because in this case doing so mid-investigation will not harm upcoming investigative steps), we will release it.

To be clear, the former FBI Special Agent was interviewed by the Committee to offer independent verification of the events described in sworn testimony by the IRS whistleblowers. The transcript will show exactly that.

Rule 5 Saturday - TV Turns Tatania Maslany Green

This Rule 5 post prompted from BIC: ‘She-Hulk Attorney at Law’ Episode 1 Review: A Show That Exposes All The Flaws Of Progressive Screenwriting
Stating that the first episode of She-Hulk is awful doesn’t do anyone the due diligence in explaining the fundamental problem with modern Hollywood writing. Namely, there is a difference between storyline, and dialogue.

The story is the pillar that holds up the foundation of your creation, while the dialogue acts as the links in the chain that connect them together. A good writer knows great dialogue between strong characters can mean the difference between a show that lasts several seasons, or one that is canceled before it gets started.

This leads us to the latest television show that is a part of the longest cinematic soap opera in history – one too big for just the big screen. Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk, who is involved in a car crash that finds Mark Ruffalo’s MCU Hulk character accidentally exchange blood with his cousin, causing her to experience the same Hulk-like abilities as him. The only difference is that Jennifer has a much better handle on her powers than Bruce did at this point.
This is the first problem with the story, a show that only consists of nine episodes. The writers opted not to spend numerous episodes taking Walters on the same route that Bruce Banner did to control his anger. Instead, the show decides to fast forward past this arc by explaining that Jennifer is already great at controlling her anger better than Bruce, because she is a woman who deals with men every day.

Cue the obligatory sigh.

We enjoyed Tatania Maslany in Orphan Black; it's doubtful we'll watch this.

Science Eliminates Gypsy Moth

Gypsy Moth
That was simple, just rename it, Etymological Society of America, 'Spongy Moth' Adopted as New Common Name for Lymantria dispar

Annapolis, MD; March 2, 2022—"Spongy moth" has been formally adopted as the new common name for the moth species Lymantria dispar by the Entomological Society of America.

The ESA Governing Board voted unanimously last week to approve the addition of "spongy moth" to ESA's Common Names of Insects and Related Organisms List, completing a process started in July 2021 when the previous name, "gypsy moth," was removed due to its use of a derogatory term for the Romani people. The change is the first undertaken by ESA's Better Common Names Project.

The name—derived from the common name used in France and French-speaking Canada, "spongieuse"—refers to the moth's sponge-like egg masses.

"Lymantria dispar is a damaging pest in North American forests, and public awareness is critical in slowing its spread. 'Spongy moth' gives entomologists and foresters a name for this species that reinforces an important feature of the moth's biology and moves away from the out-dated term that was previously used," says ESA President Jessica Ware, Ph.D. "We are grateful to the diverse community of people and organizations who have been involved in this renaming process and have committed to adopting 'spongy moth' as well."

The spongy moth is an invasive pest of North American forests that can defoliate hundreds of tree and shrub species. Native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa, it was introduced in Massachusetts in the 1800s and is now widespread in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada and costs hundreds of millions of dollars each year in damage and prevention and control efforts. A primary way the spongy moth spreads is via these egg masses when transported on firewood, outdoor equipment, and vehicles. Public awareness of the L. dispar egg mass and its sponge-like appearance is important in controlling the pest, as the insect spends most of its life cycle (10 months) in the egg stage.

Through its addition to the ESA Common Names List, "spongy moth" will now be adopted for use in articles published in ESA's scientific journals and in presentations and posters at ESA conferences, as well as in ESA's website, social media, and public policy documents.

I hope the Romani are happy not having a destructive moth named in their honor.

Rule 5 Saturday - Lili Reinhart Regrets Cheeky Post

It's a little old, but hey, it is what it is, cheesecake and cheesecake keeps well. ‘Riverdale’ actress apologizes for going topless to ‘demand justice’ for Breonna Taylor
Actress Lili Reinhart apologized for a “tone deaf” post she shared on social media in an attempt to “demand justice” for Breonna Taylor.

The “Riverdale” star came under fire this week after posting a topless photo of herself and a caption mentioning her “sideboob” in an apparent effort to bring attention to the case of Taylor, who was fatally shot by Kentucky police in March.
I thought that going topless (at least for women, it's not as useful for men) was the approved progressive way to protest war and injustice. That's changed? Too bad! Has anyone informed Femen? If not, don't!
“Now that my sideboob has gotten your attention, Breonna Taylor’s murderers have not been arrested,” Reinhart wrote in a since-deleted post, according to Us Weekly. “Demand Justice.”

The 23-year-old actress was slammed on social media for trying to get personal attention at the expense of Taylor, the 26-year-old African-American emergency medical worker who was killed when Louisville Metro Police Department officers entered her home with a no-knock search warrant.
I only recently became aware that Riverdale, which I have never watched, is based on the "Archie" comic books, which I never read.

To Be Fair, Is There Anything SJWs Don't Hate?

Scott Adams and Kristine Bashar
Haters Devastated to Discover That Pro-Trump Dilbert Creator Has a Hot Girlfriend
Scott Adams’ girlfriend on Wednesday tweeted photos of the happy couple vacationing in Hawaii, and some people were seriously triggered.

Most commenters expressed support or straightforward jealousy of Adams, the 61-year-old creator of Dilbert, for dating a 30-year-old woman who looks good in a bikini. But others seethed with resentment.

Such outrage is nothing new for Adams. The cartoon mogul and author has been the target of liberal ire since he in 2015 made the then-implausible prediction that Donald Trump would be the next U.S. president.
Implausible, but not outrageous. Nate Silverman predicted he had a 28% chance of winning on election day, but considerably lower in weeks previous.
To make matters worse for the left, after Trump won, Adams wrote a book – 2017’s “Win Bigly” – explaining how he managed to be so right. Basically, he identified Trump as a fellow master of persuasion, and said that the candidate’s skills would make him irresistible to American voters.

He has since continued to boost Trump in the press and on social media.

It’s no wonder, then, that the sight of Adams with Kristina Basham was simply too much for a number of his critics to take.
After making my way through a few of Scott's videocasts and podcasts, I would not say he's such a master persuader, but he is amusing, and occasionally insightful.
One Twitter user made the unlikely suggestion that Basham, whom Adams has been quietly dating since 2016, doesn’t know his views on Trump.

Just wait til she finds out that you think Trump is a master wizard.
. . .
Adams indeed has an estimated net worth of $75 million. But Basham is more than just a pretty face herself. In addition to a modeling career, she is a multi-instrumentalist musician said to be worth some $3 million.

In other words, they can both afford to ignore the “haters and losers,” as Trump would put it.
Amen. More on Kristina Basham here.

Is There Nothing SJW Scientists Can't Wreck?

At first glance, Miles Traer seems like any other scientist at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. He wears an oversize identification badge on a lanyard around his neck and can discuss at length the role of water in planetary landscape transformation.

But this Stanford University geologist has an alter ego. Like a real-life Captain Planet (minus the blue skin, plus a deep knowledge of data science), he beats back the forces of environmental destruction and holds the super-powerful to account.

Traer and two colleagues have calculated the carbon footprint for nine heroes from the comic book canon — and realized that Earth might be better off if they stopped trying to save it.
Barbara Gordon

The results are enough to make several people wince as they walk past Traer's presentation in AGU's cavernous poster hall. According to Traer's research, most superheroes would use up hundreds of times more fossil fuels than the average American.

Barbara Gordon, the computer wizard also known as Oracle, is by far the worst offender: Even if her servers ran on a combination of clean energy sources — nuclear, hydroelectric, solar, wind and geothermal — running them would still release more than 1.3 billion pounds of carbon dioxide per year.

Ah yes, the poster hall at AGU. Been there, done that. If you're lucky, they serve free beer.
But Gordon's DC Comics associates are hardly better. To run at the speed of light, the Flash would need to consume 59,863,610,416 calories per second — the rough equivalent of a 12-foot tall hamburger every week. That adds up to nearly 90 million pounds of carbon dioxide per year. Meanwhile, flying alone would require Batman to burn the fossil fuel equivalent of 344 plane rides from New York to San Francisco.

“Plus Batman drives around a car that literally shoots fire out the back,” Traer says. “That has to be terrible for the environment.”

Sim Jones, a meteorologist for Cherokee Nation Strategic Programs who has wandered over from the atmospheric science section of the poster hall, nods his agreement: “And the Batmobile is definitely not a hybrid.”

The superhero presentation is one of a series; further down the row of poster presentations, paleontologist Ryan Haupt (who also worked on Traer's project) is pointing out inaccuracies in “Jurassic Park” — for one thing, the movie is populated mostly with dinosaurs from the late Cretaceous, the period after the Jurassic ended 145 million years ago. Meanwhile, glacier expert Martin Truffer is examining the dubious physics of a “Game of Thrones"-style wall of ice.
Not to mention dragons, raising people from the dead and ice zombies.
“If I calculate my own carbon footprint, that's a bummer,” Traer says. “But if I calculate it for Batman, things get interesting.”

To further make his point, Traer considers how his heroes might lessen their impact on the environment. By going vegetarian, the Flash could reduce his emissions from 90 million pounds of carbon dioxide to just 3 million. If Bruce Wayne stopped spending money on Batman gear, he could pay for carbon offsets for the entire population of downtown Chicago.

The implied message: If a masked vigilante with too much money and a shortage of good judgment can redeem himself, you can, too.
I wonder how many lbs of CO2 were produced by the jet that brought Traer from San Francisco to New Orleans for the AGU meeting and back? I'm sure he could save a lot of CO2 by walking.
