A very nice St. Patrick's Day on the beach. It's about 60 F, not too windy, with partially cloudy skies.
We hit the beach somewhere before low tide, and struggled a bit to get past the narrow spots.
We had lots of good gravel and shell hash, and found 16 shark's teeth each. My best was this upper Cow Shark tooth, a clear candidate for the kitchen window sill hall of fame.
On the other hand, this is different. To first appearances it's a split crocodile tooth, with lots of root. Most croc teeth are sheds, but rarely, a croc tooth is found with the root intact, from a dead croc. That would make it pretty rare.
On the other hand, one person suggested it's a broken
Squalodon tooth, which might be even rarer. Another suggest
Peccary tusk. Either one would be pretty cool.
A pic from yesterday, when there were oodles of
Lady Bugs and similar beetles out on the beach. It seems to happen every year about this time.
