Shade helped a little.
A puzzler. If it was the Potomac, it might be an Odotus, Megalodon's ancestor, but here? I am asking the pros.
Update, the pros say Cretalamna appendiculata, the extinct Mackerel Shark from the Cretaceous era, which is not the age of our sediments (Miocene). They claim it was either planted, or "reworked", from eroded sediments mixed in the newer sediments. I doubt the planted story, given where it was found, and that it has clay in some crevices.
A very rare tooth for the location.
