Oregon, My Oregon

Did you know there is a female Ninja Turtle?
From the Victory Girls, Mentally Ill Turtle Person Appointed To Mental Health Advisory Board

We thought we had turned the corner on crazy with the election and inauguration of President Donald Trump. We thought that Gender Ideology was O-V-E-R. We were ever so wrong. The state of Oregon which, apparently, has a breeding program for crazy has doubled down. An entity named JD Holt, who uses the pronouns “they/them/terrapin” has been appointed to an Oregon Mental Health Advisory Board.

In the past, humans with mental illnesses have been treated abominably, true fact. But closing the facilities and releasing the patients to the streets has not made anyone’s mental health better or the world safer. JD Holt, who also goes by JD Terrapin, is proof of that. It’s important to have people who have had mental health challenges on advisory boards, but not people in the midst of a delusion.

How did the mentally ill turtle person get appointed to the board? The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has a panel to advise on the best practices. From Fox News:
JD Holt, who also goes by “JD Terrapin” on Facebook, is one of roughly two dozen “consumers” on the OHA’s Consumer Advisory Council (OCAC). The council, established by administrative statute, is appointed by OHA Director Dr. Sejal Hathi, who was appointed by Gov. Tina Kotek, a Democrat.

The purpose of the OCAC is to advise Hathi on the state’s provision of mental health services, including through investigations and reviews of current practices.
This video is a subcommittee of OCAC, the Trauma Informed Systems Subcommittee. The meeting must start five minutes late in order to not stress out people who might be four minutes late. JD Holt is the second person to speak. You don’t have to watch the whole thing unless you are a masochist, speaking of mental wellness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQx3P1ngpQs&t=151s
Yup, she sure did list her pronouns as they, them and turtle. Notice how proud they seem of their issues. A whole “buffet table”. People shouldn’t be embarrassed. On the other hand, mental issues shouldn’t be a badge of honor.

From Fox again:
“Hello everybody, it’s JD. I use they, them and turtle for my pronouns. I’m in the Springfield-Eugene area and I get to be part of the council,” Holt said during a Dec. 20 virtual OCAC meeting. Gender Wiki, a website that documents the list of non-binary genders, describes “turtlegender,” sometimes called “tortoisegender,” as “a xenogender identity in which one feels a gendered connection to turtles.”

“One may feel their gender is replaced by a ‘turtle,’ or their gender is best described with the use of turtles,” the site reads.
From the Springfield-Eugene area? That figures. Well, she should know a lot about mental illness, from the inside.

Get the New GE Transparent Mouse!

WaPoo, Scientists use food dye found in Doritos to make see-through mice"Food dye transformed the skin of mice into a living window revealing blood vessels, muscle fibers and gut contractions, according to a new study."

Scientists have discovered a surprisingly simple way to potentially peer inside the body, using a common yellow food dye found in Doritos to create see-through mice.

In a series of experiments that could have been plucked from the pages of science fiction, researchers at Stanford University massaged a solution containing tartrazine, the chemical found in the food dye known as “yellow No. 5,” onto the stomachs, scalps and hind legs of mice. About five minutes later, the opaque skin of the mice transformed temporarily into a living window, revealing branching blood vessels, muscle fibers and contractions of the gut, they reported Thursday in the journal Science.

These results may sound like magic, but they are grounded in the basic science of optics — and are a major step forward in the long quest to see what’s beneath the surface of bodies without using a scalpel.

“You could see through the mouse. I’ve been working in optics for 30 years, and I thought that result was jaw-dropping,” said Adam Wax, a program officer who specializes in biophotonics at the National Science Foundation, one of the funders of the research.

I assume you have to give them a good close shave for this to work.

The technique may help scientists answer long-standing questions in biology — for example, allowing researchers to observe a mouse’s brain activity, including in the deepest parts of the brain. It could be used to diagnose deep-seated tumors without surgery, help locate a vein for a blood draw or make cosmetic procedures like tattoo removal more precise, said Guosong Hong, a materials scientist at Stanford and one of the study’s leaders.

“It’s not like Harry Potter. … We’re not making an actual invisibility cloak,” said Christopher Rowlands, a biophotonics researcher at Imperial College London who was not involved in the study but plans to try the technique in his lab. Even if this feat falls short of some of the most fantastical notions of invisibility, Rowlands said the new work was “a big deal,” allowing researchers to look 10 times deeper into living tissue with a simple topical application of a common food dye.

Demi Putting the "Q" in QAnon

As well as LGBTQ. At Da Mail, Demi Lovato comes under fire for partnering with 'hub for Qanon' conspiracy website Gaia

Demi Lovato has inked an endorsement deal with the streaming site Gaia, which has been linked to a number of conspiracy theories regarding vaccinations, aliens, and reptile overlords.

The 29-year-old singer last week took to Instagram to announce the partnership to more than 118 million followers, posing with a phone showcasing the app.

'Thrilled to be a @wearegaia ambassador,' Lovato said. 'Understanding the world around us (the known and the unknown) is so exciting to me! Check out my stories to learn more!'

The musical artist, who uses the pronouns they/them, has a page on the website - which has a monthly $11.99 membership fee - in which an episode about an 'ancient space program' is explored.
. . .
A Daily Dot report last December described Gaia as a 'mainstream yoga site' that 'is now a hub for QAnon influencers' after a number of QAnon-associated personalities began appearing on the site after being banished from other platforms.

Among the musical artist's 'handpicked favorite' programs are an anthology promoting the idea that Atlantis was authentic and that people are existing in the wake of a war between giants and 'reptilians,' according to The Daily Beast.

Well, now I've actually heard of someone in QAnon.

Another Great Moment in Climate Hypocrisy

Miley Cyrus gave a dire warning to fans on Friday when she closed out a concert with an expletive-laden rant to fans about the importance of taking action against climate change.

iHeart Radio reports that as the singer finished her performance at the 2019 Tinderbox Festival in Odense, Denmark, she launched into a rant criticizing the U.S. for not doing enough to protect LGBT people. After dismissing how she “might offend some people by calling my country sh*tty,” she began calling for her audience to get politically active.
But what if they don't approve of your politics?

“The youth, this generation, we are the last f*cking hope on this dying f*cking planet,” Cyrus proclaimed. “I don’t like there’s more f*cking trash in the water than living f*cking animals that deserve to be there, that have nowhere else to go.”

Cyrus concluded with “and by the f*cking way, we don’t have anywhere to f*cking go, either! There’s no planet B, so don’t f*ck it up!”

I wasn't able to find any information on her recent tour or her upcoming one, but her Wonder World Tour in 2009 required
124 traveling workers, 19 truckloads of equipment, and 15 buses. The stage was quite different from that of the Best of Both Worlds Tour. It consisted of a rectangular main stage, which featured staircases that elevated the center of the stage, and a narrow runway, which connected the main stage to a B-stage that ran the length of the main stage

Regarding the stage, Cyrus noted that it was "something not many people get to have. I'm able to move around to each side so there's no one person who feels like they don't have the best seat. Every seat is the best seat." Six LED multi-screen video units were located throughout the stage; the three largest were placed as the upstage wall, while the other three were hung by rigs above the stage. The center unit consisted of three screens that faced outward; two others were hung right and left to the center unit, both were double faced toward the center of the venue at a 45° angle, while the backside faced the upper-seat audience. The structure of the video panels was designed by Sims to ensure that all seats within the 270° angle at each venue received an equal view of the video screens.
No carbon footprint there!

Now, I don't really mind her employing a slew of wanna be musician, as well as truck drivers, fossil fuel producers, and electrical workers, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let her make me feel guilty about my carbon footprint.

Besides, if global warming gets too bad, Miley already has the ideal outfit (NSFW link).

Sweet!

Artist slathers models in honey
Portrait photographer Blake Little covered models in honey for his series entitled "Preservation." Caught in movement, but trapped in the viscose honey, the models in "Preservation" begin to look like sculptures in motion.

The idea was born when he used a little honey as a prop in a more traditional photo shoot. Little immediately noticed how a hand drenched in honey looked like it had been preserved in amber.

One for the ladies.

LA Cops Finally Arrest Zorro

That only took about 200 years.  Mass evacuation at LAX caused by ZORRO! Actor on way home from audition dressed as masked hero with plastic sword is arrested amid reports of an 'active shooter' grounding flights
An actor returning from an audition dressed as masked hero Zorro, complete with plastic sword, shut down LAX airport and sparked fear of an active shooter situation on Sunday night.

The unidentified, middle-aged black man dressed in an all black satin costume with gloves, hat and large belt was apprehended on a bench as he waited 'for a ride home'.

Police were initially responding to claims that a man had opened fire near a baggage reclaim, and set about evacuating thousands of passengers and grounding flights.

After a thorough search and the eventual arrest of the costumed man outside a terminal, LAPD admitted the entire incident was a false alarm.

'Report of shooting at LAX proven to be loud noises only no shots fired no injuries investigation continues to locate source', LAPD posted on Twitter.

More Naked News

Time for another edition of Naked News: All the news that's fit to bear:

Artist Milo Moire arrested in Paris for taking naked selfies with passers-by in front of the Eiffel Tower
A Swiss artist has been arrested in Paris after she stripped down to her shoes and invited people to take selfies with her in front of the Eiffel Tower while she was completely naked.

Artist Milo Moire’s ‘Naked Selfie’ performance in the Trocadero in front of the Eiffel Tower was shut down on Sunday when police arrested her on the grounds that it is an offence for a person to display their genitals in public.
She was also featured mentioned here a a while back when she did a piece of performance art where she walked city streets and took a subway wearing only a shoes, a purse, and painted on labels for clothes. Apparently her 15 minutes of fame were in danger of expiring.
The artist was told to get dressed before she was taken to a police station, read her rights, fingerprinted photographed, according to her manager Peter Palm. She then spent the night in a police cell, Le Matin reports.
. . .
According to Le Matin, Moire is expected to appear before a judge today. The newspaper reports that under French criminal law, the exhibition of genitals in a public place is punishable by up to a year in prison and a €15,000 fine.
If they send her to the Bastille for a year, do you think she will wear clothes?

Actress Dita de Leon
Homeowner Fights Back After Neighbors Accuse Visitors of Being 'Buck Naked, People Doing Sex' in Hollywood Hills
"People buck naked, people doing sex out in open. Drinking," resident and father Sanjeeb Kumar told NBC4. "Our own backyard, it's scary. Scared to come out."

"I think it's really hard when a lot of us have children and we are driving by and the kids see strange things and ask, 'Why is that going on there?'" another neighbor said.

A woman who identified herself as the homeowner, an actress named Dita de Leon, told NBC4 on Thursday those accusations are lies and that her security cameras "never captured anything like that."

"They're fabricating lies that people are having sex in public, that's not true," she said. "That's false. Unless they can produce proof that happened, that's false, and they were not my guests."
There are rules about nudity in Hollywood? Who knew? Anyway, I can't imagine any guests of hers acting against community standards, whatever they are.

Maybe next year. . . I wonder how well body paint protects against road rash?

One man's year as a nudist
Sounds better in theory than in practice
. . .But one year was enough. If he's in the Caribbean, on a beautiful deserted beach with his wife, then he might go for a skinny dip. "But do I want to stand around a barbecue with 100 other naked people? Not so much," he says.

One conclusion he has drawn is that nudism is definitely not about sex. On the other hand, that doesn't mean people never take a good look at one another.

"We're humans you can't help it. Sometimes I'd find myself staring at people and thinking, 'That's what that looks like!' You could really marvel at all the surgical scars, like they were wearing their medical history on their bodies.

"There's nothing more fun than seeing an 80-year-old lady checking out your package."
Well, that's all for now.
