This week's Rule 5 competitor is: 

Rayna Vallandingham (born January 18, 2003) is an American martial artist, actress, and social media influencer. Vallandingham was born to a mother of Indian origin, and a father of Dutch origin.

She began practicing taekwondo at the age of 2, encouraged by her grandfather, who played an instrumental role in her early development. By the age of 8, she won her first American Taekwondo Association world championship, becoming one of the youngest black belts to achieve this feat. Her achievements are not in World Taekwondo official championships and her name is not found in Taekwondo Data or any official WT posts.

Over her career, Vallandingham has earned 13 American Taekwondo Association titles, excelling in both traditional combat and weapons forms such as the bo staff and nunchaku. After winning the XMA Forms world championships, Vallandingham flew to Los Angeles to start her acting career at the age of 10 on Underdog Kids as Leticia Hernandez, directed by six-time taekwondo black belt and actor Phillip Rhee. The movie was released on July 7, 2015. Vallandingham made an appearance in her first music video role in 2018, starring as herself in "Youth" by Shawn Mendes, featuring Khalid, demonstrating her martial arts skills.

In 2024, Vallandingham starred in her first television show on Netflix's martial arts series, Cobra Kai. She plays a supporting antagonist in the final season, portraying Zara Malik, a cocky, high-maintenance, social media influencer, and skilled martial artist, as a co-captain under the dojo Iron Dragons, starring besides Lewis Tan as Sensei Wolf and Patrick Luwis as Axel Kovačević. Malik was introduced during the Sekai Taikai tournament as the defending champions and as an undefeated rival team. In the third part of Season 6's Cobra Kai, Vallandingham took on her role as Zara Malik again, where she took her first defeat in competitive action against Tory Nichols, portrayed by Peyton List, in the Sekai Taikai girls finals.

NYPo, Andre Lima gets bite marks from opponent tattooed

People get tattoos of iconic moments all the time. But Andre Lima’s new tattoo may take the cake.

Lima was fighting Igor Severino at a UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas Saturday night when Severino, who was making his UFC debut, was disqualified in the middle of the fight for biting Lima on the arm. A Nevada State Athletic Commission doctor was called in to examine the mark. When he determined it was, in fact, a bite mark, referee Chris Tognoni waved off the fight.

Lima, though, wanted to remember the fight and the bite differently. On Instagram Saturday night, he posted a screenshot of Dana White’s story, which showed his arm with the bite mark now tattooed permanently, exactly where Lima was bitten.

Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan, a four-time Olympic medalist and four-time individual world champion, was disqualified from this year’s championships in Milan after she refused to shake hands with her Russian opponent Thursday.

The decorated fencer defeated Russian Anna Smirnova, who was competing as a neutral athlete, 15-7, in the women’s individual sabre.

Kharlan, 32, did not shake Smirnova’s hand as is mandated by the International Fencing Federation (FIE), but instead offered her blade, a gesture which replaced the handshake rule during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smirnova, 23, offered her hand, and after a brief standoff, Kharlan walked off to celebrate her victory.

Katie Ledecky is now the solo record-holder for most individual gold medals at the world championships.

The American swimmer won her 16th title Saturday in the women's 800-meter freestyle in Fukuoka, Japan. That surpassed fellow American Michael Phelps' record, which Ledecky tied Tuesday when she won the 1,500-meter women's freestyle on Tuesday.

Ledecky's win also marked her sixth world championship in the event. She led from start to finish and cruised to victory with a time of 8:08.87 — four seconds slower than her 2016 world record — and beat the second-place finisher by 4.44 seconds.

Former ESPN reporter Allison Williams testified in Congress on Thursday about losing her job at the network for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Williams was fired from ESPN in 2021, having cited fertility treatments as the reason she was avoiding the vaccine.

She joined Fox Sports as a college football sideline reporter last year.

Time for another episode. First, Ronda Rousey Suspended Indefinitely From The WWE After She Attacked An Official, at Da Caller.

Ronda Rousey is suspended from the WWE indefinitely after video footage shows her attacking an official Saturday during SummerSlam at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

Video footage shows Rousey, 35, throwing referee Dan Engler to the mats and maintaining her grip on the official moments after she lost the women’s title match to Liv Morgan. An announcer can be heard saying, “Rousey’s going to be fined, or perhaps worse!”

 It's not nice to whack the referees around. 

Often, certain events that transpire in the professional wrestling ring are staged, People noted. Suspensions that occur as a result of such pre-planned events are reportedly designed to give the wrestlers a break from competing.

The WWE issued a statement in response to the incident, stating they suspended Rousey from all upcoming events, the outlet reported. There is no word on whether or not she will return to the WWE.

Boniadi appeared at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of July where she talked to the media and specifically praised the writers on the show for giving female characters agency.

Boniadi said, “What I love about the writers on this show is that they have given every woman on the show, every female character, such agency.”'

A slurring Anne Heche joked about drinking vodka with wine chasers as she detailed how she's been having a 'very bad day' in an episode of her podcast that aired just hours before she crashed her Mini Cooper into a house.

In Friday's episode of Better Together, the 53-year-old actress appears to slur her words as she and co-host Heather Duffy tell the audience Refined - a vodka distillery which sponsored one of their shows - provided them with free alcohol.

'We each have a bottle in front of us because our friends sent us a bottle of Refined and I think we even did a bad commercial for them in the beginning of our days

'Dr. Rahm said that we should be drinking vodka instead of wine,' Duffy says, to which Heche adds, 'and we listened, and we are drinking it.' Duffy then reveals they are using wine to chase down the vodka, before Heche reveals: 'Today's been a very unique day.

'I don't know what happened, sometimes days just suck and I don't know if you ever have them [but] some days, those no good, very bad days, and some days days just end up like this. 'Sometimes days just suck and I don't know if you ever have them, but you know some days, Mama says just gonna be like this,' she continues. 'Some days there's those no good, very bad days.

 

It remains unclear if the podcast was recorded on Friday, or if that is just when it aired.

But it came just hours before Heche pranged her Mini Clubman on a block of garages in Los Angeles around 11am Friday, before speeding off at up to 90mph and plowing 30 feet into a home.

She had earlier been pictured with what appeared to be a bottle of vodka in the cupholder of her Mini Cooper, and was filmed racing in her blue Mini Cooper down a Venice Beach road, which residents said she had circled several times that morning.

The video, obtained by TMZ, shows Heche gripping her steering wheel as she sped down the street at around 10.45am. The resident who took the video said it was actually the third time she circled the street, and on the second go-around people started screaming at her to slow down.

Beyonce appears to be bowing to leftist activists by removing the word “spaz” from her newly released song, “Heated.”

In response to Beyonce's song, Hannah Diviney, a self-proclaimed disability activist and Editor in Chief of Missing Perspectives, called Beyonce out in a July 30 tweet, writing, “So @Beyonce used the word 'spaz' in her new song Heated. Feels like a slap in the face to me.”

Beyonce’s team confirmed to Variety that the word would be replaced with the word “blast” and that no harm was intended. Now, the lyrics to the hit song will read “Blastin’ on that a**, blast on that a**.”

 

“The word, not used intentionally in a harmful way, will be replaced,” her team told Variety.

“Spaz” is often found on university language guides, which serve to dissuade college students from using terms that are purportedly problematic or hurtful.

Spaz is short for “spastic,” a medical term that describes muscle spasms. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke defines “spasticity” as a “condition in which there is an abnormal increase in muscle tone or stiffness of muscle” and could impact movement and speech.

The word, however, has recently come under scrutiny by activists who say the word is offensive.

Back in my day 'spaz' was an epithet easily thrown between friends. Pretty soon, the only offensive word left will be conservative.
