Flotsam and Jetsam - Jobs Down but Wages Up?

Capt. Ed at Hat Hair wonders how July Jobs Report Shows Stall -- But Wages Up? "The data tells us that wages are increasing by nearly 4% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month, both well above current inflation rates ... in the middle of a three-month stall in job creation. Is that possible? Perhaps wages lag a bit on job creation, but it's tough to believe that wages would still be going up at all if the economy had all but stopped producing jobs." zerohedge @zerohedge, "Today's jobs report is a consequence of the illegal alien labor purge: foreign-born workers down 4 months in a row, down 1.5 million since April. Native-born workers up 383K in July." JD Vance @JDVance, "I was told 6 months ago that Americans losing jobs and the foreign-born gaining jobs was an irreversible demographic fact. Turns out you just needed a new president and a new immigration policy." Quote Geiger Capital @Geiger_Capital, "Holy. Shit. I thought this was a typo… In the last 4 months, native-born Americans have gained 1.8 MILLION jobs." Sundance at CTH, President Trump Fires Commissioner of Labor Statistics, “In my opinion, today’s Jobs Numbers were RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad — Just like when they had three great days around the 2024 Presidential Election, and then, those numbers were “taken away” on November 15, 2024, right after the Election, when the Jobs Numbers were massively revised DOWNWARD, making a correction of over 818,000 Jobs — A TOTAL SCAM. Jerome “Too Late” Powell is no better! But, the good news is, our Country is doing GREAT!” There has been something wrong with BLS for quite some time. If it wasn't political, it was just being an incompetent chief.

Saying 'Trump Always Chickens Out on tariffs'" Trump: "You call that chickening out? Because we have $14 trillion now invested, committed to investing, when Biden didn't have practically anything." "You mean because I reduced China from 145% that I said down to 100%, and then down to another, and I said you have to open up your whole country, and because I gave the EU a 50% tax tariff and they called up and they said, please, let's meet right now?" Flotsam and Jetsam - Debt Deal Published

From Breitbart, Congress Releases Bill Text of Debt Deal. "House lawmakers will have three days to review the 99-page bill, called the Fiscal Responsibility Act, before they are set to vote for it as soon as Wednesday. The bill can be viewed here." Only 99 pages (double spaced with wide margins I assume? I'm impressed by their brevity. John Bresnahan@bresreports "New: A preliminary CBO estimate found that the Fiscal Response Act - the debt-limit package set to be voted on by Congress this week - could cut spending by $2.1T if proposed budget caps are left in place for full 6 years, per GOP sources."  As WaPoo notes, now McCarthy, Biden race to woo lawmakers to pass debt ceiling package. It seems to me from each parties perspective, the idea is to see how many defectors they can have, to help force the other side to contribute to the vote. Bipartisan in a negative sense. Yahoo! cites McCarthy: Student loan payment pause ‘gone’ under debt ceiling deal. At Based Politics, Fiscal conservatives blast debt ceiling ‘sell out’ 'Fake conservatives agree to fake spending cuts' according to Rand Paul. Flotsam and Jetsam - DeSantis Still In

Matt Vespa at Town Hall, The Trump Classified Document Circus Is About to Get a New Shot of Life. "Okay, I’m sorry, they might have moved documents from one room to another in preparation for the agents’ arrival? Were these files destroyed? Of course, the article doesn’t delve into that, only that someone might have moved some boxes on the property, and there were dress rehearsals on how to move sensitive materials, which doesn’t sound all that unorthodox. It’s better than Joe Biden and his crew neglecting protocol and carelessly leaving state secrets at multiple locations."

So it’s a neat trick Politico is trying to perform here. The MSM has gone from claiming that the gas stove ban:
  • Is just a figment of paranoid Republican imaginations.
  • Is maybe a good idea, ackshully.
  • Is needed because gas stoves are literally killing children.
  • Is still just a figment of paranoid Republican imaginations because, pinky swear, we’re just trying to make gas stoves safer.
Left unsaid is that the new and improved gas stoves will be improved so much that the only people who will still have them are the rich and celebrity chefs with special carve-outs from the law.

At Am Great, Matt Boose on illegal immigration, Send Them Back. "We are witnessing the most malicious voter registration campaign in human history." Am Think's Jay Valentine thinks he knows why Why Kari Lake Couldn't Close the Deal

Kari lost because she is naturally gifted and could upend established order. The leftists pulled out all the stops — just like 2020 and, soon, 2024.

Her team's outstanding testimony in several court cases showed that elected officials changed printer settings, mostly in Republican areas, so printers would not process a ballot.

Officials ran signatures through a nonexistent verification process, counting several hundred thousand ballots that were clearly sketchy.

Our team did the expert witness report on Kari Lake election data showing elected officials jacked with voter rolls days before the election — as in 22,000 new voters and 107,000 changes to the rolls, and thousands of address changes. We suspect that those voter roll manipulations were not to help Kari.

This is the reality of important elections in America today.
