From fishin.' Headed out of Solomons at about 0630 today under slightly
cloudy skies, with no wind and 26 F. It was just starting to lighten up in the south.
We arrived at the infamous Location X a few minutes before sunrise, and
immediately found fish on the finder. I hooked this one and fought a protracted
battle to bring it to the boat hoping it would beat my previous best of 48 inches (many years ago).
But, alas, it was only a side hooked 40 inch.
A few minutes later, I hooked what felt like an even bigger one, which turned out to be a 44 inch inch fish hooked under the pectoral fin.
Tom with another big one.
Tom caught the oddity of the day, this 26 inch
Speckled Trout (aka Speck). We don't really know where Specks go in winter, but some small number of them go and hang around Location X. We heard one other boat caught one as well.
