Random Celebrity News

For some values of "random", "celebrity" and "news."

At NYPo, ‘Caddyshack’ and ‘Tron’ star Cindy Morgan dead at 69

Actress Cindy Morgan, who gained fame in the 1980s for her legendary blond bombshell role in the cult classic film “Caddyshack,” has died at the age of 69, officials said.

Morgan was best known for turning heads as golf club floozy Lacey Underall in the iconic 1980 comedy hit alongside legends Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase.

She also starred in the 80’s sci-fi flick “Tron.”

A representative for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox News on Saturday that the actress died due to natural causes a “few days ago.”

Morgan’s roommate reportedly called police to their Lake Worth Beach home on Dec. 30, 2023, when she returned from a holiday trip, according to TMZ.

She knocked on the door, got no response and told police she smelled a strong odor coming from inside. Police found Morgan dead in her room with no foul play suspected, TMZ reported.

Ugh.

No celebrity news post would be complete without Taylor Swift. NYT decides she must be gay. John Sexton at Hat Hair reads it so you don't have to,  NY Times Opinion: Taylor Swift is Definitely Gay

Not to be outdone, the NY Times published an opinion piece Thursday arguing at great length that Taylor Swift is gay. To be clear, Swift has said that she’s not gay and has had a string of boyfriends (including the current one that everyone knows about). And yet, the author of this opinion piece, who is not a complete rando but an editor for the opinion section, is certain that Swift is secretly a lesbian.

It’s honestly one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen in a newspaper. There’s a very “Who really killed Kennedy?” vibe to the whole thing which is only made stronger by the fact that it goes on and on for thousands of words.

In 2019, she was set to release a new album, “Lover,” the first since she left Big Machine Records, her old Nashville-based label, which she has since said limited her creative freedom. The aesthetic of what would be known as the “Lover Era” emerged as rainbows, butterflies and pastel shades of blue, purple and pink, colors that subtly evoke the bisexual pride flag.

On April 26, Lesbian Visibility Day, Ms. Swift released the album’s lead single, “ME!,” in which she sings about self-love and self-acceptance. She co-directed a campy music video to accompany it, which she would later describe as depicting “everything that makes me, me.” It features Ms. Swift dancing at a pride parade, dripping in rainbow paint and turning down a man’s marriage proposal in exchange for a … pussy cat.
. . .
The first time I viewed “Lover” through the prism of queerness, I felt delirious, almost insane. I kept wondering whether what I was perceiving in her work was truly there or if it was merely a mirage, born of earnest projection.

Funny, gays never claim Hitler must have been gay.  At WFMZ 69 TV, 'No consent at 14': French actor fuels #MeToo movement

A French actor has accused a director 25 years her senior of manipulating her into a relationship as a teenager, contributing to criticism that the arts have provided cover for abuse. Judith Godreche, 51, said this weekend on Instagram that director Benoit Jacquot took advantage of her as a vulnerable underage actor. Jacquot, 76, did not respond to a request for comment.

Godreche has said she met Jacquot when she was 14 and remained "in his grip" for six years, starring in two films he directed, "Les Mendiants" ("The beggars") in 1988 and "La Desenchantee" ("The disenchanted") in 1990. She decided to speak out after discovering him boasting about their relationship being a "transgression", and cinema providing a "cover" for it, in a 2011 documentary.

"I threw up," Godreche told the TMC television channel on Monday evening, seeing him enjoy such "impunity". "Consent does not exist when you're 14," she said.

Selena Gomez
Also at NYPo,  She’s so good: Selena Gomez to play ‘70s rock icon Linda Ronstadt in biopic

Selena Gomez is entering her classic-rock era. The former Disney Channel darling turned pop diva is set to play Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Linda Ronstadt— best known for her 1975 No. 1 hit “You’re No Good” — in an upcoming biopic. And the 77-year-old icon — who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013— has signed off on the casting herself.

“The long-rumored Linda Ronstadt biopic is now up-and-running. Selena Gomez is attached to play Linda,” according to an announcement on the website of Great Eastern Music, a publisher founded by Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan.

Linda Ronstadt

“The two recently spent a few hours at Linda’s home discussing the project and getting to know each other,” he added.

The film will be produced by James Keach, who also produced the 2019 Ronstadt documentary “The Sound of My Voice” and the acclaimed 2005 Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line.”

No doubt — there is a clear resemblance between the two singers, who are both of Mexican descent.

“I always used to get told that I look like her,” Gomez, 31, said during a 2015 appearance on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.” “And I started listening to her music because of that.”
