A while ago Pete told me he wanted to borrow my slip at Flag Harbor for the winter season, I told him fine, but I would take it out in trade. Yesterday, he moved his boat in, and this morning he texted to ask if I wanted to go. It was blowing a gale, almost literally (20 with gusts to 35) but with enough west to get a little cover. We went.
It was tough, but on the lee side of the outflow, he spotted some fish on the sonar, and:
You can see the "rip", power plant outflow in the back ground. We caught a few of these this size, no giants. We also took a big wave over the side and soaked my jeans on one side. The wind kept rising, and the area we could fish got smaller, so having proved that fish were there, and an amateur (albeit, an experienced amateur) could catch them, we came home.
