Election 2020: The Reviews are In

The reviews of the Sept. 18 rally at the Capitol in support of the political prisoners still be being kept in jail for their hijinks on Jan. 6 are coming in. Jacob Heilbrun at Spectator World claims The ‘Justice for J6’ rally was a total dud, "The media hyped it as the next potential Capitol riot but Washington has rarely been more peaceful." I can't read the rest because I'm out of free views. Damn you paywall. I'm free, why aren't you! At LI, Leslie Eastman “Justice for J6” Entrapment Rally was a Bust, "Police, media and “fedboi” infiltrators outnumber ‘Justice for J6’ protesters. As expected." It's what I expected. At Da Caller, PHOTOS: Lightly Attended Rally For January 6 Rioters A ‘Huge Success,’ Organizer Says. Of course the organizer would call it a success, but I think any rally that shows off the peaceful conservative activists is successful too. Brian Joondeph at Am Think wonders What If the FBI Threw an Insurrection and Nobody Came?. At News Max complains, Police Overestimated Security Force for Peaceful 'Justice for J6' Rally. Better to overestimate than underestimate. Matt Vespa at Town Hall claims to know The Photo That Sums Up the 'Far-Right' Rally That Terrified DC and Liberal America

If that doesn't make sense, look at yesterday's post. A lot of the items above also glanced upon the obvious Federal infiltration of the the rally, and the apparent "arrest" of a gun toting fed by the Cap Cops. Andrea Widburg at Am Think thinks (no, not yet) While the Rally for January 6 prisoners was a bust, it still mattered a lot
What happened Saturday had barely any sound or fury and it truly signified nothing. At least, it signified nothing insofar as it was meant to gather non-leftists to protest the fact that, almost ten months after January 6, Americans are being held under miserable circumstances without the benefit of a “speedy and public trial,” and without being “informed of the nature and cause of the accusation” against each of them. The Sixth Amendment means nothing in D.C. and the rally didn’t change that.

Julie Kelly at Am Great has been stalwart in recounting the horrors of the bailless detention of people who committed minor infractions (at best) on Jan 6. Joe Biden’s Political Prisoners "BLM rioters, Antifa thugs, and anti-Kavanaugh protesters are off the hook while Trump-supporting, anti-Biden protesters suffer in jail for months, charged with obstruction and other silly crimes."

“The idea that people are languishing unfairly in grim detention facilities, though, fits neatly with a broad narrative that the Biden administration is rounding up and jailing political opponents,” Philip Bump, national correspondent for the Washington Post, wrote on Thursday. “This weekend’s rally is called ‘Justice for J6,’ implying that those still held are being detained unjustly for punitive reasons.”
Breitbart, ‘Subject to the Same Torture’: Family of January 6 Protesters Claim Deplorable D.C. Jail Conditions. I don't think it's any great secret that the Harris/Biden administration, backed by the DOJ and FBI, as well as Democrat friendly judges, are taking the opportunity to punish the Jan. 6 protesters for their beliefs. In the American judicial system, bail is the usual case, until a trial "proves" guilt, pre-trial detention is meant to be the exception, and not the rule, imposed on people who are unlikely to show for trial, and/or likely to reoffend. Sundance at CTH, Let’s Take the FBI at Their Word
The leadership of the FBI have been very clear in saying, the number one threat in the United States is the rise of “Domestic Extremists.” This, they say, is the greatest threat to what they perceive as domestic peace and tranquility. Take them at their word, what does that say about their perspective?

At Da Caller, Judge Rules There’s No Proof Rittenhouse Is Tied To Far Right Groups
During a hearing Friday, Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger asked to argue during the trial that Kyle Rittenhouse had ties to the right-wing group, the Proud Boys. Binger pointed out to the judge that Rittenhouse had been seen at a bar with members of the group’s Wisconsin chapter and that he had traveled to Miami to meet the national president of the group shortly after.

Binger had also asked the judge to allow evidence showing that Kyle Rittenhouse had gotten into a physical altercation with a girl who was fighting his sister in June of 2020.

Rittenhouse’s attorney, Corey Chirafisi, argued conversely that none of what Binger had asked to present was relevant. Chirafisi stated that the shooting couldn’t have been racially motivated as both Rittenhouse and the men he shot were white and that there is no connection between Rittenhouse and the Proud Boys on the night of the shooting.

Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder agreed with Chirafisi and stated that evidence of ties to the Proud Boys and the altercation with the woman would be excluded from the trial.

Debby Saunders at Am Spec speculates about Recall Fails: What’s Next for California? "California voters chose to remain a one-party state." Continued suck. Jay Whig at Am Great, You Win Some, You Newsom, "California voters like the COVID-19 lockdowns, masking, and vax mandates because they think a benevolent power can save them from the inevitability of death." They're also desperately afraid Republicans might take away their "free" goodies. Cited at Haut Hair, NYT remembers the glory days, In Orange County, the recall's defeat echoes years of GOP erosion, while at Am Great, Lloyd Billingsley has less than fond memories, Recalling a Recall, "Here’s what happened when California replaced a Democratic governor with Arnold Schwarzenegger." Ahnold wasn't much of a Republican.

On Gen. Mark "Righteous Strike" Milley, I think it will be while before lets reporters ask him questions. Frank Miniter at Am Think calls him a Deep State Poster Boy, while at Front Page, Bruce Thornton writes of General Milley and the 'Perfumed Princes' of the Pentagon. Predictably, Deep State mouth piece David Ignatius at WaPoo steps up to protect him, in Gen. Milley’s stress test

Milley was determined to prevent this politicization of the military, and the nation owes him a debt of thanks for his vigilance. But Milley’s efforts also took him into dangerous constitutional terrain that no soldier should have to patrol, edging close to violating the sacrosanct principle of civilian control of the military.
By totally politicizing the military. You can read a bigger except at Haut Hair. JB Shurk at Am Think thinks Bush and Milley Have Chosen Obama's False History of America. Not shockingly, Trump Sends Out Scathing Message About ‘Dumbo’ Milley (Da Caller).
“For Lightweight General Mark Milley to have called the Chinese to “bring down the temperature” of my negotiations with them, negotiations that were having a major positive impact on large-scale benefits to the United States, is outrageous. We were not going to make any Military moves—never even thought of it, but we were hitting them so hard in all other ways,” Trump said.

“‘Dumbo’ Milley inserted himself right in the middle of my trade negotiation, and if he did what is reported, he would have had a profound negative effect on those negotiations,” Trump said. “Milley is an idiot with no common sense or ability to negotiate—that’s why he left $85 Billion of the World’s best Military equipment in the hands of the Taliban for no reason whatsoever. That’s also why 13 young Warriors are not with their families tonight.”

That smarts.

Election 2020: They Announced a Riot and Nobody Came

Althouse, What if they gave a riot and nobody came? Well hardly anyone, anyway. The Sept. 18 demonstration in protest of the treatment of the Jan. 6 Capitol incursionists went off yesterday, as more or less planned. About 100 protesters (we don't really have a good estimate because some of the alleged protestors were federal agents (more on that in a moment) were greeted by a larger crowd of heavily armed and armored Cap Cops, reporters and counter demonstrators, all there largely to provoke the right-wing demonstrators into doing something stupid, which they apparently resisted, because we have no news of that. We know the Feds (which agency is not clear) infiltrated the crowd because because the Cap Cops spotted one black clad guy carrying a gun, and attempted to arrest, only to have him produce a badge, at which point his cover was blown, and he was escorted off the field on non-battle. So yeah, it pretty much went down the way I expected it to.

At Ace's KT has some preparatory material in Reason and Science or Alchemy? including this loathsome piece from the DCist, What We Know About The Right-Wing Rally Planned For Sept. 18. In my lifetime, I have seen military officials removed for overstepping their responsibilities. In fact, I’ve seen officers removed for things that bordered on the silly. The allegations against Milley are anything but.

Unauthorized military discussions with a growing adversary about potential action sends a negative signal to an enemy. It conveys confusion, weakness, and calls into question our ability to control our military forces. It also implies that the military, in fact, calls the shots — not the commander in chief. Any undermining of the civilian control of the military is problematic; this was dangerous.

Moreover, this call was made in the aftermath of a contentious election in the midst of a debilitating pandemic caused and perpetuated by the same country on the other end of the phone. In diplomatic relations, what’s not said often carries as much weight as what is. Milley’s alleged call communicated disarray.

Election 2020: Sitting Here in Limbo

Da Hill seems moderately pissed to inform us that the Pennsylvania GOP authorizes subpoenas in election probe. And from Arizona, Sundance at CTH has another Arizona Audit Update, Maricopa County and State Senate Enter Agreement – Wendy Rogers Confirms Audit Report and Hearing for Friday September 24th

An Hawaiian judge from North Carolina? AP, North Carolina judges strike down state’s voter ID law. Legislating from the bench. I assume it will be appealed. From Sophie Mann at JTN, Trump continues to push Georgia's Raffensperger, Kemp to decertify 2020 election results
On Friday, Trump sent a letter to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger that included a report of 43,000 Absentee Ballot Votes counted in DeKalb County that violated the chain of custody rules implemented to ensure fraud is minimized.
Less well noticed fallout from Woodward's book BI, McConnell's final remark to Trump was 'you lost the election' as the defeated president railed at him for not embracing the Big Lie: You can tell what side they're on from the "Big Lie." And from across da pond at Da Mail,  Bill Barr warned Trump that independent voters thought he was 'f**king a*****e' and he needed to 'dial back' outrageous behavior or he'd lose election - then chided him for 'wheeling out clown car of lawyers' to contest results.

Haut Hair cites the LA Times in Schwarzenegger says voters were right to retain Newsom, calls GOP field "disastrous", not like rejecting a governor for a former body builder and shirt-tail Kennedy. At Mediaite, GOP Strategist on Larry Elder’s Recall Strategy: ‘Greatest Self-Own In 20 Years Of California Politics That I’ve Ever Seen’ Thinks accusing the other side of cheating before the election depresses your own turn out, but then doing it after the election is deemed moot.

Word has it that she does fly occasionally into Jackson (which is to Wyoming what the Hamptons are to upstate New York), where she spends her time with friends, benefactors and perhaps a Republican politician or two while sedulously avoiding the rest of the state, 70 percent of which voted for Donald Trump last November.”

Dan McLaughlin at NR asks  Are Mobs Still Bad When Their Target Is Brett Kavanaugh? and Capt/ Ed at Haut Hair wonders about Precedents: Will Biden override Trump on executive-privilege claims on January 6 records? What comes around, goes around, remember Hunter's laptop and Afghanistan.

At some point, every president has to leave office, and usually every president has episodes they’d prefer to keep mostly to themselves and their closest advisers. Setting the precedent that former adversaries will expose them to partisan file-raiding sets up a very dangerous post-presidential environment for any president.

And given the catastrophic and cowardly debacle just executed by Joe Biden in Afghanistan, perhaps this one in particular. Or does Biden relish the idea of having a Republican-controlled congressional committee getting the green light from a Republican president to strip away all of his privilege requests to get to the bottom of how Biden abandoned thousands of Americans to the Taliban?

To paraphrase Breyer, karma will be a real beeyotch under those conditions, and not just for Biden. It might end up burning some of Biden’s advisers who can expect a longer time living with what the betrayal they perpetrated in Afghanistan. Even if Biden can be expected to indulge his desire for revenge against Trump, at least some of his advisers don’t follow Biden’s lead in playing checkers in a 3-D chess world. They know what the risks are if they set this precedent.

The madness over Gen. 'Righteous Strike' Milley's China phone calls (there's no longer any doubt they happened, but what was said is still debatable) has calmed down a bit. Election 2020: Do Not Go!

First, let's start with the little thing. Tomorrow a rally nominally in support of the Jan. 6 political prisoners is planned at in Washington, D.C. Greg Piper at JTN, 'Justice for J6' rally puts spotlight on evidence of political motives behind Jan. 6 prosecutions, "New database shows lenient treatment for George Floyd racial rioters relative to Capitol "Stop the Steal" rioters."" A lot of us think this is a bad idea. Sean Davis at Da Fed cites In Exclusive Interview, Trump Calls Sept. 18 Rally A ‘Setup,’ Says GOP Senate Should Fire ‘Disaster’ McConnell, “On Saturday, that’s a setup,” Trump said, referring to the rally. “If people don’t show up they’ll say, ‘Oh, it’s a lack of spirit.’ And if people do show up they’ll be harassed.”", Ace, echoes that in President Trump: Mitch McConnell Must Be Fired as Leader of the GOP Senate; the Upcoming September 18th Rally is a "Set-Up". Ace's JJ Sefton in The Morning Report - 9/17/21

But, at the top, a little public service announcement about tomorrow's rally in DC. DO NOT GO. From what I understand, it has neither been organized nor sanctioned by any known MAGA organization so it's not only reasonable to assume FBI plants, Antifa/BLM confederates and Capitol Police will be there to set off another little convenient Reichstag Fire but in fact the entire rally itself is one gigantic set-up. And the timing couldn't be more perfect considering the junta in power is facing the wrath of an increasingly enraged citizenry over the destruction of the nation, whether driven by ideology, incompetence or some combination thereof.

All they need is another John Earle Sullivan to dress up in MAGA gear and somehow, from a distance of a thousand yards, give Nancy Pelosi's 18-hour girdle an atomic wedgie that will make Titty Caca soil her Tax the Rich dress on the other side of the Capitol, and voila! Vanilli Milley brings out his Walter Sobchak bowling bag with the go codes and the fun begins. Hell, if another Nick Sandmann merely smiles at a Capitol cop, the B-52s at Burpelson AFB will be scrambled and the primary target will be Covington. That is of course after Lt. Michael Byrd plugs him in the back and adds another notch next to the one for Ashli Babbitt.

If you think they won't do it, as in declare a state of emergency that minimally shuts down this here website and every other real media site critical of the junta and then start arresting people who time and again they have declared as "enemies of the state," which includes the entire Republican Party, think again. They already have done the unthinkable in 2016 and 2020. And those were merely our elections.

From the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 09.16.21, the Weasel Zippers reports Capitol Police Whine To National Guard For Protection From 1/6 Protest. Afraid of their fellow Americans?

And from JTN, New Hampshire joins the movement with N.H. lawmaker running for Congress calls for 2020 election audit, "State Rep. "If successful, the proposal would cut the number of GOP House members from the Empire State in half — from eight to four — because it also eliminates the district now represented by Rep. But the Peacock really is concerned, Democrats warn of 'canary in the coal mine' for Latino voters in California recall, "While California Latinos voted to keep Gov. Gavin Newsom in office, they did so by a smaller margin than Democrats have won by in the past." You can't fool all of them all of the time. At ET Roger Simon warns Abandon Ship! Time for Conservatives to Leave California. Many have.

And for some reason, they're still taking about Liz Cheney and her merry band of GOP impeachers. CNN whines Cheney's pro-Trump opponent runs on undermining 2020 results. At WaEx, Cheney challenger Harriet Hageman: ‘She betrayed me’ and Wyoming and Anthony Gonzalez, House Republican who voted to impeach Trump, will not seek reelection in Ohio. And I guess that mean I have nothing left but Milley Mania, and a lot of it. So apparently, AllahPundit crows Sources tell Politico: Milley got defense secretary's approval before calling Chinese general

The obvious person to ask is Chris Miller, so Politico did. Miller told them that Milley “almost certainly told him he was going to call his Chinese counterpart” but he didn’t recall being briefed on what was said afterward. (Wouldn’t Miller have asked Milley what transpired during a call with China’s top military official two days after the Capitol was attacked?) Miller thinks there may have been a “perfunctory” exchange between him and Milley about coordinating messages that day. But he added that if it’s true that Milley was freelancing diplomatically and promising the Chinese a heads-up if an attack was impending, that would be “completely inappropriate and completely contrary to civilian oversight of the military…”

Election 2020: More Milley Madness and California Fallout

Day two of the JCSC Gen. Milley controversy surrounding his calls to a Chinese general, and the outlines are starting to take shape. There were two calls, one on October 30, apparently sanctioned by the Sec. of Defense in which he assured the Chinese the US was stable and would not launch a strike, and it is also alleged that he told his Chinese counterpart he would warn them in the event that Donald Trump ordered a nuclear strike (not that it ever seemed especially likely). And then another one on Jan. 8 in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol incursion not clearly sanctioned by the SecDef, after a conversation with Nancy Pelosi. After this, it is alleged he made officers in the nuclear chain of command swear a personal oath to him to not use nuclear weapons without his approval. I don't know my military law, but it pretty much sounds like offering the enemy aid and comfort to me. Onto the links.

Election 2020: Milley Madness

The story dominating yesterdays news was a story from Woodward (you know, they guy who got a deathbed confession from a well guarded and comatose former CIA director Bob Casey that he knew about Iran-contra), that, after Jan.6 JCSC General Mark Milley contacted his Chinese peers and told them that if a presumably insane Donald Trump ordered a nuclear strike on China, he would give them a heads up. Lots of reports. Twitchy, ‘If true, this is legit treason’: New book reports that Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley secretly coordinated with Chinese counterpart to undermine Donald Trump John Hinderacker at Power Line, Gen. Milley: A Traitor, Or Not?

If this account is true, Milley’s conduct, while perhaps not rising to the constitutional level of treason, is about the worst of which any military man could be accused. It would certainly require termination, and there likely is a provision of the federal code under which criminal charges could be brought.

Also, "Milley, for his part, took what the authors describe as a deferential approach to Biden on Afghanistan, in contrast to his earlier efforts to constrain Trump." and "So intent was Pence on being Trump’s loyal second-in-command — and potential successor — that he asked confidants if there were ways he could accede to Trump’s demands and avoid certifying..."

XiNN, Democrats cut deal with Manchin to get party behind long-shot voting overhaul bill, Rick Moran at PJ Media, Democrats Continue Their Dog and Pony Show on Voting Rights

A group of Democratic senators led by Joe Manchin has hashed out a “compromise” voting rights bill that moderates hope will attract at least some GOP support.

While the new version of the “For the People Act” has dropped several of the more objectionable elements, it has kept many more, including the ability of Congress to override several state laws dealing with ballot integrity. This is a non-starter for all Republicans in the Senate.

Manchin had urged the inclusion of a national voter ID standard that was eliminated when the final draft of the bill was completed. In short, this “compromise” legislation does nothing for voting integrity and swells federal power to interfere in local election processes and procedures.

WaPoo, Senators condemn protest at Kavanaugh’s home after Texas abortion law allowed to take effect

Senators from both political parties on Tuesday criticized an abortion rights demonstration outside the home of Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh a night prior.

A group of about 50 people gathered at his residence in the D.C. suburbs to protest the Supreme Court’s recent decision not to block a Texas law banning abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy and called for Kavanaugh’s resignation.

Speaking at the start of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) called the protests “another blatant attempt to intimidate the judiciary” and anyone who “disagrees with the radical agenda.”

He was joined in his denunciation by Democratic senators Richard J. Durbin (Ill.) and Patrick Leahy (Vt.), who said those unhappy with the court’s action should express themselves at the ballot box or outside the courthouse.
