Flotsam and Jetsam - Biden Autopens a Book

Not a scintillating day. Capt. Ed at Hat Hair names it Entitlement by a Thousand (Video) Cuts: Biden Inc Announces New Lecture Book. Ace sees Biden Slur and Stumble His Way Through Ad for His Ghostwritten "Memoir". "This drooling imbecile was paid $10 million by the corrupt corporate media for a book that won't make $2 million." Now that Hunter's source of income have dried up. Aidan McLaughlin @aidnmclaughlin, "Incredible to watch this video and remember that Biden and his team fought for him to serve a second term. This is a recorded video, no doubt with multiple takes, and in the finished product he can barely speak." Quote Joe Biden @JoeBiden, "I’ve written a book about my time as President. It’s called PROMISE ME, AMERICA. It’s coming out November 17th and is available for preorder now. " Luvenalis @Luvenalis1, "A tweet Joe didn't write on a book he didn't author about a presidency he didn't attend." Spencer Pratt @spencerpratt, "This guy couldn't even sign his own name. He's not writing books. LMAO Politicians write books to launder money. Nobody wants to read this, but the corrupt NGOs he provided for as President will buy up 100K copies and burn 'em to hold up their end of the bribes."

At CTH, Sundance hosts Acting AG Todd Blanche's Nomination Hearing, DNI Jay Clayton Senate Intelligence Committee Nomination Hearing and President Trump Highlights Importance of Data Centers. Bob Hoge at RedState sees Adam Schiff Tries to Embarrass AG Nominee Todd Blanche, but It Wasn't a Fair Fight. At Twitchy, AG Nominee Todd Blanche Needed No Words to Properly Respond to Insults From America's Dumbest Senator, Mazie Hirono.

Ace is looking forward to tonight, In a National Address Tomorrow Night, Trump Will Reveal a Far More Extensive Foreign Penetration of the 2020 US Elections Than Ever Known; Plus, RussiaGate Was Faked to Protect the Real Country Intervering in Elections: China, on Behalf of Democrats, "From Paul Sperry:..." At his substack Insty sees Trump Seizing the Day "Will Trump invoke the Guarantee Clause to impose election integrity? A prediction." Maybe! "So if President Trump announces that we have uncovered massive electoral fraud — as he almost certainly will — and that he is dispatching huge numbers of federal election watchers to oversee voting and counting in areas where fraud has occurred, he would be acting directly under a power that the Constitution has vested in him. For a state to have a “republican form of government,” it must have meaningful elections, and elections that are rigged are not meaningful. Stopping them from being rigged would be protecting a republican form of government. Congress has passed other election laws, mostly for reasons of combating race discrimination, but those aren’t strictly applicable to these circumstances."

Matt Vespa on Why Sunny Hostin Melted Down About Lindsey Graham's Sister Becoming a US Senator. It's kind of her thing. PJM's Sarah Anderson hears Nikki Haley's Got Something to Say to the 'Ladies' at 'The View'.

At the WSJ, Putin Was Xi’s Role Model. Now He’s the Junior Partner. "Four years of war and economic isolation have reduced the Russian president to a supplicant in a relationship growing more imbalanced." Anton Gerashchenko @Gerashchenko_en, "Russian Novosibirsk. The line to buy fuel is huge. The person filming says he's driving about 60 km/hour, so you can imagine how long the line is. There are reports that fuel is only available at some gas stations in the city." Jack Prandelli @jackprandelli, ""Massive new oil partnerships with Iraq." That is how Trump teased what is co ming out of today's meetings with Iraq's prime minister. Behind the phrase: Chevron negotiating to take over oilfield assets previously run by Russia's Lukoil, HKN Energy targeting 140,000 barrels a day at the Hamrin field, and Halliburton managing the Bin Omar and Sinbad fields in the south. The stated reason: diversify away from Hormuz risk and away from Chinese and Russian dominance in Iraqi energy, with new pipeline routes planned through Turkey to the Mediterranean. This is the American energy leverage thesis playing out in crude and infrastructure now, not just gas."

Capt. Ed at Hat Hair says Escalateo: US Steps Up Pace of Attacks As Iran Threatens Gulf Energy Production. From RCE, Peace or No Peace, the Iran Conflict Has Forever Changed the Strait of Hormuz. From the Babylon Bee, Trump To Secure Strait Of Hormuz By Posting Old Man Who Asks You 3 Questions Before You May Pass. ""Great guy, beautiful guy," Trump told reporters. "He's been doing this a long time, from what I've been told. Asking questions. And you better have the right answers. If you don't, you're toast. I met him. He asked me the questions, and I got all of them right. But not Dan Scavino. He got one wrong and was thrown somewhere. We don't know where. We're looking for him.""

Don Surber is Cheering a less-known military victory, "Venezuela earthquake response shows losing USAID was no big deal."

Breitbart Bus Dig calls it A CPI Report for the Record Books "The June inflation report was even better than it looks. Don’t get us wrong. The headline figure was glorious. The consumer price index fell by 0.4 percent for the month, the biggest decline since the big dips in March and April of 2020, when the economy was reeling from the pandemic shutdown. Prior to that, you have to go all the way back to January of 2015, when the CPI fell 0.7 percent."

The Manhattan Contrarian contends "Red Scare"? Actually The Communist Resurgence In The Democratic Party Is Very Real. Quotulatiousness doubts the people saying “Communism no longer comes for your property.” Hat Hair's Dave Strom has hopes Is the Socialist Moment Already Over?

And another thing the Media made and unmade Graham Platner, "Just as Donald Trump is a poor person’s idea of a rich person, Candidate Platner is a rich person’s idea of a poor person." Steve Soukup at Am Great looks at Graham Platner and the Rationalization of Everything. "The politicization of everything creates, in the ruling class, a belief in the infallible righteousness of their mission, which, in turn, legitimizes any tactics necessary to take and hold power." Kurt Schlichter at TownHall thinks James Talarico Has Got a Secret. "I don’t know what that blasphemous little imp’s secret is, but he’s got one. Don’t be fooled by that creepy smile on his creepy face; there’s something wrong with James Talarico. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I don’t ever want to see his browser history, and I’d sooner have somebody from The Lincoln Project babysit my kid." PJM's Stephen Kruiser swears Gavin Newsom Really Doesn't Want to Be President. "Everything that Newsom pats himself on the back for is the kind of thing that I truly believe ends up being a disqualifying knock on him with Ma and Pa Dem in the Midwest. He doesn't know that because California is the biggest ideological bubble in the nation." Hat Hair's Dave Strom thinks it's Hilarious: Ro Khanna's Stunt Not Enough for Pro-Hamas Crowd. Peter Savodnik @petersavodnik, "I agree with @jpodhoretz that antisemitism is a bigger problem on the left than the right, and I agree that that's surprising. Just as important is why..." PJM's Scott Pinsker lauds the The Political Castration of Chuck Schumer — and the Rise of GOP Superman Brandon Gill. "Schumer is so hated, his Maine endorsement would guarantee defeat — not by the hands of Republicans, but his fellow Democrats!"

Ace is furious at Jack Smith Who Shredded the Constitution to Spy on Republican Congressmen, Then Repeatedly Lied About It Under Oath. "Congressional speech, including phone calls and text messages, are protected against subpoenas by the Speech and Debate Clause. There is a bullshit way around this. The DOJ will sometimes seize these messages anyway but they first go to a "Filter Team" to make sure that nothing in the messages is protected by the Speech and Debate Clause. If a message falls into that category, it's not passed on to prosecutors. But Jack Smith said "YOLO" and just read all the messages he wanted to read, without any Filter Team clearing them first. And of course, 90% of those he illegally, unconstitutionally spied on were Republican congressmen."

Town Hall's Matt Vespa is outraged, Wait, That’s How Many Messages the Secret Service Missed Regarding Trump's Would-be Assassin at Butler? Breaking911 @Breaking911, "A new inspector general report released two years after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, says the Secret Service missed more than 100 radio transmissions warning about the suspected gunman. The attack killed firefighter Corey Comperatore as he shielded his family and wounded two others. Investigators say communication failures and security lapses represented missed opportunities to stop the shooting." IIRC, the SS wasn't listening to anything the locals put out.

Capt. Ed, Stopping the Stops Stop: Trump Reverses DHS Order. From Ace, Trump: There's No Way I'm Stopping ICE Traffic Stops Just Because the Left Has Fully Embraced Violence As Its "Political Speech" "The stops are back on (if they were ever off)." Matt Margolis at PJM likes how Jesse Watters Schools Jessica Tarlov on the Houston ICE Shooting. WBAL TV, FBI affidavit alleges drugs found in van involved in Houston ICE shooting. Which explains why they tried to run/run over the agent.

Was it worth it?
Mike Miller at RedState, Welcome to America, Eh? Canadian Woman Allegedly Slaps Minor in Trump Gear, Ends Up in ICE Custody. Deport her to Nicaragua just for fun. Libs of TikTok @libsoftiktok, "The husband of Kaitlyn Tracey posted a video CRYING after his Canadian wife was arrested for allegedly assaulting a teen girl wearing Trump-themed attire in NJ. He conveniently leaves out why his wife was arrested… If you’re a foreigner and you come here and assault American citizens, you will be deported!" Libs of TikTok @libsoftiktok, "Kaitlyn Tracey's husband has an art poster on his wall featuring small children with the text "1000 Virgins for Satan's Master." What a creep."

Daniel Horowitz @RMConservative, "The end result of social transformation without representation." Quote DR POOL @DRPOOLQ1, "TERRIFYING: It's gotten so bad in Minnesota that police are saying they are SOMALIANS FIRST. He isn't even speaking English."

CIS looks at Sen. Lindsey Graham’s Unique Immigration Legacy. "A journey from amnesty proponent to foe of open borders and ‘birth tourism.’"

Bonchie @bonchieredstate, "Matthew Yglesias apparently has no idea how AI works and where it gets its “views” from." Quote Holden @Holden114 "He cannot be this stupid." Oh, I think he can. But, honestly, I'm shocked Google is that neutral.

VodkaPundit at Insty wants you to SAY IT LOUD AND PROUD: "The West Is a Superior Civilization (And I Don’t Care If That Offends You). “The West has experienced wars, harbored atrocious dictatorships, and served as the birthplace of a great many foolish ideas, including the wokism that ravaged civilization in this century. But what has made this civilization great is its ability to recognize those deviations and try to correct them, or at the very least condemn them." From the College Fix, U. Nebraska internal review finds ‘no evidence’ of DEI — experts say it doesn’t add up. Campus Reform reports Education Department portal reveals $72B in foreign funding to US colleges.

Jenn Pellegrino @JennPellegrino, "I can't believe this is real. The Chancellor of UC San Francisco testified under oath that a "vast majority of pregnancies are in women." Implying some pregnancies occur in men. When asked directly whether a non-biological woman has ever had a baby, he refused to answer. This is the head of one of the top medical schools in the country." Capt. Ed, Gallup: Confidence in Academia Craters. UCSF Chief: Hold My Transgender-Friendly Microbrew. Carlo Carrasco, Trump Administration Trashes Biden-Era LGBTQ Foster Care Rule "Remember a few years ago when the administration of failed US President Joe Biden came up with a foster care rule that sought to require children who identify as LGBTQ be placed with families willing to accept them through gender identity?" Sasha Stone @realsashastone, "Also the temptation to make history will be too great." Quote Chris Gore @ThatChrisGore "Eliot Page will get nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Odyssey. Page plays Sinon, a proxy for Achilles in Hades and the significance of the role begs for awards recognition. #TheOdyssey". 'Eliot' Page used to be Ellen.

Flotsam and Jetsam - A Funny Thing Happened in DC

Streiff at RedState observes Hundreds of Patriot Front Demonstrators Hit DC's July 4 Celebration and Minds Are Blown "Allegedly, Patriot Front is a Texas-based White nationalist group classified as such by the ADL and SPLC. It was created in the run-up to the infamous 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. A teenager named Thomas Ryan Rousseau executed a coup d’etat inside the “Vanguard America” organization by seizing its website and Discord server and declaring himself the Obergruppenführer, or whatever. After the rally, which we now know was organized and subsidized by the “anti-hate” group Southern Poverty Law Center (see SPLC Funneled $270K Cash to Charlottesville Hoax Rally Planner — ‘Manufacturing Racism’ – RedState), Rousseau rebranded the group as the “Patriot Front.” Here at RedState, we have noticed some peculiarities about this organization." RazörFist @RazorFist, "Reminder: Patriot Front were one of many "right-wing" organizations we recrntly learned the Southern Policy Law Center had funded. You guys can ditch the faggy gimp mask and buy a second outfit now." Quote Aaron Parnas @AaronParnas "White nationalists are marching down the streets of Washington, D.C. on America's 250th." John Ocasio-Rodham Nolte @NolteNC, "It’s simple logic… In the same we know the moon landing was real because of it weren’t, the Russians would’ve said so, if these were actual right wingers, the corporate media would have doxxed them by now." Quote Mike Lee @BasedMikeLee, "Patriot Front: Brought to you by leftists who don’t know that patriots don’t wear masks." Seattle Extremist @SeattleIndepen1, "How do you know Patriot Front is fake? If they were legit, the media would be in a feeding frenzy to find out who is funding them, there would be endless efforts to infiltrate with hidden cameras to capture compromising and embarrassing conversations, relentless efforts to dox members. There isn’t. Which means it’s a protected psyop." PoIiMath @politicalmath, "Patriot Front is a funny organization b/c left-wingers are like "these are the racists you support" & the right-wingers I know are like "go ahead and arrest them all"" Quote Adam Cochran (adamscochran.eth) @adamscochran, "1/10 Want to know how they quickly got 400 makes extremists in DC? It's because many of them are Republican staffers." Benny Johnson @bennyjohnson, "This black lady must feel extremely safe surrounded by dozens of federal agents." Quote Aaron Parnas @AaronParnas, "This image is from today. A Black woman sits on the DC metro as masked white nationalists prepare to march on our nation's capital. This is America's 250th anniversary. REUTERS/Cheney Orr."

To be fair, one of them did duck under the turnstyle. I'd really like to know who they really are, and who is paying, besides the SPLC.

Coddled Affluent Professional @feelsdesperate, "Yeah, I don’t know that Mamdani is even worth responding to seriously because DSA rhetoric is just an incoherent pastiche of ideological slop that last had real salience more than 50 years ago. A meta-criticism pointing out that retarded theater kids have commandeered a major political party yet lack the requisite cognitive capacity to form a coherent ideological narrative for what they’re doing is probably closer to the target than responding to his midwit provocations in earnest." Quote Matt Taibbi @mtaibbi, "This Mamdani-style anti-American chic that gets gushing reviews from self-hating upper class neurotics is just a revived late-sixties/early 70s fad that was boring and stupid then, and still is now x.com/bobbyness11/st…" Vicky Taft at PJM features an Explosive Spencer Pratt Video which Dismantles Mamdani and Communism Spencer Pratt @spencerpratt, "The communist always must destroy your history. Flotsam and Jetsam - Happy Birthday President Trump!

It looks like you had a hell of a party for your 80th birthday. Insty, IF THIS DOESN’T LOOK AT LEAST A LITTLE FUN, YOU MIGHT NOT BE AMERICAN: Marc Thiessen @marcthiessen, "I’ve never been to a UFC fight, but I once went to a monster truck/motocross rally in rural Maine and saw a part of America I’d never experienced before. Trump is opening the White House to those Americans and it’s awesome. If you’re offended by that you may be an elitist snob." And PRETTY MUCH -> At Althouse, Deploying the TR precedent to promote fighting at the White House and Those who like to call out Trump for his narcissism got a big disappointment last night as the supposed birthday party was not a birthday party at all. "The event was called UFC Freedom 250, and, true to that name, it turned out to be about the UFC and the United States of America. 3 days before his birthday, Trump had said — quoted at USA Today — "You don't have to wish me happy birthday because I'm not happy about that birthday that I'm having. That's a number that I never thought really too much about. It's not a number I like, but I'm here, nevertheless."" Derek Hunter @derekahunter, "Kennedy fucked every willing chick in the White House and some who weren't. This is no big thing to @DavidBrooks224, who left his first wife for his married assistant. Please, Dave, lecture us on cultural decline." Quote Alex Christy @alexchristy17, "David Brooks reacts to the upcoming UFC fight at the White House, "I first thought of, like, who are the artists John F. Kennedy brought to the White House? It was like W.H. Auden, Robert Frost, Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein. And now we have got cage fighting. Don't anybody say America's in cultural decline." Jonathan Capehart adds "talk about degrading the culture. This is degrading the White House, degrading the people's house. And it's just unconscionable that this has happened." Those dreams crashed to the ground this week when it was revealed that Airbus and Dassault Aviation could not come to an agreement on who would lead the project and who would follow. In 2017, French President Emmanuel Macron declared the plan “a revolution”; last week, he met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and confirmed that the project was not moving forward."

Flotsam and Jetsam - SCOTUS Nixes Racial Gerrymandering

Voting 6-3 along exactly the lines you'd expect, the Supreme Court overturned lower courts who had demanded states set aside certain seats to create safe congressional seats for racial minorities based on the Voting Rights Act. The ruling doesn't forbid gerrymandering on a partisan basis (looking at you Texas, Virginia and California), and puts a large number of seats in red states vulnerable to redistricting favorable to the GOP. As you might imagine, Democrats are throwing a hissy fit. Matt Vespa at TownHall, The Supreme Court Has Ruled on the Voting Rights Act. Matt Margolis at PJM, Supreme Court Drops HUGE Ruling on the Voting Rights Act. "In a 6-3 ruling in Louisiana v. Callais, the majority held that Louisiana's congressional map — redrawn to include a second majority-black district — constitutes an unconstitutional racial gerrymander under the Fifteenth Amendment. The Court stopped short of striking down Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act entirely, but it dramatically narrowed the ways in which states may use race when drawing congressional maps." Capt. Ed at Hat Hair, NEW: SCOTUS Narrows Section 2 of Voting Rights Act, Strikes Down Racial Gerrymander. Benny Johnson @bennyjohnson, "MASSIVE WIN: Supreme Court just ruled 6-3 that drawing Congressional districts solely based on race is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Republicans could flip a dozen Democrats seats in the South alone ahead of the midterms." At Althouse, "The justices, split along ideological lines, ruled that the voting map was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander." I’ve never laughed at the thought of their wives standing there in fear, wondering if their husbands are going to make it home alive. Because that is not comedy. That is sick. You could have joked about Melania being married to Trump. You could have joked about politics. You could have even gone after her accent like liberals usually do. Random Celebrity News

For the usual values of random, celebrity and news. I haven't done one of these in a while, so some of the stories are, shall we say, well aged:

From Ace, DEI Actress: DEI Has Become a Bad Word in Hollywood and We Have to Use Different Words Now to Push Our DEI Grift  Good. Until now, she was just a frequent crossword answer.

Issa Rae says DEI has become a 'bad word' in Hollywood as executives of color 'tiptoe' to keep jobs
'Insecure' actress spoke at TheWrap's Creators x Hollywood Summit about the rollback of DEI initiatives

Actress Issa Rae said Thursday that she believes diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) has become a toxic topic for the entertainment industry.

"I'm seeing it," the "Insecure" actress said while participating in TheWrap's Creators x Hollywood Summit. "Just blatantly. People are scared and just not necessarily investing the same way that they would have before. Even executives who, you know, are of color are also like tiptoeing like, 'Well, I can't co-sign you because I'm going to lose my job.' And that's scary to see and sad to see because it's kind of like a bad word now."
In other words, moneylosing grifter projects had previously been greenlighted due to the DEI lobby's power and now that lobby has lost power and DEI projects aren't getting greenlighted and DEI hustlers aren't getting paid.

At Althouse, "There is supposed to be an esprit de corps between artistic colleagues."

Link to X.  What exactly did Arquette say? I found this paragraph, from 3 days ago, in the London Times, "Rosanna Arquette: ‘I paid a price for saying no to Harvey Weinstein’/The actress shot to fame 40 years ago alongside Madonna — and is back in a film, The Moment, with Charli XCX. She talks marriage, motherhood and surviving Hollywood":
In 1994 Arquette had a minor but memorable role in Pulp Fiction, playing the drug dealer Eric Stoltz’s wife and telling John Travolta why she’d pierced her tongue (“Sex thing. Helps fellatio”). “It’s iconic, a great film on a lot of levels. But personally I am over the use of the N-word — I hate it. I cannot stand that he [Tarantino] has been given a hall pass. It’s not art, it’s just racist and creepy.”
I don't think she's saying the whole film is "not art." She's rejecting the idea that the "n-word" can be used if only it's within what is genuinely art. She's saying it's still "racist and creepy" — even when the work of art was made at a time when the taboo on saying the word wasn't so strong. I note that Tarantino himself avoided any use of it in his last film, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" (2019).

Page 6 has Heather Graham slams ‘awkward’ new reality of Hollywood sex scenes. It's No fun anymore.

Heather Graham shared mixed feelings about Hollywood’s “awkward” new approach to filming sex scenes.

Graham opened up about working with intimacy coordinators in the wake of the #MeToo Movement.

“I think the MeToo movement was amazing [and] I think there is a very good intention behind intimacy coordinators. But it is odd when you come up without having them, and suddenly there’s this random person in the room just staring at you when you’re, like, pretending you have sex,” she told Us Weekly. “It’s kind of awkward.”

“I know that they have a beautiful intention, and they really want to help and protect actors,” Graham continued. “But as the actor, sometimes I’m like, ‘Can you just get all these people out of the room?’”

Another from Page 6, Sydney Sweeney has the last laugh in second American Eagle ad campaign

She’s back.

Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle are back together, with the “Euphoria” star modeling a selection of summer-ready jean shorts in her second campaign for the retailer.

Dubbed “Syd for Short: American Eagle Jean Shorts,” the ads see Sweeney ditching the second half of her name and the lower half of her pants, posing in cutoffs, a baby tee and breezy button-up shirt.

“What brand am I wearing?” the star playfully asks the camera in the accompanying campaign video. “Yeah, that one.”

Russian Beauty Influencer Warns Putin: 'People Will Get Tired of Being Afraid'
Victoria Bonya is a former model an TV star from Russia. She was on the Russian equivalent of Big Brother back in 2006 which is how she first became famous inside Russia. These days she apparently lives in Monaco and travels the globe as a kind of fitness and beauty influencer.

We might as well just get it out of the way. She is quite good looking...
...
The 18-minute Instagram critique was a surprise pivot for Victoria Bonya, a Monaco-based Russian influencer whose videos are better known for their lifestyle tips...

“There is a big, fat wall between you and us, the ordinary people,” Bonya, 46, said in a direct address to Putin earlier this week as she accused top officials of being too afraid to tell him the truth.

She rattled off to her 13 million followers a number of problems that she said were facing Russia — the major curtailing of digital freedoms, mass extermination of livestock in Siberia, deadly flooding in the southern Dagestan region and the oil slick drifting off Russia’s Black Sea coast.

“People will get tired of being afraid,” she said in the video, which has now been viewed more than 26 million times and liked by 1.4 million. “They’re being compressed like a spring, and one day, that spring will just snap.”
