Flotsam and Jetsam - Terrorist Attack on US Military Assets in UK Thwarted, Terrorists Get Bail?

There's something very strange going on in England, where 5 "British citizen" of Muslim extraction were arrested outside of a joint UK/US airbase that serves the mid-east in several vans, after being reported by a local farmer. After the arrest, they were released on bond. Ace, Five Middle Eastern "UK Nationals" Arrested In Plot to Bomb Fairfield, UK Air Force Base Used by B-1 Bombers, "Five Middle Eastern and, for some reason, shirtless men were spotted by farmers acting suspiciously near the Fairfield, UK air force base." Patrick Christys @PatrickChristys, "Major update from counter terror police about RAF Fairford arrests - all UK nationals: Male, 24, Resident of Borough of Camden Male, 24, Borough of Westminster Male, 25, Borough of Westminster Male, 23, Borough of Westminster Male, 24, Borough of Willesden," Ramon Agusta @ramonagusta, "The former Hamas bodyguard also was a "British National". It's meaningless now." Hat Hair's Beege Welborn, RAF Fairford Plot, Day 2: Public Demanding Answers - Officials, Media Channel Norm MacDonald UPDATE. The Telegraph reports RAF base terror suspects released on bail. Sundance at CTH, British Justice System – Five Terrorists Detained at RAF Fairford Base Released on Bail. PJM's Cathy Salgado hears the UK Farmer Who Exposed Terror Plot Near U.S. Operations Speaks Out. Tommy Robinson @TRobinsonNewEra, "The farmer who called 999 over the suspects near RAF Fairford says she is "100% certain" she saw 8-10 men, not just the 5 that were arrested. She says she is surprised the police haven't contacted her to ask what she saw. She also revealed the message she sent to the village WhatsApp group after encountering the men." Darren Grimes @darrengrimes, "The farmer who called in the RAF Fairford incident has spoken. And she's not having Wes Streeting's spin. There were "definitely more than five," she says. Eight to ten. Faces covered. All dressed the same, "almost you'd have thought perhaps it was what they'd been told to wear." Five were arrested. All five are now out on bail. Streeting went on the telly to say she only had a "partial picture." Her reply? Nobody in any official capacity has even been in touch with her. So: a declared major incident. The one witness from that night says more men were there than were ever arrested. Not one official has picked up the phone to her. But the Defence Secretary found time to go on the BBC and mark down her account. Something doesn't add up." A practice run? Were they infiltrated and give dud explosives?

Beege Welborn hears Senate Democrats Seem Determined to Protect Data Centers and Everyone Should Know It. Kacee Allen @KaceeRAllen, "The House just voted 417-3 to stop making families eat the electric bill for giant AI data centers. The Ratepayer Protection Act tells states to consider forcing those 100-megawatt server farms to cover the full extra cost of the new plants and power lines they need, instead of passing it onto households. Both parties piled on because people are tired of watching their rates climb so a computer warehouse can sit next to a suburb. It still has to get through the Senate, and states can refuse the standard." Senate Republicans @SenateGOP, "Senator Schumer says the Ratepayer Protection Act is “a fraud.” Last week, Democrats blocked this bipartisan bill that would shield Americans from higher costs related to data centers. Democrats are standing in the way of lower prices." They prefer having an issue to having a solution. And the results are going to collapse the higher education bubble. They took 194 undergraduates and split them up. One group learned physics in one of Harvard’s best hands-on, active-learning physical classrooms. Group work. Instructor support. The premium university experience. The other group went home and learned the exact same material with an AI tutor. The AI didn't just win. It embarrassed the institution. Students using the AI learned more than twice as much as the students in the elite Harvard classroom. They scored 30% higher on the final assessment. And they did it in less time. Let that sink in..." Look for the teacher and faculty unions to lean even harder into their anti-AI stances. Maryland, My Maryland

From the Bay Journal, Maryland governor opts for new data center standards over moratorium

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) issued an executive order Sept. 23 establishing a state task force that will compel data center developers to stop closed-door dealings and minimize their projects’ adverse impacts on local communities, ecosystems and energy infrastructure.  Moore also promised to roll back state tax incentives for data centers but stopped short of pausing new data center development, much to the dismay of Maryland environmental groups.

His order comes as states across the Chesapeake Bay watershed adopt stricter policies that either pause new data center development, such as New York, or require developers to meet stringent requirements, as established by Virginia and Pennsylvania. It also backtracks on the comments Moore made less than a week before the signing, when he told a reporter with Punchbowl News that he’d approve a statewide data center moratorium if presented with one.

During a press conference after the signing Moore instead took aim at the tax incentives passed by the General Assembly in 2020, saying the policy has contributed to the industry’s heavy influence over state data center regulations. “Before I was elected governor… the data centers were calling the shots,” Moore said. “The data centers and corporations were the ones writing the rules. And today, that ends.”

Under Moore’s policy, the state task force will review data center proposals with over 25 megawatts in peak energy demand and hold them to a variety of standards. Those include requirements that such a facility either generate its own electricity or offset the costs of harnessing power from the public grid, and that developers prioritize hiring Maryland residents .

The task force is also charged with maintaining a public dashboard with concise details on each data center’s parent company, energy demand, water use, and employment numbers. Any developer that refuses to cooperate or follow state standards will be labeled as “not aligned,” according to the order, and miss out on a coordinated review process by state regulators.

A little intrusive, but not as bad as an outright moratorium.

Flotsam and Jetsam - Trump Having Xi for Tea

A day after Trump stomped through the UN, China's President Xi arrived in the US to be met planeside by President Trump. Liberals are up in arms that he would do the courtesy. News Wax, Xi Kicking Off D.C. Visit With Rare Planeside Welcome From Trump.

Long story short - which may surprise some - the Danes lied the most: Trump is pretty much correct in saying that this new deal grants the US control of Greenland. Let's look into what changed compared to the 1951 deal ... So, to sum up:- The US secured a permanent military foothold that even an independent Greenland would inherit whether it likes it or not - The US now has veto power over any non-NATO military presence in Greenland, and over who can invest in its strategic infrastructure and resources (beyond NATO and the EU) - Denmark signed away its say over the principle of new US bases, with only the right to discuss the "implementation details" - Danish authorities no longer set the rules for US military movement across the island - And all of it is now justified by the defense of "the American continent" I don't know in which universe this even remotely "recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the Greenlandic people's right to self-determination," as Danish PM Mette Frederiksen put it (https://stm.dk/e...). Yes, the preamble of the text cynically "reaffirms" Danish sovereignty but, in my book, when you let a foreign country put bases on your soil, move its troops without following your rules and veto who else can come in, in perpetuity, after it spent two years threatening to take you by force, the word for that is anything but "recognized sovereignty""

OilPrice, U.S. In Talks To Take Direct Ownership Of Venezuelan Oil Fields. Northern Barbarian @xnoesbueno, "It’s the Venezuelan dividend. Take out the brutal dictator who turned a prosperous nation that pumped money out of the ground into a wretched impoverished third world hellhole. Welcome Venezuela back. Cut China and Cuba off from a cheap oil source. The other part. No accident this happened months before Iran. The IRGC had a presence in Venezuela. Supplied Venezuela with weapons, patrol craft. You want that in striking range of the southern coast of America?"

Matt Vespa at TownHall, That PA Measles Story Just Took a Wild Turn, At Hair Dave Strom looks at The Lie Buried in the Truth of Measles 'Associated' Deaths. A newborn died of a broken spleen, tested positive for measles. Commissioner Josh Parsons @CommissionerJP, "Correct. This is a point I have been making. The PA Sec of Health says she "thoroughly" reviewed the two cases. At the press conference they emphasized the two individuals were "unvaccinated." The underlying assertion was that this status was by choice. We later learned that one case was the infant who died at birth. The infant obviously had no opportunity to be vaccinated. A thorough review of the case by the PA Secretary of Health would obviously reveal this. Thus, stating it the way they did is an attempt to deceive the public. If there is one attempt to deceive the public in this matter, it is fair to ask if there are other attempts." Quote Madhava Setty @Madhava_Setty, "Replying to @AboutPediatrics @CommissionerJP and @SecKennedy You do realize that if the death was in a newborn calling it an unvaccinated death is ridiculous." Cary Kelly @CaryKelly11, "Blaming measles for a death a coroner said was caused by a lacerated spleen is stupid. Community notes, where are ya?" Quote Geraldo Rivera @GeraldoRivera, "Kids dying because they weren't vaccinated for measles is stupid." Also at Hat Hair, Beege Welborn on The Mystery Measles of Lancaster County", Unless someone coughs up a red, spotty corpse pretty quickly, power-mad Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro is going to have some serious 'splainin' to do." Secretary Kennedy @SecKennedy, "Governor Shapiro's unseemly rush to Lancaster County to convene a national press conference and his giddy delight in announcing two measles deaths was a morose commentary on the contemporary political dialogue. The performance was a replay of the Democrats' COVID playbook: fearmongering, misinformation, finger-pointing, and the weaponization of infectious disease fears for political gain..."
