Palm Sunday

Fort Myers is taking steps to restore its iconic image as the "City of Palms" by planting new palm trees along major boulevards. This initiative comes nearly three years after Hurricane Ian destroyed many of these symbolic trees in 2022.

The city recently planted 70 palm trees along Palm Beach Boulevard and 118 more along McGregor Boulevard. The goal of the project is to plant 143 in total on McGregor Boulevard.

City officials confirmed that the trees being replaced were specifically lost during Hurricane Ian. The project is funded through a grant linked to Ian recovery for McGregor Boulevard, while city beautification funds cover the costs on Palm Beach Boulevard.

Good for them. Too many cities are trying to eliminate palm trees for bogus "climate change" excuses.

    2. Yes, and you see an otherwise lovely woman even scowl into the camera. I sometimes wonder if they even know why they’re having their picture taken.
