Flotsam and Jetsam - The Kamala and Tim Show Revisited

More fallout from the Kamala and Tim comedy 18 minutes on CNN. At the Free Bacon, Kamala Harris Comes Out of Hiding, "Harris's interview left more questions than answers." Dan Flynn at Am Spec, America Waited 39 Days for This? "The Blah-ness of CNN’s Kamala & Tim Show, It was neither helpful nor damaging but blah." From Althouse, Vague, vacuous, and not flustered... 2 looks at that Kamala Harris interview. ""Kamala Harris didn’t hurt herself in her interview this week with CNN’s Dana Bash. She didn’t particularly help herself, either." Writes Bret Stephens in a NYT piece with a meaner headline: "A Vague, Vacuous TV Interview Didn’t Help Kamala Harris,"", "You've had two Democratic candidates who've not been able to give unscripted interviews, which is extraordinary." and "Kamala Harris' Election Odds Slide With Bookmakers After CNN Interview." Spiked explains Why Kween Kamala is still dodging democratic scrutiny, "Kamala Harris’s interview with CNN was dull, lifeless and insipid – just as she wanted." Newt Gingrich@newtgingrich, "After watching the CNN interview of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz it is clear that Walz is the first “emotional support candidate” in history. . ." Insurrection Barbie@DefiyantlyFree "This analysis of Harris interview is pretty spot on. And this is not from a Trump supporter. Kamala’s Kalamity." Vivek Ramaswamy@VivekGRamaswamy, "Kamala’s interview last night was a reminder that we’re not running against a candidate. We’re running against a *system*. They require a candidate they can control, which means having original ideas is a disqualification. That’s exactly why we get Biden, then Kamala, and so on." Flotsam and Jetsam - Jack Smith Files for Protection

A very lax Sunday morning, headed into the Dog Days of summer. Stacy McCain notices Everybody Keeps Indicting Trump, Without Regard for Consequences

"One might notice a historical pattern here, and then — since we’re speaking of ominous auguries — contemplate America’s future once Our Leaders save us from Trump’s alleged threat to “subvert democracy.” But these people seem to have no proper sense of history, no more than they have any sense of irony or self-awareness, which explains the latest entry in John Hoge’s “I’m Not Making This Up, You Know” files: Secretary Antony Blinken@SecBlinken "The United States strongly condemns Russia’s conviction of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny on politically motivated charges. The Kremlin cannot silence the truth. Navalny should be released."

Jack Hellner at Am Think thinks This. Is. Rich. Biden condemns Russia's jailing of opposition leader Navalny. At Althouse, "It’s a sign of how acrid things have got that Biden’s main tactic is simply to put his opponent in prison." ""I don’t like Trump any more than the next person, but hauling him up in a criminal court is Third World stuff. Who cares he said the election was 'stolen'? . . . Writes Camilla Long (in the London Times). I thought that was nicely concise." Sundance at CTH is not shocked when Bill Barr Refuses to Say if He Assisted the Jack Smith Targeting of Donald Trump. The Redoubtable Julie Kelly on TwitterX, Julie Kelly πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ@julie_kelly2 "I know you'll be shocked to hear this. The 2 DOJ lawyers handling the case against Trump for J6 and attempts to "overturn" 2020 election are the same DOJ lawyers who declined to prosecute Andy McCabe for lying under oath--never mind his own role in 2016 election interference." Prosecutorial judgement is for Democrats and Deep Statists. Hat Hair's KT reports Special Counsel Jack Smith seeks emergency protective order against Trump

Trump posted on Truth Social Friday night the following statement: ‘IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU’ That was the entire post. One statement in all caps. Smith entered it into evidence Friday night shortly after Trump posted it. This is an indication that Smith’s team is actively monitoring Trump’s social media posts. They struck gold with what Smith considers a threat to himself, though Trump didn’t name any names.

Smith alleges the post is a threat to potential witnesses while Team Trump claims Smith is attacking political speech used by Trump. Trump faces allegations of trying to intimidate witnesses. Defendants are provided with evidence against them (discovery) but they cannot publicize it.

I think the rules are pretty clear that "threats" have to be somewhat specific as to the person threatened, and what the actual threat is (death, harm, legal trouble, etc). I think Trump's goal is goad Smith in to acts that seem biased. Mission accomplished. At the Victory Girls DOJ Prosecutors Want A Protective Order For Evidence On Trump "The real question is, if their charges are justified under the law, and their evidence is so airtight and solid, then why would they be so concerned if Trump talked about it? Hmmmm?" At the Daily Fetched, Joe Rogan Rages Over Trump Indictments: The “Actions of a Banana Republic.”  Althouse "Joe Rogan could be reversing course on his decision to not have former President Donald Trump on his podcast." ""In years prior, Rogan has been vocal about not wanting to interview Trump and has even admitted to turning down several opportunities to do so. But... [o]n the Thursday edition of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan sat down with political commentator Patrick Bet-David to discuss entrepreneurship and politics. 'When are you having Trump on,' Bet-David asked. 'I don’t know... I don’t know – maybe.'  From Twitchy, Dem Rep says the quiet part out loud about Republicans who support Trump. Tom Elliott@tomselliott, "Rep. @JasmineForUS (D-Texas): Republicans defending Trump "are getting dangerously close, in my opinion, to criminal culpability in and of themselves, as well."" 'Becca Downs at Town Hall, Here's the 'Democrat Dream Scenario' for the Trump Trial Ted Cruz Warns to Be Mindful Of. "they don't want the voters to vote on Biden's record. Instead, they want to use the Department of Justice to steal the election," also speaking once more to news coverage in that "they're trying to steal it by dominating the headlines by bringing the full force of the federal government to bring case after case after case." At the Independent, Trump demands cameras in courtroom for potential election fraud case. "The problem for Mr Lauro is that courtroom photographing and broadcasting are banned in federal court under the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure."

At Red State, 'Manic Contrarian' (I assume that's a pseudonym) asks (and answers) Does Trump's Shutdown Decision Disqualify a Future Presidency? "Trump has disqualified himself from ever being elected president again simply by virtue of that single, solitary decision while in office. And this I believe in the marrow of my bones." I disagree. Trump is not a doctor or a scientist at any level. He had to chose advisors for this purpose, and Fauci and Brix stood out as leaders. Both, with good intentions, suggested a lock-down policies, that probably did, in the beginning, save some lives (remember, many medical institutions were overwhelmed in the beginning), but were carried out far too long, and resulted in untold damage.

Campus Reform predicts The battle over affirmative action is just beginning. "Campus Reform lays out the field of play as universities try to outflank the Court, and conservatives work to rein them in." At the College Fix, Appraiser can sue black professors who accused him of racism, judge rules.

On TwitterX Elon Musk makes an interesting offer, Elon Musk@elonmusk "If you were unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform, we will fund your legal bill. No limit. Please let us know." Wow, but that could create a rather strong disincentive for doing so.

An Alabama public library reversed its decision to cancel a Moms for Liberty book reading event featuring actor Kirk Cameron and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines. It will now allow it to take place on Saturday.

The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library System announced Wednesday that the Madison Public Library could no longer hold the event after the scope of attendees quickly grew from approximately 30 to 300, citing concerns about security and capacity. The fact that Garland and Weiss are trying to obfuscate the issues that Andy points out in this essay shows that the plea deal was a political concoction that now needs some plausible cover story, only they’re snared by the whistleblowers and their contemporaneous records of Weiss’ admission. Just not the cases they cared about most.

Perhaps Judge Doughty will be overturned and the censorship and suppression industry will go on its merry way making the world safe for Democrats. But I suspect that the genie has been let out of the bottle. The Deep state will howl. The forces of freedom will howl louder, and now they have the House and, most likely, the courts on their side." Flotsam and Jetsam - White House Got the White Line Blues

Democrats have reached the "Republicans pounce" stage in the White House cocaine story. Mary Chastain at LI, White House Allies Call Cocaine Story ‘Political Fodder,’ House Republicans Open Investigation. "House Oversight Committee: “This incident has raised additional concerns with the Committee regarding the level of security maintained at the White House.”Atop Da Hill, White House cocaine discovery becomes GOP ‘political fodder’  Jordan Boyd at Da Fed, The White House That Tracked Down Grannies After Capitol Riot Wants You To Believe Cocaine Caper Has Them Stumped. Insty, A NON-DENIAL DENIAL: "‘Incredibly Irresponsible:’ White House Press Secretary Chides Reporter for Asking Whether Cocaine Belonged to Bidens." At Da Wire, KJP Still Won’t Answer Directly Whether That Cocaine Belonged To A Biden Family Member. At Da Mail,There's no hiding now! Secret Service orders DNA and fingerprint analysis of 'dime-sized' cocaine baggie found in the West Wing. Ace, Ex-Border-Control-Chief: The White House Is Filled With Cameras, They Already Know Who Left the Coke. Which Is Why They're Not Telling You Whose Coke It Is. NewsMax notes House Oversight Wants Briefing on White House Cocaine. Capt. Ed at Hat Hair, House Oversight to WH: Don't blow us off on the coke scandal, "As far as the headline goes … I’m here all week, folks." Ace, The Hunter Biden Prosecution Team Was Swapped Out at the Last Moment, Just Before They Agreed to This Corrupt Plea Deal. "It's almost as if there's some kind of sham going on here. The suspicion is that they wanted "cleanskins" to sign off on the plea deal -- "cleanskins" who were not involved in the previous fraudulent investigation, which involved repeatedly shutting down important lines of investigation." At HE, REVEALED: Wife of US Attorney for DC who refused to prosecute Hunter Biden had 'all-access pass' to White House. Hey, maybe it's her coke!
From Da Caller, IRS Whistleblower’s Attorney Slams Washington Post For Not Correcting Hunter Biden Story “The paper knows with 100% certainty that Gary Shapley did not leak for its story but is aiding and abetting the Biden attorneys’ false narrative with its silence,” he tweeted. “It’s fundamentally unfair to Gary Shapley and grossly misleading to the public. Democracy Dies in Darkness, so the paper should let in a little sunlight and correct the record,” At NYPo, Justice Department admits it could delay Hunter Biden plea deal: docs. “A DOJ attorney admitted to us that this sweetheart plea deal date was moveable,” Heritage Foundation Oversight Director Mike Howell told The Post Friday. “This deal shouldn’t move forward in any circumstance, but if Garland and the DOJ try to push it through before they comply with their legal responsibilities to release information to us then they aren’t even trying to hide their weaponization anymore.” Capt. Ed. "They *could*, but I wonder if they *will*. It should be pushed off for more transparency and honesty about the conduct of the DoJ, Weiss, and Garland. But I wonder if the DoJ may be starting to worry about what the judge in the case might do if they try to submit this deal as-is under current circumstances. Judge Maryellen Norelka might delay a ruling herself, or worse yet, refuse to accept it at all. The Heritage Foundation has a FOIA demand for documents relating to the deal, and a court has ruled that the DoJ has to answer it by Monday. Stay tuned — and I’d bet Norelka is staying tuned too." Nick Arama at Red State wants you to watch the video I posted yesterday, WATCH: Missing Whistleblower Gal Luft Drops Bombshell Video on China, Biden Corruption, and Hunter's FBI Mole 'One Eye'. At NewsMax, DOJ: Jack Smith Has Spent Over $9M on Trump Probe. They'd spend $9 Billion of your money if necessary to stop Trump. Politico crows over a plainly political prosecution Disciplinary panel calls for Rudy Giuliani’s disbarment.

At Da Caller, Tucker Says Capitol Police Chief Told Him Jan. 6 Crowd Was ‘Filled’ With Feds, confirming what we suspected. Newsweek, Tucker Carlson Shares Details of Never-Aired Capitol Riot Interview "I never thought that and then I interviewed the chief of the Capitol police, Steven Sund, in an interview that was never aired on Fox by the way. I was fired before it could air... but Steven Sund [who] was totally non-political...I mean this was not some right-wing activist, he was the chief of Capitol police on January 6, and he said, 'Oh yeah, that crowd was filled with federal agents.' Yes, he would know of course because he was in charge of security at the site." Liz Stauffer at Power Line, Chief of Capitol Police to Tucker Carlson: J6 Crowd Was ‘Filled with Federal Agents’
Phil Klein at NRO (cited at Hat Hair) thinks Mike Pence has a great answer about January 6. "I'm sorry ma'am, but that's actually what the Constitution says. No Vice President in American history ever asserted the authority that you have been convinced that I had."

Sam Mangold-Lennett at Da Fed, Here’s How Congress Can End The FBI’s Reign Of Terror. He thinks taking away their intelligence role might do it. I think it needs to be raised to the ground, and the ground salted. Take the honest agents and roll them into the Marshall's service.

Eliot Cohen at the Slantic says Step Aside, Joe Biden, "The president has no business running for office at age 80." Sarah Arnold at Town Hall notes Politico Says What We're All Thinking: What If Biden 'Just Dies One Evening?' At WaEx, Biden celebrates 'Bidenomics' amid slowing job growth. It's working! Sundance at CTH sees Gavin Newsom on the Campaign Trail (For Biden?) Althouse, "As a journalist who has been told for decades that my empathy for the female candidates I often cover is probably overemotional and built too strongly on personal identification..." Also from sundance, Tucker Carlson Discusses President Trump, RFK Jr and American Politics with Russell Brand (a more complete version that the clip above) and The Club Battle – Donald J Trump is Not the Cause of Republican Failure, He is the Result of Their Failure. Hollywood in Toto, Tucker Carlson Hearts Trump, RFK Jr., Slams Jan. 6 Coverage, "Russell Brand interviews former Fox News superstar in first post-firing chat." At Da Wire, Tucker Carlson Says He Made ‘A Huge Mistake’ Getting Involved With Politics In 2022. Capt. Ed notes "It’s okay to miss a few calls, but Tucker’s right — that’s not his bread and butter. He’s much better on ideas, policies, and cultural trends. That also interests his audience more than horse-race stuff." NYPo is incensed when Ron DeSantis ripped by ‘Peaky Blinders’ for using show in ‘Pride’ campaign ad. At Grabien, cited at Hat Hair, Ramaswamy: I won't be Trump's running mate. Bill Otis at Ringside explores The Telling Omissions of the NYT's Bad Argument for Continuing Race-Based Admissions, "There were five words glaringly missing from the Times editorial: “cost,” “Asian,” “teenager,” “standards,” and “endpoint.”" Hat Hair's Dave Strom explains Affirmative action was always based upon a flawed assumption, also, Arizona AG tells U.S. Supreme Court to shove it. Ilya Somin at WaEx sees 'Diversity' house of cards collapses. Capt. Ed, "The use of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” as an excuse for discriminatory conduct is clearly at an end. That doesn’t mean that DEI advocates will simply melt away; they will push those outcomes in other ways. The problem that Somin makes clear is that there are no ways around the fact that DEI is itself discriminatory and therefore subject to the same issues as SFFA v Harvard exposed." From Behind the Black, Pushback: Non-profit legal firm warns 200 law schools they will be sued if they defy the Supreme Court’s decision ending all racial quotas. Joe Klein at Front Page explores Three Landmark Supreme Court Decisions Protecting a Free America
"The guardians of the Constitution take a noble stand." At WaEx, New group targets vulnerable Republicans over Supreme Court student debt ruling. I think Republicans win this fight. Student debt holders already vote heavily Democrat anyway. Republicans have the potential to motivate a much larger group being asked to support the few. Rabbi Fischer at Am Spec notes 303 Creative Protects a Little Kosher Bakery From LGBTQ Tyrants. "Thanks to the Christian heroes who led the fight to the U.S. Supreme Court, a small Orthodox Jewish bakeshop now has a chance to keep baking challahs, bagels, rugelach, and — yes — even rainbow sprinkle cookies."

Da Caller, EXCLUSIVE: Rep. MTG Introduces Legislation That Would Ban Illegal Immigrants From Voting In DC . At Fox, Teens, Democrats continue push to lower voting age to 16, "Nationwide left-wing efforts to let 16-year-olds vote start bearing fruit" even though their brains aren't fully developed until about 25.

It’s a true Fourth of July case by a hero of this nation. Jason Cohen at Da Caller sees Judge’s Injunction On Biden Censorship Operation Is More Far-Reaching Than Initially Reported, but Hannah Cox at Base Politics A federal judge just ruled against the government’s social media censorship campaigns. But there’s one big loophole. I already identified it, "national security." Capt. Ed, "I pointed this out as well. The good news is that the exceptions in the Doughty order relate to functions specific to real law enforcement and counter-intelligence, which locks State, HHS, Census Bureau, and their subsidiary agencies out of the process. That still leaves the DoJ and FBI with the ability to perhaps work around this order, but doing so would put their personnel in real danger of prosecution if a Republican president gets elected and fresh leadership at the DoJ takes contempt orders seriously." James Lynch at Da Caller, Facebook Suppressed Tucker Carlson Video That Did Not Violate Content Policy After White House Demanded It, Judge Says. At Breitbart, CNN’s Mattingly: Biden ‘Regularly’ Sought Censorship on COVID, Tech Companies Mostly Gave in, and That’s ‘Probably What We Should Do.'
At Da Fed Evita Duffy identifies 12 Times The Biden White House Colluded With Big Tech To Throttle Free Speech, According To Missouri v. Biden and Jordan Boyd says Missouri v. Biden Proves Corporate Media Lied About Big Tech’s Censorship Crusade Against Conservatives. Sundance, Biden Administration Appeals Court Ruling That Blocks Govt from Censoring Free Speech on Social Media, of course. Scott Johnson at Power Line says Walk away, Joe. Capt. Ed, "Scott points out that Judge Terry Doughty appears to have anticipated an application for a stay at the Fifth Circuit with his memorandum accompanying the injunction. It lays out in devastating detail the evidence found in discovery about viewpoint suppression and interference in dissent and debate by the executive branch with social-media platforms. One potential outcome, however, might be that the Fifth Circuit finds the injunction too expansive in terms of potential defendants and remands it back to Doughty for a more practical construct."
