Flotsam and Jetsam - The CR Debacle Disimproves - Biden Incompetent on Day 1 - Fani Fired

We have three major stories competing for top billing. First, the ongoing Congressional follies surrounding the continuing resolution required for the government to keep operating. Short answer, not yet. Second, WSJ and NYT admit that Biden was mentally impaired from the time he entered office. Yeah, we really, deep down, knew that. Third, Fani Willis and her entire team of persecutors in the Georgia case against Donald Trump have been disqualified by the appeals court for her hiring of her paramour, Nathan Wade, leaving the case even further out in Limbo, if I can say it that way.

Before Trump.       After Trump.
First, the budget "crisis." As Sundance at CTH reminds us The Insufferable 1,547 Page Continuing Resolution Bill *WAS* a Massive “Omnibus” of Regulatory Effort Before Trump Takes Office. At OTP, Mace: ‘Bunch Of Woke Nonsense’ In Continuing Resolution also, The Scale of Economic Leverage Carried by President Trump into Term-2 is Stunning. From the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 12.19.24 EBL, Presumed Innocent, Bloated Congressional Funding Plan Dead On Arrival, Twitchy, Chuck Todd Thinks Democracy Means Doing What Democrats Want, Even When Republicans Win and Don Surber, X defeats Congress. In yesterdays news, this bill was rejected by Republicans after considerable pressure from President Trump and the DOGE twins, Elon and Vivek. Republicans, in turn, whittled down the original 1547 page monster into a fairly digestible 116 page bill that continued the government authority to spend, funded new hurricane relief, and a few other needed addons, and deleted most of the the pork, poison pills and land mines in the original. It did, however, lift the debt ceiling for 2 years. Beege Welborn at Hat Hair, 'Ma! I Shrunk...Um...SUNK My CR!'. I'm not going to include them, but the analyses of the bill by ChatPGT and Grok are useful. So, of course, House Democrats, along with a handful of Republicans (38) rejected it. Natalia Mittelstadt at JTN, House rejects revised spending bill as Republicans break ranks. "The final vote total was 174-235, with one Congress member voting present." Mary Chastain at LI, *UPDATE* New Spending Bill Fails to Pass, 38 Republicans Vote No. Fox, Trump-backed spending bill goes down in flames as shutdown looms, "The deadline to avert a partial government shutdown is end of day Friday." Insurrection Barbie@DefiyantlyFree, "The reason you know that Democrats are lying about every single thing they say about these debt ceiling negotiations is because they talk in generalities while we talk in specifics. We gave you specific provisions of the CR that we didn’t like. They will tell you Elon Musk bad, Donald Trump bad and those are not policy arguments. They have no policy arguments." At Insty, AN IDEA SO CRAZY IT JUST MIGHT WORK: Thomas Massie@RepThomasMassie, "This isn’t complicated. Separate the bills and vote on them individually. one vote on the clean CR, one vote on the debt limit, one vote on disaster relief, one vote on farm bailouts. Radical right? Individual bills for each issue." Michele Tafoya at Hat Hair, You Should Be Mad As Hell. Newt Gingrich@newtgingrich, "President Trump and Republicans should not be afraid of a government shutdown. The next election is two years away . We had two shutdowns in 1995 and became the first reelected house gop majority since 1928. It may take shock therapy for schumer and democrats to learn President Trump is serious about draining the swamp." Atop Da Hill, GOP senator suggests Trump come to Washington to unite party,

Insty, THERE WERE SOME MISSING REPUBLICANS, TOO, THOUGH: Greg Price@greg_price11 "Nearly every House Democrat just voted against: - Disaster relief - Aid for farmers - Keeping the government open - Pay for the military And they did it because it doesn’t contain 1,000+ pages of pork." Sarah Arnold at TownHall, Reactions Pour In After More Than 30 Republicans Voted Against the Trump-Backing Funding Bill. Dave Strom, The 'Shutdown' Propaganda Is Ridiculous. Nick Arama at RedState, WATCH: Elon Musk Has Gloriously Broken Kinzinger and Dems, and Their New Tactic Is Next-Level Dumb and  Vance Gives Spicy Response to Second CR Failure, Others React Just As Strongly. Chad Pergram@ChadPergram, "Vance: The Democrats just voted to shut down the government, even though we had a clean CR because they didn't want to give the president negotiating leverage during his first term or during the first year of his new term. And number two, because they would rather shut down the government and fight for global censorship bullshit. They've asked for a shutdown and I think that's exactly what they're going to get." NYSun notes Welcome to Washington: Mike Johnson Gets a Taste of the Hell That Awaits Him in January. Shawn Fleetwood at Da Fed, Mike Johnson’s Latest Spending Scheme Proves He’s Democrats’ Useful Idiot. Victory Girls, Trump To Congress: I’m Watching You And Your Votes. Joe Biden is a complete nonentity in the waning days of his administration. Donald Trump is being deferred to as if he was already president, in name if not in deed. But the truth is that this is the end of the Biden administration, and the Congress is still split between a narrow majority of Republicans in the House, and a narrow majority of Democrats in the Senate. Which means that the Democrats have more power right now than they will after Inauguration Day. That means, unfortunately, that the Republicans in the House have to pass a continuing resolution (CR) that Democrats in the Senate will vote for." Capt. Ed at Hat Hair, Trump to Johnson: If You Want to Remain Speaker ... WaEx, Trump offers conditional support for Mike Johnson after spending deal debacle. Misty Severi at JTN, Trump tells congressional Republicans to raise debt ceiling by inauguration day or 'be primaried.' "Trump encouraged Republicans in both chambers to tie a bill that raises the debt ceiling to a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would keep the government funded through March." Ace, Is Mike Johnson's Speakership in Danger? "Henry Rodgers at the Daily Caller suggests it might be." Althouse, "The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress... Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk... think about it ..." ""... nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds)." Tweets Rand Paul. It's probably a terrible idea but it's funny to think about it." It would be a terrible waste of Musk's time and talents.

From Da Mail, White House Biden health cover-up blown wide open in bombshell report: Joe was senile from day one of presidency and The terrifying scandal is that Biden was NEVER president. The full truth about the cover-up, Bad Doctor Jill and all the enemies within must be exposed. Scott Pinsker at PJM, Hypothetically, if Our President Were Brain-Dead and the VP an AWOL Drunk, What Would Our Enemies Do? Joe Gabriel Simonson@SaysSimonson "The White House press corps saw Biden in private at fundraisers for months and said nothing. Instead, fundraisers attendees leaked their concerns back to them when everyone agreed Dems needed a new candidate. Biggest media scandal of my lifetime. A disgrace no one should forget." Chuck Cooke at NRO wants you to Contrast the Journal‘s Piece on Biden’s Senility with Kamala Harris’s Lies About It. VodkaPundit at PJM, QUESTIONS FROM 2022: Why the Hell Is Joe Biden Still President? Ace, WSJ, NYT Agree: Biden Was In Obvious Cognitive Decline Not Just at the End But For His Entire Term as Fake President, "Yesterday, the New York Times -- which of course insisted that Biden was doing Chinese Human Pyramid Gymnastics when the cameras weren't on him up until his debate meltdown -- admitted that Biden was in a degraded mental condition for a long time."

And finally, before sorting through the usual detritus, NYSun reports Fani Willis, in Stunning Victory for the President-Elect, Is Disqualified From Prosecuting Criminal Case Against Trump. "The ruling comes after an appeals court in Georgia earlier this month cancelled a hearing scheduled on the issue." Althouse, "Fani Willis disqualified from Trump's Georgia election interference case." "Axios reports." Sundance, Georgia State Appeals Court Disqualifies Fani Willis from Trump Prosecution. What happens to the case? The court did not dismiss the case, so in theory, it could be handed to another prosecutor, who could either choose to dismiss it, or pursue it. Sundance is concerned Senate Armed Services Committee Positioning to Leak FBI Report on Def Secretary Nominee Pete Hegseth, likely to be unfriendly, unless the FBI really sees the handwriting on the wall. Althouse, Perhaps they are lying in wait. "That's my answer to Glenn Greenwald's question: "Is there a single Democrat in DC politics or media remotely acting as if a New Hitler will assume power in a month?" Look around: There are the drones, the "bird flu"... these things are in the air... circling. Something will happen, I'm afraid. Be vigilant." Charlotte Hazard at JTN hears CIA whistleblower suggests drones searching for missing 'suitcase' nuke. "Kevin Shipp says CIA has very sophisticated drone program that has drones with detectors that will fly around to pick up signs of high radiation in case there's a pending attack." At WokeSpy, Donald Trump Sues Pollster Who Said He’d Lose Iowa Just Days Before 13-Point VictoryPaul A. Szypula@Bubblebathgirl, "Trump yesterday said he would sue Des Moines Register and Ann Selzer over their Iowa presidential poll. That’s exactly what’s happening. Trump accuses Selzer of fraud. If she’s smart, she’ll settle." WaEx, Trump’s mockery of Trudeau may topple Canadian government.

This one is worth looking through, Aaron Siri @AaronSiriSG "Wall Street Journal: "RFK, Polio Vaccines, the Media and Me." "The mainstream media is deliberately stoking fear and outrage about vaccines in an attempt to derail Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr... The attempts to stoke fear are based on legal work I did for a different client, which I never discussed with Mr. Kennedy. ... [T]he @nytimes ... mischaracterize the contents of three petitions my firm filed with the
@US_FDA from 2020-22 on behalf of a client, @ICANdecide. One of these petitions related to IPOL, which is one of the six polio-containing vaccines currently licensed by the FDA. ... The media falsely claimed the petition sought to eliminate all polio vaccines..."

John Sexton at Hat Hair hears the Democrats' Latest Worry: A Constitutional Convention. "There has only been one constitutional convention, the one that happened in Philadelphia in 1787. But all it takes to hold a new one is a call for it from two-thirds of the states. According to some observers, that threshold has already been met." I'm not counting that chicken yet.

Stacy McCain on the Madison, Wisconsin shooter, A Product of the Crazy-Making Factory. "Most importantly, there is no politics here. People trying to turn Natalie Rupnow into a symbol of the Left or the Right, in order to score political points for their side, are misguided. Ed, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back?  "If George Stephanopoulos wants to play Jedi leak tricks, looks like Disney isn't afraid to unleash the Power of the Mouse Side.
