Flotsam and Jetsam - Gaetz a Goner, Bondi Bows In, Case Concedes

Jake Sherman@JakeSherman, "GAETZ WITHDRAWING FROM A.G.", Quote, Matt Gaetz@mattgaetz, :I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback - and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance. . . " George@BehizyTweets, "It's being reported that Matt Gaetz had the support of every Republican Senator except four Senator Mitch McConnell (Kentucky) Senator Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) Senator John Curtis (Utah) Senator Susan Collins (Maine) I AM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW! Why did Utah vote for a Mitt Romney clone? Why do people in Kentucky keep voting for McConnell? Why do Alaskans keep voting for Lisa Murkowski? It's shameful." Matt Vespa at TownHall, Matt Gaetz Withdraws From Attorney General Nomination and Is This Why Gaetz Withdrew His Name From Consideration for Attorney General? "It was members of the ‘we suck’ caucus, with Curtis, who is replacing Romney, seemingly taking up the role of his predecessor, Romney, in being an all-around pain in the a**." 'Bonchie' at RedState  on the Matt Gaetz Withdrawal: Why It Happened, and What Comes Next. Capt. Ed At Hat Hair, Gaetz Withdraws "Surprise? Perhaps only in the timing. After an initial pass around the Senate in confabs, Matt Gaetz has decided to withdraw his nomination for Attorney General." Tyler O'Neal at Da Signal, Matt Gaetz Withdraws Attorney General Nomination. NewsMax, Gaetz Withdraws From AG Consideration. At Hat Hair, Your Daily Fetterman: Nicole Silverio@NicoleMSilverio, "John Fetterman on Matt Gaetz withdrawing name: Holy shit! I didn't see that coming!" At Althouse, Gaetz withdraws. "WaPo reports." Sundance at CTH, Matt Gaetz Withdraws from Attorney General Consideration. "Facing brutal opposition from John Thune, Mitch McConnell and the DeceptiCON coalition in the U.S. Senate, former Congressman Matt Gaetz has withdrawn his name from consideration for the U.S. Attorney General position." Ace, Rogue "Republican" Seantors Force Matt Gaetz's Withdrawal. Teri Christoph at Red State notes Scott Jennings Offers Some Sage Words for Republicans Who Are Reeling Over Matt Gaetz. "I think the rest of them all could be confirmed. Gaetz, I think as I've said to you that day, he always struck me as being in a different category. I think everybody else is still within the realm of confirmable. So this job, my advice would be let's find somebody who starts above water, not below water." Mark Hemingway@Heminator "What is this insane belief that the AG should be adversarial to the President? Holder said he was Obama’s “wingman” and I don’t recall Axe saying it was disturbing the president had a yes-man in place." Quote, David Axelrod@davidaxelrod, "This was a terrible idea from the start. The fact that he was forced to withdraw speaks to some semblance of checks and balances, as he--and team Trump--read the room in the Senate GOP. Now Trump may elevate his criminal defense atty, which would still, disturbingly, install a x.com/mattgaetz/stat…"At the Wombat's In The Mailbox: 11.21.24 (Afternoon Edition) Louder With Crowder, This look on Sunny Hostin face reading a legal note after SLANDERING Matt Gaetz is priceless.

From In The Mailbox: 11.21.24 (Evening Edition), Legal Insurrection: Trump Nominates Former FL AG Pam Bondi for Attorney General, Matt Vespa, Trump Has a New Attorney General Nominee already, Pam Bondi, former Florida AG and Trump lawyer. Good news, Sarah Arnold at TownHall points out Liberal Media Is Already Melting Down Over Pam Bondi. Charlie Kirk@charliekirk11, "MSNBC is melting down over Pam Bondi as Attorney General: "We should all fear [her] because she's competent." "She actually knows how to do this job." "She knows what she's doing about immigration." "She is a dangerous and effective pick." Stephen Kruiser at PJM, Was Trump Doing His 4-D Chess Thing With His Attorney General Picks? I had occasionally wondered if the Gaetz wasn't chosen as a sacrificial lamb, to create, as the Obama world calls it, stray voltage. NewsMax, Trump Can Fill Four Appellate Seats Under Senate Deal, was this involved with the Gaetz thing?

Capt. Ed worries, Can McMahon Wrestle With the Department of Education -- And Win? At Althouse, "I make a pretty sharp distinction between his medical ideas, which I think are really unsound and dangerous, and his critique of the food system, which has many elements I completely agree with." From Fox, Democrat Bob Casey concedes Pennsylvania Senate race to Dave McCormick. "Pennsylvania Senate seat flipped by Republican Dave McCormick". NewsMax, Dem Casey Concedes Pa. Senate Race, Boosting GOP Majority. It's been a foregone conclusion for a long time. I wonder if he wasn't holding out to give cover for Democrats to stuff ballots in some local elections. Hat Hair's Duane Patterson is Crawling Through The Democratic Wreckage and finds "The biggest failure of the liberals in this cycle, among dozens of failures, was their performance with men - all of them. A lot of strategists know this, and are desperately trying to convince anyone on the left who will listen to shed a lot of the social issues that did not resonate even a little bit, and rediscover what will attract the working-class males they've driven away." Chronicles explains why they think Why Democrats Are Losing Tomorrow’s Elections Today "States that voted for Kamala Harris this year are set to lose 12 seats in the House of Representatives, and an equal number of presidential electors, after 2030, according to the two groups’ extrapolations from Census Bureau data." But I seriously doubt Kamala will be on the 2028 ticket. Geoff Shullenberger@g_shullenberger, "The astonishing collapse in Democratic support in deep blue areas is the strongest evidence that the 2024 election was, in fact, a referendum on 2020-era progressivism, and the progressives lost decisively." Althouse, "Most of the country shifted right in the 2024 presidential election...." ""Trump won the suburbs.... Rural areas went even more for Trump.... Harris also underperformed in urban areas...." NPR reports. I see my county got bluer though." Well, she lives in Madison, WI, as small city surrounded by reality.

Read the whole thing and you will find no attempt to explain why turnout was so much worse in these “heavily Democratic cities,” because this might lead to questions about why these “heavily Democratic cities” had such phenomenally high turnout in 2020. What happened in 2020 that did not happen in 2024? Well, four years ago, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg poured millions of dollars into so-called “non-partisan” tax-exempt 501(c)3 organizations that sought to maximize turnout, and this year, not so much. My suspicion is that the “Zuckbucks” get-out-the-vote operation in 2020 amounted to wholesale election fraud using what Steven Kruiser has derisively called “Magic Mail-In Ballots.”

Why didn’t the same thing happen in 2024? Well, first of all, Republicans raised hell about election integrity and Democrats, realizing that they couldn’t get away with running the same game again, refrained from the most egregious practices that had tainted 2020. Also, however, Zuckerberg stopped pouring out money (or certainly did not spend as much as he did in 2020) for the Democrat ballot-harvesting gangs.

Is Biden, or whoever is pulling his strings, pushing us into WWIII in time for the inauguration? Althouse, Insane not to think about. Ian Miles Cheong@stillgray, "Just one of these could level an entire European city within 20 minutes of being launched. Insane to think about." Quote Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal, "RUSSIA: HYPERSONIC MISSILE STRIKE WAS A WARNING TO THE WEST Yesterday’s strike on a weapons factory in Dnipro, Ukraine, marked the first use of a new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM)."
