Oh, sorry, my mistake. Occupy is over now, apparently? Now they want to call themselves Idle No More?* And allegedly, one of their members was caught with a bottle filled with gasoline in the Wisconsin State Capitol building. Which seems noteworthy, since today’s news is all about keeping crazy people from doing violent things.Leopards, spots...
A Wisconsin activist was arrested Tuesday at the state Capitol building just hours before Governor Scott Walker was to deliver his State of the State Address to Wisconsin lawmakers.
The man, Kvon R. Smith, had reportedly used Facebook to threaten to do harm at the Capitol. Law enforcement was ready for him and arrested him as he attempted to enter the building. Smith then reportedly claimed to have a Molotov cocktail in his backpack. Police evacuated portions of the capitol building and a bomb squad reportedly arrived and handled the backpack. Police did not say whether or not the backpack contained the explosive device the man allegedly claimed it did.
A search of the man’s apparent Twitter account reveals deep sympathies for Palestinians, support for other liberal and far-left causes, and claims of previous felony charges. Smith has also expressed support for the newest leftist movement, which previous Occupy
supporters are beginning to flock to, named “Idle No More.”
One day you wash up on the beach, wet and naked. Another day you wash back out. In between, the scenery changes constantly.

Tea Partiers Caught With Gun, Explosives Hoard
Did I say Tea Partiers? I meant Occutards!
Greenwich Village couple busted with cache of weapons, bombmaking explosives: sources
The privileged daughter of a prominent city doctor, and her boyfriend — a Harvard grad and Occupy Wall Street activist — have been busted for allegedly having a cache of weapons and a bombmaking explosive in their Greenwich Village apartment. The parallels between this and Bill Ayers/Bernadine Dohrn has been noted by others. At least no one was blown up this time.
Morgan Gliedman — who is nine-months pregnant — and her baby daddy, Aaron Greene, 31, also had instructions on making bombs, including a stack of papers with a cover sheet titled, “The Terrorist Encyclopedia,’’ sources told The Post yesterday.
People who know Greene say his political views are “extreme,” the sources said.
Morgan Gliedman, daughter of Realtor Susyn Schops Gliedman and prominent doctor Paul Gliedman, was busted at this building with her OWS boyfriend.
Cops found the stash in the couple’s West Ninth Street home Saturday when they went there to look for Gliedman, 27, who was wanted for alleged credit-card theft.
A detective discovered a plastic container with seven grams of a white chemical powder called HMTD, which is so powerful, cops evacuated several nearby buildings.
Police also found a flare launcher, which is a commercial replica of a grenade launcher; a modified 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun; ammo; and nine high-capacity rifle magazines, the sources said.
Cops also allegedly uncovered papers about creating homemade booby traps, improvised submachine guns, and various handwritten notebooks containing chemical formulas.

Tea Partiers Guilty of Conspiracy, WMD Charges
Three more men charged with planning to bomb a highway bridge in Ohio admitted their roles in the plot Wednesday in a move meant to avoid life prison sentences.Meanwhile Occupy Cleveland continued to support the malefactors.
The device was a dud provided by an FBI informant and no one was hurt.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has said the public was never in danger even though the target was a highway bridge over the Cuyahoga Valley National Park between Cleveland and Akron.
Two 20-year-old suburban Cleveland men, Connor Stevens of Berea and Brandon Baxter of Lakewood, and Douglas Wright, 26, of Indianapolis, pleaded guilty to three-count ...
...Occupy Cleveland held a small press conference where they continued to defend the men and say that they were victims of entrapment. U.S. Attorney Steve Dettelbach said, ”Make no mistake about it—it was their plot. It was the defendants who selected the target they wished to destroy.”

At Last, A Job the #Occupiers Qualify For!
Army Need Riot Test Dummies: The Army Will Pay You to Riot
How does the US Army know if its less-than-lethal armaments are effective without being deadly? Live fire training exercises employing a mob of volunteers, of course.
That's right, if you are over 18 and live in the greater New Jersey area, you too can get $20/hour to be whacked with batons and shot with rubber balls! The testing takes place in a non-descript one-story building, known as the Target Behavioral Response Laboratory, located a few miles from Picatinny Arsenal, the Army's research and development center. Here, a nine-member team of engineers study how effective non-lethal technologies perform and, more importantly, the psychological reasons they do.
"I can't just shoot a laser or loud sound at a piece of wood and expect it to run away," John Riedener, the lab's technical director told NJ.com. "We need to know how well it chases someone away. It's all about data, controlled experiments. It's about the probabilities of what can happen." To that end, the Army actively recruits volunteers from local colleges and libraries to pretend to be part of an angry mob, paying them $20 an hour with the small chance of permanent injury (though all tests are supervised by the Picatinny's Institutional Review Board).

#OWSers Steal Holy Vessel, Defile Cross
Holy vessel disappears from church housing Occupy Wall Street protesters
I'm not hugely religious, but it's my belief that if somebody invites you into their house, you don't piss on the furniture and steal the silverware and plates:
I'm not hugely religious, but it's my belief that if somebody invites you into their house, you don't piss on the furniture and steal the silverware and plates:
When the Rev. Bob Brashear prepared for Sunday services at West Park Presbyterian Church on West 86th Street, he noticed parts of the bronze baptismal font were gone. In a fire-and-brimstone message to occupiers later that day, he thundered, “It was like pissing on the 99 percent.”
In Brooklyn, at another church housing OWS protesters, an occupier urinated on a cross, according to Rabbi Chaim Gruber, who has angrily abandoned the OWS movement. In a letter last week to OWS obtained by The Post, the rabbi fumed, “The Park Slope church housing occupiers was desecrated when an occupier peed inside the building and the pee came into contact with a cross.”
But if I were in the congregation of one of the affected churches, I'd hold the minister responsible for the inviting the OWS crowd in.

Fore Sure, Dude!
Apparently, #Occupy DC isn't buying enough copies of the Post. From the Washington Post this morning: Moderate marijuana use strengthens lungs:
Smoking a joint once a week or a bit more apparently doesn’t harm the lungs, suggests a 20-year study that bolsters evidence that marijuana doesn’t do the kind of damage tobacco does.So a little weed doesn't hurt your lungs after all? It just makes you vote wrong...
The results, from one of the largest and longest studies on the health effects of marijuana, are hazier for heavy users — those who smoke two or more joints daily for several years. The data suggest that using marijuana that often might cause a decline in lung function, but there weren’t enough heavy users among the 5,000 young adults in the study to draw firm conclusions.
Still, the authors recommended “caution and moderation when marijuana use is considered.”
Seriously, we have bigger problems to worry about than marijuana use.

A New Use for Student Loans
Does getting pepper-sprayed count as extra credit? They could take out student loans to go protest them.
Columbia University is offering a new course on Occupy Wall Street next semester — sending upperclassmen and grad students into the field for full course credit.
The class is taught by Dr. Hannah Appel, who boasts about her nights camped out in Zuccotti Park.
As many as 30 students will be expected to get involved in ongoing OWS projects outside the classroom, the syllabus says.
The class will be in the anthropology department and called “Occupy the Field: Global Finance, Inequality, Social Movement.” It will be divided between seminars at the Morningside Heights campus and fieldwork.

OWS Prepares to Block Ports; Longshoreman's Union Not Amused.
The OWS branch on the Left Coast is preparing to hurt the upper 1% by shutting down all the ports on the coast on Dec 12th.
We will blockade all of the West Coast Ports on December 12th in solidarity with longshoremen, port workers and truckers in their struggle against the 1%! Together we are unstoppable! Strike while the iron is hot!Organization not being their strongest suit, they apparently forgot to co-ordinate this with their 99%er brothers in the labor movement, and it turns out that the dock workers were unimpressed by the offer of a day of unpaid leave to mingle with the filthy hippies and play in the drum circle:
"Any actions organized by outside groups, including the proposed Dec. 12 shutdown of various terminals on the West Coast, have not been vetted by our union's democratically led process," the International Longshore and Warehouse Union said. "Any decisions made by groups outside of the union's democratic process do not hold water, regardless of the intent."Where's your appreciation, boys?

Zombie Apocalypse Begins, In Harrisburg PA
Lower Allen Township Police said they arrested a “zombie shopper” at the Capital City Mall for trespassing Friday morning.I can see where an occupier might be confused with a zombie; having similar levels of sanitation and intellect.
But Jenn Hara, a 34-year-old mother of four and member of the Occupy Harrisburg, said she was really there to protest. Hara was one of at least 35 occupy members there to protest consumerism as part of the Occupy Black Friday movement, a national event hoping to call attention to mindless consumerism and corporate greed.
The zombie protesters wore white make-up, drew black circles around their eyes and had fake wounds on their faces. They walked and groaned through the mall, often transfixed on shiny items in store-front windows.
A Lower Allen Township officer told Hara to either wash her face or leave the mall, police said, advising her that a refusal to do so would result in an arrest. Hara said she asked the officer about the policy three times before she was arrested on a misdemeanor trespass charge and taken to Cumberland County Prison for processing. All of the other zombies complied by either washing their faces or leaving the property, police said.Story and checklist via Jawa Report

#OWS: Woodstock to Altamont in 2 Months
A good read at Powerline today about how the OWS protests have descended from Woodstock to Altamont in near record time.
Numerous observers have pointed out how the media and liberals (sorry for the redundancy) lavished sympathy on Occupy Wall Street until it became untenable to continue, after which they began to airbrush their previous encomia. They seem to forget that what begins as Woodstock somehow always ends up as Altamont. It was inevitable that the “spirit of Woodstock” would make an appearance as the cycle of OWS unfolded. (I used to joke that although 400,000 people attended Woodstock in 1969, 5 million baby boomers would later claim to have attended.)Everybody knows about Woodstock. A few days of music in a farm field in New York, lots of drugs, sex, rock and roll, and the feeling that all was right in the world (except for the brown acid, dude). A few months after Woodstock, the music world tried to recreate the magic in California, at a place called Altamont.
A few months later the attempted sequel to Woodstock at California’s Altamont Pass ended violently when the Hells Angels hired as stage security proved they were not yet ready to be part of the Age of Aquarius. The Hells Angels beat a concertgoer to death just a few feet in front of Mick Jagger, who was in the middle of singing “Sympathy for the Devil.” In contrast to the encomiums to Woodstock, there was little media commentary suggesting that Altamont showed a dark side of the counterculture.A personal note; although I won't claim to have gone to Woodstock, I almost went to Altamont. A college friend nearly talked me into driving down from college in Arcata to Altamont for the concert. I don't really recall quite why we decided not to go; perhaps a rare moment of sanity in that crazy year.
A video of the mayhem at Altamont, from Legal Insurrection:
The Grateful Dead wrote the song "New Speedway Boogie" about the Altamont concert, at which they were headliners, but dropped out at the last minute after the violence broke out. The concert venue was Altamont Motor Speedway.

Why You Should Give a $#!* About Greece and Italy
So why should Americans care about any of this? The first reason is that, with American consumers still in the doldrums of deleveraging, the United States badly needs buoyant exports if its economy is to grow at anything other than a miserably low rate. And despite all the hype about trade with the Chinese, U.S. exports to the European Union are nearly three times larger than to China.Nobody will buy our stuff if their economies tank, and they're busy tanking. But, as Billy Mays used to say "Wait, there's more!"
Until March, it seemed as if exports to Europe were on an upward trajectory. But the eurozone crisis has stopped that. Governments that ran up excessive debts have seen their borrowing costs explode. Unable to devalue their currencies, they’ve been forced to adopt austerity measures—cutting spending or hiking taxes—in a vain effort to reduce their deficits. The result has been Depression economics: shrinking economies and unemployment rates approaching 20 percent.
As a result, according to the new president of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, a “double dip” recession in Europe is now all but inevitable. And that’s lousy news for U.S. exporters targeting the EU market.
But the third reason Americans should care about Europe is more important even than the risk of a renewed financial crisis. It is the danger that what is happening in Europe today could ultimately happen here. Just a few months ago, almost nobody was worried about Italy’s vast debt, which amounts to 121 percent of GDP. Then suddenly panic set in, and Italy’s borrowing costs exploded from 3.5 percent to 7.5 percent. Today the U.S. gross federal debt stands at around 100 percent of GDP. Four years ago it was 62 percent. By 2016 the International Monetary Fund forecasts it will be 115 percent.Yeah Baby; make those #Occupy kids pay for it, once they get jobs!

#Occupy DC Stinks
But when I read this story ("Man found dead in Occupy New Orleans encampment") about a man dead for two days being discovered in the Occupy zone, I wondered whether DC didn't have a similar problem. I'm not saying the encampment smelled of death, exactly, but it really did smell bad.But let's be fair, some places in Washington D.C. smelled pretty pretty bad before Occupy DC. I remember one mud hole behind the Paradise at Parkside Apartments that nearly gagged me, and the marshes behind the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens were no walk in the park either...
My husband would be the first to tell you that my nose should be examined by science for its ability to detect hints of vanilla a mile away, so perhaps I'm overly sensitive.
But both my companion and I were somewhat overcome by the stench. Hints of urine, to be sure, but there was something else that was just not quite right. This strikes me as a huge marketing problem. Convincing people to camp out is one thing, convincing people to camp out in a smelly enclave? Much more difficult.

This list is an abridged list from Big Government. I tried to get rid of duplication, the same offense at multiple occupy sites, or the same story showing up on several links. I probably left a little duplication in there, being unable decide whether a particular event deserved a separate line. Tough.
