 WBOC, Ice begins forming in Tangier Sound, disrupting travel to island communities

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. -- Waters across parts of the Chesapeake Bay are beginning to freeze, and the developing ice is already affecting transportation for communities in and around the Tangier Sound.

Nice video at the link. Meanwhile, I took a brief trip down to the harbor and beach:
Not a lot of expose shoreline. I didn't stay to look for fossils. Footing was treacherous. It looks like snow, but as somebody noted on Facebook, it's really more like snowcrete
It doesn't look like anybody in the harbor is going anywhere soon, especially with temperatures expected to stay below freezing until at least Monday, and even after that, it's below freezing more than it's above. I suspect the ice will only get thicker.
