Actress Sophie Turner says she inadvertently played a role in ending a celebrity couple’s engagement after a brief and seemingly innocent encounter years ago, as reported by Page Six. The 29-year-old “Game of Thrones” alum recounted the story Thursday during an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
She explained that the incident happened at a San Diego Comic-Con afterparty when she was approached by a childhood friend who spotted an actor she admired. Turner said her friend asked her to say hello to the man, and she obliged by simply waving from across the room. “That was it,” Turner said.
Later that night, Turner approached a well-known actress she recognized and wanted to meet. “I have to go and tell her how much she means to me,” Turner recalled. After walking over to speak with the actress, Turner said she was met with an unexpected response: “Can you stop f**king flirting with my fiancé?” The actress then pointed to the man Turner had waved at earlier.
“I have no idea who this man is,” Turner told Meyers. “Turns out, they broke their engagement off that night because of my [wave]. I didn’t realize I held this power.”
