Another walk on trip with Walleye Pete, with an old acquaintance, Craig, and a first timer on Pete's boat, but a long time fisherman, Pat.
We started at daybreak at Mike's Rocks (an informal name) on
Hoopers Island. I missed two fish here, and only one was caught. The shallow waters seem pretty quiet.
The outflow of a tidal creek at on Hoopers Island, traditionally a good spot was also barren.
We headed south to the water off
Smith Island, where small pods of large Bluefish were corralling schools of peanut Menhaden, and drawing birds to show the way. These fish pull really hard...
