Beach Report 8/25/25

The beach is just getting back to something like normal after the passage of Hurricane Erin offshore. We had 30 kt winds, extremely high tides, and lot of erosion. The last few days we've been unable to even get to the Calvert Beach boat ramp, but today, with a bit of wading, I made it all the the way to the big slide at Matoaka (which suffered some significant erosion).

Temperatures were back in the low 80's at home, and upper 70s at the beach, with mostly clear skies and light north wind.
I was pretty happy to find this Snaggletooth up on Matoaka, the best of 13 teeth. The last few days have been a bit spare.
This Monarch butterfly was visiting a False Indigo bush along side the marina parking lot. It's not clear if this one recently from the north, or getting ready to head south. It's that time of year
