Christine Nicole Chlapecka born April 11, 2000) is an American singer, TikTok personality, and left-wing activist. She is best known as a key figure in "#BimboTok", a TikTok subculture centered on reclaiming the bimbo stereotype and aesthetic in a queer, feminist, and leftist context.
In advance of her debut single "I'm So Hot", Rolling Stone named Chlapecka one of "The Brightest Pop Stars to Watch in 2023", writing, "With notes of Paris Hilton's short-lived pop stardom and Britney Spears' Blackout, Chlapecka has the charisma to become the new reigning star of this year's dance floors."

Forget It Jake It's Baltimore

Cables carrying electricity and information — the hidden lifeblood of Baltimore — thread through hundreds of miles of terracotta tubes so old that PVC pipes hadn’t been invented when they were buried below the city streets. Those clay conduits keep catching fire, sometimes exploding and turning 323-pound manhole covers into dangerous projectiles. There’s no consensus as to why. And there’s no clear answer as to whose responsibility it is to prevent it from happening again.
A variety of underground stakeholders operate in and around the city-owned conduit, leaving each one pointing fingers and looking at others for answers. The City Council has scheduled a hearing Tuesday, its second on the issue in a year. “Everybody is cagey because no one wants to take responsibility,” said Councilman Mark Conway, who called for the hearing. “There’s a lot of infrastructure down there. ... There’s so many things that could go wrong.”
These kinds of fires have been occurring for a century. But the pace is picking up, and the concentration is noticeable: Eight times in roughly two years, underground forces like fires have blown off manhole covers. Three of those incidents occurred in a small slice of downtown Baltimore, including the most recent one, on June 28.
A 2023 agreement between the city and the region’s utility and primary conduit user, Baltimore Gas and Electric, has muddled the issue of responsibility.
One especially explosive inferno in September on Charles Street swallowed up a bookstore, caused over $300,000 in damage and left 2,000 people without power, according to a report BGE filed to state regulators.

Greenish, cloudy, and with a smell like rotten eggs, “pistachio tides” are causing concern among residents who live along the Magothy River.
Magothy River Association member Bob Moyer said he went out to photograph a particularly large pistachio tide on Cattail Creek in October, and was so overwhelmed by the sulfur smell that he collapsed to his hands and knees and had to crawl off the pier.
Pistachio tides occur when bacteria in the river produce hydrogen sulfide, which depletes the oxygen in the water and creates a rotten smell. The bacteria produce a bright green color, which is where the name comes from.
Working with the river association, Johns Hopkins University is researching the bacterial booms in Cattail and Old Man creeks this summer to identify where and when they occur. Pistachio tides usually develop between August and October, and Hopkins started collecting water samples in early July to get ahead of the blooms.
That classic rotten egg smell is an ancient evolutionary mechanism to help us avoid hydrogen sulfide, which is a deadly poison, on the order of hydrogen cyanide. Interestingly, people rapidly get habituated to the smell, and so poisonings from hydrogen sulfide do occur occasionally.
Sulfate reducing bacteria, which produce sulfide from sulfate (a major salt in salt water) are obligate anaerobes and are totally inhibited by even low concentrations of oxygen. The process is quite common in sediments, but rare in the water column, and usually only in the bottom water. Something is seriously wrong if the surface water in the Magothy are going anoxic even occasionally.
