Oregon, My Oregon

From the College Fix, U. Oregon to pay $191,000 after blocking conservative professor on Twitter

The University of Oregon will pay out $191,000 in legal fees to two legal groups representing a professor who it blocked on Twitter (now X) for saying “all men are created equal.”

The attorney fees will go to Portland State University Professor Bruce Gilley’s representatives at Angus Lee Law Firm and the Institute for Free Speech.

The school already spent more than half a million dollars paying its own attorneys and now its insurer will pay out even more.

U. Oregon will also revise its social media guidelines and provide training to its employees to end the two-and-a half year lawsuit, as previously reported by The College Fix.

Gilley, a professor of political science at Portland State University, in 2022 sued the former communications manager of the @UOEquity X account after she blocked him for responding to her “racism interrupter” prompt with the quote “all men are created equal.”

That was controversial 249 years ago.

Flotsam and Jetsam - Iran Israeli War Goes into Overtime

As reported yesterday Trump Says He Will Decide Whether to Bomb Iran 'Within Two Weeks.' Why the Hesitation? asks Rick Moran at PJM. "Within two weeks" could be today. Jeff Charles at TownHall attempts to answer, This Is Why Trump Is Giving Iran Two Weeks to Give Up Its Nuclear Ambitions "there is a concern that “we get somebody worse than Khamenei.”" That's a high bar. Rule 5 Saturday - Kaia Gerber

They seem younger every year. This week's Rule 5 winner is the daughter of a previous selectee.

Kaia Jordan Gerber (born September 3, 2001) is an American model and actress. After starring in a series of ad campaigns for fashion brands since debuting at Fashion Week in 2017, Gerber won Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2018. As an actress, she has appeared in supporting roles in the films Bottoms (2023) and Saturday Night (2024). She is the second child and only daughter of the supermodel Cindy Crawford and the businessman Rande Gerber.

Now that you mention it, I see the resemblance.

When she was 10, Gerber landed her first modeling gig with Versace's junior line, Young Versace. She took online classes at Malibu High School. She was part of the Young Versace S/S 12 campaign when she was only 10 years old. Gerber made her acting debut at 15 in Sister Cities as the young version of Carolina. In July 2015, she signed under IMG models.

Beach Report 6/20/25

The first day of summer was cooler, and less humid than the last day of spring, after an evening thunderstorm brought in cooler, and drier air

I thought a little Sand Tiger shark tooth I found first was going to be the winner for the day, but the penultimate tooth was a killer, a 1 1/2 inch White Shark tooth.

Flotsam and Jetsam - It's Summertime

And the living is easy. Unless you're Iran. Sundance at CTH reports President Trump Gives Himself Two Weeks to Decide Whether to Strike Iran. NewsMax cites the NY Post: Trump Worries Iran Could Become 'Another Libya', (remembering how well that Obama era intervention worked out), and NY Times: Iran Will Make Nuke if Fordow, Khamenei Attacked.
