Flotsam and Jetsam - I Think It's Going to Rain Today

Not a lot of fresh news on a sunny Sunday morning, except that the homeland, Southern California is about to be struck by a big sloppy wet tropical storm for the first time since well before I was born. Expect flooding, land slides, and lots of politicians blaming gasoline powered cars and coal fired power plants. So let's stir around in the ashes of this week's fires and see if we can find anything still smoldering.

At Da Fed, Evita-Alfonso Duffy reports Comer Demands National Archives Fork Over Info On Biden’s Business Pseudonyms "On Thursday, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer demanded the National Archives turn over any document or communication containing any of Joe Biden’s aliases, “including but not limited to Robert Peters, Robin Ware, and JRB Ware.” In addition to requesting any document with a Biden pseudonym, the committee also requested all drafts of Biden’s speech that was delivered to the Ukrainian parliament on Dec. 9, 2015 and unrestricted access to any documents or correspondence involving Hunter Biden and his former business associates, Eric Schwerin and Devon Archer." Expect stalling and major redactions. 'Bonchie' at Red State claims this is NEW: Hunter Biden Team Used Threat of Joe Biden to Pressure and Coerce the DOJ. They threated to call Joe as a witness and gum up the works. “President Biden now unquestionably would be a fact witness for the defense in any criminal trial,” Clark wrote in a 32-page letter reviewed by POLITICO." Town Hall's 'Becca Downs notes the IRS Whistleblower's Attorneys Slams Misinformation From Hunter Biden Attorney. Hat Hair's Capt. Ed cites Dershowitz: Dump Weiss and get a properly independent special counsel for Biden Inc corruption probe. "Dersh wants to be able to vote for Biden next year, but if the only independent probe into Biden Inc comes from the GOP-controlled House, that makes it worse for Biden Inc." It's too late for that. Let Congress expose it all. Nick Arama at Red State sees Hell Is Freezing Over as CNN's Jake Tapper Admits, 'Trump Was Right, Biden Was Wrong' about Hunter taking Chinese cash. At NYPo, Hunter Biden pleads to God for justice at family bar mitzvah ceremony. Never ask for justice, beg for mercy. Jason Leopold@JasonLeopold, "NEW: I filed a #FOIA request with the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department for a wide-range of docs related to the Hazmat team's response to the cocaine found at the WH. 19 pages of responsive records found. All withheld  in full." From SLAY, Tom Fitton Sues CIA over Role in Intel Letter Attacking Hunter Biden Laptop Story Just before Election. Breitbart has a Report: Joe Biden Ignores Most Aides with Ideas About Hunter’s Legal Woes

Stacy McCain sees 21st-Century Digital Stalinism in Hunter's use of high powered firm to clean up his Wikipedia page. "The Left’s rewriting of the past, however, is not confined to defaming the dead, but also in altering more recent facts, such as trying to erase the facts about Hunter Biden’s corrupt foreign dealings. It’s very Soviet-like — whatever the Party says is true, must become true, and if any fact should contradict the Party line, well, it will soon cease to be a fact."

Chaz Lipsom at Spec World thinks Joe Biden isn’t reactive enough to be president "He is no longer capable of performing the essential presidential duty of speaking clearly for the whole nation." No longer? More like never was.

From NYPo, Biden, Hunter vacation at billionaire climate investor Tom Steyer’s $18M Lake Tahoe mansion. I think it's going to rain today.

At Twitchy, Andrew McCarthy points out 'the flaw in Trump's Georgia indictment'. "That is what’s so strange about DA Willis’s indictment. She alleges that the 19 people named in her indictment are guilty of conspiracy because they agreed to try to keep Donald Trump in power as president — specifically, to “change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.” Maybe they shared such an aim, maybe their 19 minds met regarding that objective, but in and of itself, trying to reverse the result of an election is not a crime. You may have noticed that neither Al Gore nor Stacey Abrams was ever led away in handcuffs." Nevertheless as KT at Hat Hair points out Trump’s lawyers and Willis’ prosecutors negotiate on Trump's surrender. Atop Da Hill, Gaetz introduces resolution to censure judge in Trump Jan. 6 case. Political prosecutions deserve political persecutions. Capt. Ed at Hat Hair, Hmm: Has Trump stiffed Giuliani on million$ in legal fees? Has Rudy provided any value?

From the Center Square, Poll suggests primary win for Biden, unless Michelle Obama steps in. Ugh, but don't the Obama's prefer to rule from the shadows? Capt. Ed cites a WaPo columnist: If Biden retires and Harris doesn't get nominated, watch out

At Fox, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she'd consider Trump's veep spot if asked. "Noem boasted of South Dakota's nationally-lowest unemployment rate and 0% income tax." He could do worse, and probably will.

Never-anybody-but-Trump sundance at CTH, Candidate Ron DeSantis Says MAGA Supporters Are “listless vessels” Who “follow whatever comes down the pike on Truth Social”… Bad word choice, Ron.  Also,  Republican Chris Christie Advocates for More War, More Conflict, More Turmoil, More Weapons, More U.S Intervention. At Am Great Roger Kimball describes how the Uniparty’s Plan to Save ‘Our Democracy™’ Unfolds "Trump is an existential threat to their continued existence."   Anxious anxiously claims a Scoop: DeSantis team previews debate strategy for donors, "In a memo dated August 15th, the Super PAC advised DeSantis to "take a sledgehammer" to rival Vivek Ramaswamy and suggested nicknames like "Fake Vivek" or "Vivek the Fake." The memo also suggested hitting Chris Christie for appealing to Democrats if the former New Jersey governor attacks Trump, who is not expected to attend the debate." Althouse, features  Jordan Peterson and Vivek Ramaswami talk about attention span. "This is extraordinarily insightful." Vivek talks a good game. I tried to watch the whole thing, but I didn't have the attention span. Paul Bedard at WaEx, Glenn Youngkin a ‘no, no’ on 2024 GOP bid, deputy Earle-Sears says. Yeah, we don't need more choices.

At Da Wire, Florida Fines Medicaid Providers For Using Tax Dollars To Cover Trans Treatments For Minors. Kirsten Fleming at NYPo opines Trans zealots would rather children stay in care than be fostered by loving parents who won’t embrace extremism. Insty, REPUBLICANS POUNCE: Ali’s tweet below (to the right) is what happens when you believe, or at least pretend to believe, your own “intersectional” bullshit that requires you to think that all groups the left defines as oppressed are naturally allies.

At Spiked, Humourless scolds have taken over comedy.  "The cancellation of Graham Linehan is a new low for the Edinburgh Fringe."
