**Proposed Montgomery County data center would use Potomac River water for cooling, and lots of people aren't happy about it.** After the water cools it keeps on going, don't they return it to it's source?
Cooling water is often treated with chemicals to prevent corrosion or scaling in the heat exchangers. Not sure if they could just return it to the source after use.
