Made for a modest budget of $6 million, the movie has grossed $40 million, so at least it was profitable. However, there’s no way Mikey Madison would have gotten the Best Actress award had it not been for the controversy that destroyed the Oscar hopes of transgender Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón. That was amazing, wasn’t it? Transgenderism is nowadays the most fashionable cause célèbre in Hollywood, and the Oscar committee would have been delighted to give the Best Actress award to Gascón, but unfortunately for the “actress” formerly known as Carlos, he/“she” had once said some rude (if arguably true) things about Muslims on social media, and when this was discovered, it was “cancel” time for the Spanish tranny. This is how the young star of Anora got her Oscar, which then gave her the opportunity to express solidarity with “the sex worker community”:
“I just want to recognize and honor the sex worker community. . . . I will continue to support and be an ally. All of the incredible people, the women that I’ve had the privilege of meeting from that community, has been one of the highlights of this incredible experience.”[ Church Lady voice ] Well, isn’t that special?
Because the representative of the transgender community got caught dissing the Muslim community, it’s a win for the sex worker community.Bill Maher agrees, Says ‘Emilia Pérez’ Lost to ‘Anora’ at the Oscars Because of ‘Cancel Culture’: ‘It Was the Front Runner’ (Variety). 'She's' about as convincing a woman as
And just by the way, if you’re going to “recognize and honor” all the “incredible” women from “the sex worker community” — it was such a “privilege” just to meet them! — why not extend this gratitude to others involved in the vital business of sex work? Why not give a shout-out to the pimps and johns, and the strip club bouncers? How about being more specific about the “incredible” people and the work they do in the “community”? The strippers, the call girls, the street walkers, the meth-addicted truck-stop “lot lizards”? Go ahead and be inclusive — give a shout-out to the gigolos, the rentboys, the tranny hookers. Let’s not forget the OnlyFans girls and the legions of loyal simps who pay them money.
While talking with author and comedian David Sedaris on the latest episode of “Real Time,” Maher explained that “cancel culture” was a big factor in deciding the latest class of Academy Award winners, especially when it comes to “Emilia Pérez” and its star Karla Sofía Gascón.Bleeding Fool reports ‘Stranger Things’ Actress Millie Bobby Brown Slams Media for ‘Bullying’ Oh just grow up. Oh, I see you have.
“There are people who say cancel culture isn’t a real thing and I would say to them, ‘It just happened at the Oscars,’” Maher said. “You may not think it happened but the movie that was going to win it all was ‘Emilia Pérez.’”
Maher added that “Hollywood loved” the idea of breaking down a major cultural barrier and having “a person, who was a trans person” win the Oscar for best actress. Maher went on to praise Gascón’s performance saying, “God bless her, she did a great job.”
While Gascón, and “Emilia Pérez” for that matter, were once the ones to beat, they quickly became Academy pariahs after a series of problematic tweets from Gascón resurfaced. The tweets, mostly posted between 2020 and 2021, expressed controversial opinions on George Floyd, Muslims and diversity at the Oscars.
Maher said that Gascón’s tweets were “a little childlike” and ” a little Kanye-esque, just whatever’s on the brain comes out,” in reference to Kanye West’s history with controversial social media posts.
“I started in the industry when I was 10 years old. I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow up with me,” she said in an Instagram video posted Monday evening. “Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things Season 1.” Brown was 12 years old when Season 1 of the Netflix series was released in 2016.
In her post, the actress, now 21, referred to articles that have come out as she prepares for the March 14 release of her new Netflix film, The Electric State, which also stars Chris Pratt.
The stories she mentioned were published by The Daily Mail. One piece has a headline that begins, “Why are Gen Zers like Millie Bobby Brown ageing so badly?” while another headline begins “What has Millie Bobby Brown done to her face?” and the third is titled “Millie Bobby Brown mistaken for ‘someone’s mom’ as she guides younger sister Ava through LA crowd.” Still another headline describes Brown as having a a “‘mommy makeover’ look.”At BIS, Who Would Danica Patrick Love To Race Against? She Spills the Tea
“This isn’t journalism. This is bullying,” Brown said. “The fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices, is disturbing, and the fact that some of these articles are written by women, makes it even worse.” “Disillusioned people can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman on her terms, not their own,” she added. “I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman.”
The former NASCAR star Danica Patrick is speaking out this week to reveal the drivers she’d pick to go up against in her “dream race.”
“Well, I think I’d want to see how I stacked up against Ayrton Senna. He was one of the greats in Formula 1,” Patrick, 42, told Outkick.
Senna is a Formula 1 legend who tragically died in an accident during a 1994 race at the age 34. Prior to that, he was known for being an aggressive driver. During his career, Senna achieved 41 wins, 65 pole positions, 19 fastest laps and 80 podiums. Definitely a worthy opponent.
“Maybe get out there and doorbang with Dale Earnhardt Sr. Obviously, I know (Dale Earnhardt Jr.) super well. I drove for him,” Patrick continued. “He’s a friend, and his wife Amy is great. But, you know, he was known as ‘the Intimidator.’ So, that would be a fun person to see, like, what did that feel like? Would I be intimidated? Cause I have a real mean streak in me at times.”
Earnhardt is a true NASCAR legend who raced in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, now the NASCAR Cup Series. Of course, he famously died in an accident during the final lap of the Daytona 500 in 2001 at the age of 49. Before his death, Earnhardt won 76 Winston Cup races and 24 exhibition events, for a combined 100 wins. “The Intimidator” is considered one of the best to ever do it.
Nothing wrong with wanting to test yourself against the best. Just don't expect to come out on top.
