Yesterday was the warmest day I remember this year, 95 at the house, and oppressively humid. The cold front that ended the warm spell arrived late in the evening, with ample lightning, intermittent power failures, and 2 inches of much needed rain. This morning in it's wake the temperature was in the low 70s, the humidity gone, and a strong northeast wind had the waves breaking when we arrived at the beach around 10.
It looks like someone may have had a trailer failure in getting this sail boat out.
They have it secured to a point on the beach, but that line looks a little skimpy to me.
The Eagles and Ospreys were out doing their usual routines. A tough shot, with an Eagle silhouetted against the sky.
You can see the light through the white tail feathers in this one. Missed a great shot by that much.
I saw this guy coming up from the south a long way off, thanks to all his spray. I expected him to turn into the harbor and get out of the chop, but he passed it by. Wherever he's going, it's a long way before he can get out again, another 10+ miles to Breezy Point. Not my idea of a fun ride.
