Beach Report 11/22/22

A late walk today due to an early engagement. We got going at a high tide. It was about 50 F, with a light east wind.
By the time we were on the way back, twilight was well underway, and Venus' Belt was around the horizon.
The best of 16 teeth was this half of a White Shark tooth.

Beach Report 3/11/21

Natural gas getting ready to be shipped away.
I grossly underestimated the temperature today. The Cove Point site showed 49 F as I got ready, but when we got to the beach, it was at least mid 60s, maybe 70s, and my long sleeve shirt made me sweat. I could easily have been in shorts and T-shirt.
I rounded the corner of one of the groins to find this washing about in the surf. I like it when it's this easy.
A little worn, but pretty Snaggletooth (Hemipristis serra) upper tooth . We managed 31 shark's teeth, the obligatory crab claw, a ray chevron.

9/16/20 Beach Report

Skye was only a little upset by not getting her beach walk yesterday due to my fishing trip, and was more than happy to go today. Georgia, Gabby and I accompanied her down to the beach, Georgia and Gabby turned back and Skye and I went on down the beach. Great weather, partly cloudy, in the low 70s and very still. The atmosphere up high is slightly hazy from smoke from the western fires.
Funny thing. Yesterday I got a email from my bird watching friend, who asked me to contact Secretary of the Audubon MD/DC Records Committee, and fill him in on when I first and last saw the Great White Heron. I did, but I said I wouldn't be shocked if it were back again. And sure enough, once we got down to Calvert Beach, there it was. So I sent them both pictures.
I managed 16 shark's teeth and a crab claw,

Beach Report 6/11/17

Although the humidity is creeping up, the temperature continues to hold in the mid 70's, making for almost perfect beach weather. I took Skye down around 11 AM, and Georgia caught up with us at the beach.
Lots of people out fossil hunting.
I have to show the next two, even though they aren't ours, and were from yesterday. Our friend Theresa and Roy found these yesterday raking through the surf line. First this outstanding "Mako", when we walked past them on the way up, and then on our way back . . .
This small but perfect Megalodon!
It was a hair on the warm side for a dog designed for Siberian winters, but Skye cooled herself by wading as deep as we would let her.

She also managed to snag a few pets along the way.

Lots of water sports going on today
