Today's Olympic Moment

Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media: Sydney McLaughlin Destroys Her Own World Record and Makes the Olympics Fun Again

It’s true that there have been a few U.S. athletes who have tried to ruin the games, but I prefer to let them remain nameless, annoying, and thus far, losers.

There are a lot of good American Olympians who are worth paying attention to and cheering for. As I wrote in my Morning Briefing a couple of weeks ago, we shouldn’t ignore them because of the bad seeds.

I mentioned hurdler Sydney McLaughlin as one of my favorites of this U.S. Olympic team. She runs the 400-meter hurdles and set a new world record at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June. Her teammate Dalilah Muhammad held the two previous world records. The two push each other to new bests and that was what track fans were expecting Tuesday night in the Olympic women’s 400-meter hurdles finals.

They didn’t disappoint:

Today's Olympic Moment

Breitbart, WATCH: U.S. Wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock Praises God, America After Winning Gold

“It’s by the grace of God that I’m able to even move my feet,” an enthused Mensah-Stock said to a network reporter after she took the gold Tuesday. “I just leave it in his hands, and I pray that all the practice, all the hell my freaking coaches put me through, pays off, and every single time it does. And I get better and better. And it’s so weird that there is no cap to the limit that I can do. And I’m excited to see what I have next.”

As she bounced on her feet in excitement, the network reporter asked her about the American flag she had draped around her shoulders. He wondered how it feels to represent the U.S.A. at the Olympics.

The reporter may have been hoping for Mensah-Stock to attack the U.S. like so many other privileged athletes, but if he was, he came away disappointed. Instead, Mensah-Stock was thrilled and to be a proud American.

“It feels amazing,” Mensah-Stock said of competing for her country. “I love representing the U.S.,” she continued as she brought her hands up in the shape of a heart. “I freaking love living there, I love it, and I’m so happy I get to represent U-S-A,” she said.

JTN, Team USA gymnast Jade Carey wins gold medal in Olympics floor exercise

Team USA gymnast Jade Carey won her first gold medal on Monday in the women's individual floor exercise final at the Tokyo Olympics.

Carey won first place with a score of 14.366, ahead of the second-place scorer Vanessa Ferrari, of Italy, at 14.200. The scores topped a tied third place for Mai Murakami, of Japan, and Angelina Melnikova, of Russia, with scores of 14.1665, NBC News reported.

The 21-year-old Olympic champion did not win a medal in the individual all-around, and placed eighth in the vault finals.

After winning the gold, Carey said, "This is all I have ever dreamed of, all I ever worked for. I'm really glad it paid off tonight."

Jade is currently enrolled at Oregon State University, my alma mater:

Carey verbally committed to compete in NCAA gymnastics at Oregon State University, starting in the 2018-19 school year. She officially signed with the Oregon State Beavers on November 9, 2017. She deferred enrollment until after the 2020 Olympics, starting in the 2020–21 school year. However, due to the postponement of the Olympics, Carey enrolled in classes for the 2020–21 school year but deferred competing for the Beavers until after the Olympics take place in 2021.

Go Team!

I haven't done much (anything yet) with the 2020 Olympics, being done here in 2021 thanks to the WuFlu, for a variety of reasons, including laziness, being pissed off at political statements, and just general lack of interest (and don't try to make me interested in having an opinion about Simone Biles), but I'll do this one: Da Caller, Amber English Sets New Olympic Record In Skeet Shooting, Brings Home Gold For USA

U.S. shooter and Army Lt. Amber English set a new Olympic record in skeet shooting and brought home the gold for Team USA during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The 31-year-old olympian scored the gold with 56 hits and set a new record for the games, USA Today reported Monday.

Good shooting, Lt. English. I doubt she will get much attention in the media.
