Back From Fishin'

Another Hoopers Island sunrise. There were a few slot sized stripers in here hitting on topwater plugs. I got a nice one here. We tried for stripers at a few more spots in skinny water, but struck out, and headed south in hopes of large Bluefish and Redfish.
The Pride of Baltimore under sail in the distance.
Down near Tangier Island we found a few large Redfish, and a lot of giant Bluefish.

A slot red.
A large, but not giant, red, well over the 27 inch maximum size.
The fish box before it got filled with giant blues.

A typical large bluefish. They were in marauding packs. After hooking up and landing a couple, you would have to look for them again.
The Thomas Point lighthouse. No fish here today.

110 miles on the water today.

  1. Awesome report! Were blues breaking under birds? That’s definitely not Thomas Point Light unless there is another? Those blues look fun

  2. My brain fart, that's Smith Point lighthouse, where the Potomac enters the Bay. The blues were breaking, but there were no birds on them. If I were a bird I'd stay away from those teeth too. Those blues are amazing with their runs and jumps.
