But what at about parent three four and so on?  The Feds are trying to make the passport application process more parent partner neutral by changing the application form so that second mommy or second daddy doesn't feel slighted by the form. 

But we all know plural marriage is coming.  Historically speaking, polygamy (primarily, but not exclusively polygyny) has a far stronger role in human affairs than pairwise same sex marriage.  At this point, I suspect the only effective opposition to polygamy in the US comes from liberals who don't want to yield to Mormon fundamentalists.  They could care less if Muslims keep families of five parents, and Inuit swap wives (or husbands, depending on your perspective) or had "extended co-families", or polyandry (multiple men one wife) among immigrant Tibetans or Chinese.  After all, that's their culture, and all cultures are equal (never mind calling Mormon a culture; cultures were something created in the distant past, and do not evolve as times change, right?).

It should be perfectly simple to add provision for multiple parents of either (or no) sex on the form.  Leave a space on back for additional entries and to explain the relationships, if needed.  Databases are wonderfully adaptable, and it should be simple to alter it to allow as many parents as required for any passport.
