Lisa Marie Presley’s death Thursday was eerily similar to those of a long line of her relatives, including dad Elvis — which an author has blamed on a genetic curse from the marriage of the King’s first-cousin grandparents. Elvis’ only child was just 54 when she died Thursday, reportedly after suffering cardiac arrest at home in Calabasas, California.
Her dad, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, also died of heart problems in 1977, at the even tragically younger age of 42. His twin, Jesse, was stillborn. Elvis’ death had already been compared to that of his mother, Gladys Smith Presley, 19 years earlier — also from heart failure and at the age of just 46. Some of her siblings also died in their 40s.
These “shocking similarities” are not mere coincidences, according to author Sally Hoedel — who more than two years ago laid out her theory that Elvis was “destined to die young.” “Elvis’ maternal grandparents were first cousins,” Hoedel wrote of Robert Lee “Bob” Smith and Octavia “Doll” Smith, who married in 1903.
“It was that union some 30-something years before Elvis’ birth that dictated his short life” as well as others in the family, Hoedel stated, blaming it on the family tree in which “branches got tangled.”
“Creating Elvis took a rare DNA combination that was not supposed to happen. It was not supposed to survive — and the consequences of that have long been ignored,” she wrote.

Tatjana Patitz, a Vogue supermodel who appeared on dozens of fashion magazine covers in her 40-year career after skyrocketing to fame in the ’80s and ’90s, has died. She was 56. The iconic catwalk stunner’s agent, Corrine Nichols, confirmed on Wednesday her passing from breast cancer at her home in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Patitz was perhaps most known for her work in Vogue and also starred in George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” music video alongside fellow models Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista.
Raised in Sweden by her Estonian mother and German father, she launched her modeling career at 17 when she placed third in a contest in Stockholm in 1983. The prize was a trip to Paris with a limited-time modeling contract — and the rest is history.
“Tatjana was always the European symbol of chic, like Romy Schneider-meets-Monica Vitti,” wrote Anna Wintour, the chief content officer of Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue, in remembrance of the cover star.
“She was far less visible than her peers — more mysterious, more grown-up, more unattainable — and that had its own appeal,” Wintour continued.

Although Tatjana was without work for a year following her stint in Paris, she soon became a force in the modeling world, according to Vogue. Coupled with her background in acting, her “special” looks took her a long way.
“People always said that I looked special; that I didn’t look like anyone else,” she told Vogue in a 1988 profile titled “Tatjana: Million Dollar Beauty.” “And I was going to make it because of that.”
She made a number of on-screen appearances, including music videos for Duran Duran and Korn as well as films and brief television guest spots.

A Clark County, Nevada, judge on Tuesday sentenced former Playboy model Kelsey Turner to serve 10 to 25 years in prison for her role in the 2019 killing of California psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Burchard.
Turner, 29, agreed in November to an Alford plea, which maintains the defendant's innocence despite prosecutorial evidence that would likely result in a guilty verdict if presented before a jury.
The Playboy Italia and Maxim model did not make any statements during her Tuesday sentencing.
Turner and her then-boyfriend, 29-year-old Jon Logan Kennison, were arrested in 2019 after authorities found Burchard's body stuffed in the trunk of an abandoned car on State Route 147 near Lake Mead outside Las Vegas on March 7 of that year.

Prosecutors say Turner and Kennison beat Burchard to death in their home and hid his body in the trunk of Turner's Mercedes. The Clark County coroner concluded that the physiatrist had been beaten with an unidentified object in what police described as a unique pattern.
Their roommate, 34-year-old Diana Nicole Pena, pleaded guilty in July 2019 to being an accessory to murder after testifying that she helped clean the crime scene before fleeing Las Vegas with Turner and Kennison.
