Ezra Klein, Washington Post blogger (now, he was "independent" then) admits the what they really need is to trick the public into letting them put something into place that will evolve into Single-Payer socialized medicine despite public opposition.

Notice how right up front he admits that 80-90% of people are happy with their own health care, but still think it needs to be reformed. Right there is a testament to the power of the media to create the demand for a product that very few people actually aspire to have for themselves.
