Random Celebrity News

For some values of "random", "celebrity" and "news".  At Gizmodo, Best Buy CEO Blames Taylor Swift for Sales Slump and 'Funflation'

In an economy racked with corporate greed-induced hyperinflation and a population evermore saddled with student loan debt, younger generations are apparently more interested in shelling out for experiences over at-home tech luxuries—and Best Buy’s CEO says the business is taking a hit.

“’Funflation,’ Taylor Swift… those experiences are really where people are willing to pay,” said Best Buy CEO Corie Barry at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women summit last week. “[B]igger ticket items in electronics are not right now where people are interested.”

Barry’s use of the term “funflation” refers to a trend in which consumers are willing to shell out on fun experiences over at-home products like Best Buy’s TVs and computers. Take a look at the cultural phenomenon of Barbenheimer, in which the dual release of two of this summer’s largest blockbusters spawned an expectation of dressing up in an exuberant costume, buying two tickets, and sitting in a theater for six hours.

LAT,  Taylor Swift postpones Brazil concert amid heat wave day after fan dies at Friday show

Taylor Swift postponed her Saturday night Eras Tour show in Brazil due to the record-breaking heat wave overtaking Rio de Janeiro.

The "Style" singer announced that was delaying her performance in an Instagram Story Saturday.

"I'm writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight's show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio," she explained. "The safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first."

Not exactly Altamont. From People,  Britney Spears Reveals She Had an Abortion Because Justin Timberlake 'Didn't Want to Be a Father'

In her upcoming memoir The Woman in Me, the pop icon reveals that when she dated Justin Timberlake, she became pregnant with his baby but had an abortion, PEOPLE confirms.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears, now 41, writes of the pregnancy in the book. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

A rep for Timberlake did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Trying to care . . .  Nope, can't do it.  From Hollywood in Toto, Megyn Kelly Slams Alicia Keys Over Paraglider Posts, "Podcast superstar doesn't buy singer's explanation (and she's not alone)"

Alicia Keys isn’t the first celebrity to hastily delete a social media post. It happens all the time, especially with stars who seemingly live and breathe on digital platforms.

A recent example? Kylie Jenner deleted a pro-Israel post after Hamas sent wave after
wave of terrorists into the Jewish state, killing more than 1,000 people.

Now, it’s the “Fallin'” singer’s turn to hit the delete button, but this time it’s more complicated. Keys posted a Monday-themed message asking her followers a motivational query: “What would you do if u weren’t afraid of anything??? Tell me your truth…” She then added, “I’ve had my eyes on paragliding…👀👀” Keys allegedly mentioned paragliding in another separate post as well.

Podcast giant Megyn Kelly wasn’t buying the explanation. Megyn Kelly@megynkelly

My God how is this not EVERYWHERE right now?? ALICIA KEYS can post THIS and it gets ignored?? No explanation? HELL NO. @accesshollywood @etnow @people @DailyMail @nypost Benjamin B@dejo @benjamin_bdj Alicia Keys posted this pro-Hamas filth on Instagram, even going so far as to say she’s interested in paragliding (like Hamas paraglided into the concert and towns were they raped and killed over 1,000 civilians). Hamas colors. Read her caption under her picture.@StopAntisemites"

And this is why we don't seek moral leadership from celebrities.  Radar Online, Photo Proof: Leah Remini Serves Scientology Leader David Miscavige With Alleged Stalking and Harassment Lawsuit

Leah Remini submitted proof to the court that she served David Miscavige with the alleged stalking and harassment lawsuit. In the documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, the actress revealed she hired a determined process server who desperately tried to hunt down the Church of Scientology's leader before finally dropping the legal papers at a security guard's feet.

The documents filed on Wednesday gave a play-by-play of the process server's attempt to track down Miscavige, revealing he went to at least five Scientology locations in Los Angeles looking for the elusive church leader.

He also provided photos and descriptions of each time he was turned away.

Filed under suits I hope succeed.
