After lunch we walked down to the beach. It was blowing pretty hard, NNE at 15-20 kts, and despite the blue sky it was only only in the low 50s, so definitely light jacket weather. Spring is coming along, though, and if you look closely you can see the trees just starting to get green leaves.
A high tide, and the waves made fossil hunting, tough, only 3 teeth between us, and Skye wasn't helping.
I stopped to photograph this butterfly on the way back. An American Lady, you can just barely make out the little white spot surrounded by orange that is the easiest field mark to distinguish it from the Painted Lady.
You can also see the two large "eye spots" on the underside of the hind wing in this shot. In the Painted Lady, there would be four smaller ones.
I also saw a Zebra Swallowtail, but it didn't slow down long.
