Bay Nanny is on the Watch

The Bay news today is full of, well, not a lot.  An article on the continuing row between farmers and the Bay dieticians, a Senate companion bill to the bill in the House of Delegates restricting flush tax money for Bay use only, another article on the listing of Atlantic Sturgeon as an endangered species, a truly stupid article about how rooting for the Giants in the Superbowl is supporting the Bay, some kid art, how EPA is pushing a Bladensburg manufacturer's permeable paving product (crony capitalism?), and a couple article, nagging us to do thing the way the nannies would prefer.  The first is about lawn care:

Keeping your lawn on drugs will cost you $4 billion
You can prevent an enormous hike in your taxes. You can prevent the need for fertilizer police. Heck, you'll also save money, save the bay and have a better-looking lawn. All you need to do is stop drenching your turf in toxic chemicals.
So, the "Bay Diet" really will be an enormous tax hike?  That's not what you tell us when you want us to pay for, it, and fertilizer aren't toxic, except in the very weak sense of being overstimulatory in some cases.
Yes, it really is that easy. Ask any vegetable gardener. Grass is the toughest weed there is. The only way to have a bad-looking lawn is to cut it too short or drench it in chemicals all summer.
Then why do you spend so many columns each year telling what to do with our lawns..
If your lawn were a person, it would weigh 700 pounds
Talk about purple prose...

And then, there's the one on deicing (not that I expect to do anymore of that this "winter").  Another article about making your own life miserable for the sake of "the cause."
So what are the options, if you want get out of your house and driveway without slipping and sliding?

1. Get out and Shovel– You need exercise, the ice and snow need to go…it’s a match made in heaven!
2. Don’t want to shovel? Ok, pay someone from your hood to shovel the snow; there are usually plenty of kids willing to shovel your driveway for a few bucks.
3. Be patient! Snow and Ice will eventually melt so just get some traction with bird seed or gravel. Sand is not ideal, as it can clog storm drains.
So, basically, shovel or shut up.
