Beach Report, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011

A day much like yesterday, a little warmer and more humid, a little less breezy.  There was a cloud bank off in the distance.
The Osprey's were still out in abundance, probably fattening themselves on the baitfish in anticipation of their migration south.  They should be heading out soon, leaving the Bald Eagles to fish for themselves (or scavenge off the beach, whichever is easiest).
There was some kind of odd fish kill last night.  Several kinds of fish were washed up in various state of disintegration.  I saw Gizzard Shad, Herring, what may have been a Black Drum, and several Striped Bass.  This one was surprisingly fresh looking, with clear eyes, and not a mark on to indicate a cause.
The Sand Pipers were still about.  I think this is a better photo than yesterday's.
 Kayakers enjoying the calm water.
I got sidetracked for a while, telling a newbe how to look for shark's teeth, and by the time I was done, Georgia, Joel, Skye and Red were on the way home.
A group of young people fishing (well, some of them) from the beach.
Kudzu blossoms fallen down at the face of the cliff.
An "old" sailing boat going by out in the fog bank on the Bay.  I'm not sure but this may even be the "Pride of Baltimore II".  It looks about the right size and arrangement of sails.
