Croakers in the Sunset 6/13/11

Trevor and I took off around 6:30 for fishing.  Initially, we found a few small striped bass up near the boil of the discharge at CCNPP, but couldn't find anything to keep.

We tried lots of places, with no keeper strripers, indeed, nothing at all.  About sunset, we decided to try for some croakers, way out in the discharge.
Croakers were available in abundance at the far end of the discharge.  Tevor had some bloodworms and squid, which saved my fish bites...

Here Trevor poses with one of the the dozen croakers we caught.  We also caught one White Perch.
 A nearly full moon...
The non-zoomed version.  The moon over the Belt of Venus, which is over Rocky Point, and the Dominion Gas Docks.
More sunset.  We were catching croakers the whole time the sun was setting
The last little bit of sunset.
The dark pattern in the water is small striped bass, hitting bait fish near the surface, so called "breaking".  The small stripers do this nearly every evening near the power plant discharge during summer
The moon amongst clouds over the harbor, seen from the parking lot.

  1. Good report and pictures. Croakers are fun catch and good to eat. It's been a couple of years since I've fished for them, so I'll have to correct that this year.
