"You Guys Coming, or What?"

That ice you see in the background formed overnight.  It dropped to about 18 F last night, and the wind was 20-30 out of the north.  The ice is not firm, it's large flakes that form in shallow water, blown in by the wind, and stranded on the beach by the tide.

A Bufflehead flees

A couple of scavenger lurk

A dead deer, fresh since yesterday, partially consumed

Ugly, perhaps, but important for the scavengers.  I didn't see any big mammal tracks nearby (we even managed to get Skye on leash before she got to it), but there were plenty of bird tracks, and tail drags marks from birds.  This will no doubt provide days of food for the eagles, vultures and crows.
